Title: day 4
Post by: cupcake on July 11, 2013, 08:24:00 AM
Been 4 days since i quit. And the serious struggles for me are being a beer driver and having 20 min. rides between stops. driving is one of my triggers. I chewed gum so hard yesterday my jaw hurt. but i know i have this licked. Ive chewed for about 30 years minus a 5 year and 2 year stint that i had quit before. but bad choices and friends did me in. Time to put on the seatbelt and get this ride moving i'm leaving the monkey at the turnstile.

Darrin,
Congratulations on the decision to quit. Right now I am on day 39, and I can tell you each day is a struggle but it does get better. Watch out for the triggers and protect your quit. I dipped for about 16 years, and I know how those triggers work. However, I was tired of the worry about sores, trying to find a place to spit, and having my kids look at me funny. Most importantly, I had to quit for myself. Praying for you, and if you need anything pm me.

Welcome Cupcake.

If you want to quit (not stop for a bit) you need to initiate a few things.

1) Read the Welcome Center (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13).

2) Pay attention to Why (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=120) we post roll.

3) Then learn How (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50) to post roll.

4) Then post your promise in the October 2013 Group (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=8419)

5) Keep your word all day to not use NIC in any way shape or form.

6) Repeat steps 4-5 tomorrow.

I'm sure everyone has there own way of quitting I am going cold turkey no seeds or fake chews. just a bag of blueberries and when i get a crave i hit a few berries. now the next challenge heading to the lake. beer fishing. good thing no one chews so should be pretty easy later.

We post daily in a group. Not on your intro. Your group is the october pre hof group. It would do you good to read the welcome center,, top left it will explain this. Your group will be the october group.

Posting roll keeps you accountable. It's a promise to everyone and yourself not to use for the day. You can keep your word for a day right? Posting will save your quit, and it's a way to get to know your group.

Cupcake? Not that it matters one bit, but what the hell kind of name is that?

Read the welcome center at the top left of the page and start posting roll every day in your quit group, ok cupcake?

On second though this might be one of the best names ever.

Darrin

not that i took a shower who are you to judge me cleanfuel? your making this assumption off a couple sentence you read? well here is some more for you judge this....I lost 80% of everything i own to a flood last year and am tapped out because there wasn't enough damage to the area for fema to help. I'm raising my grandkid because his parents are junkies. also i like to have a couple beers on weekends. Now that you know a little more feel free to judge me.

And by the way it's now 8 days

Feel free to pm me with any questions! Take care bud and remeber, I quit with you Every Damn Day (EDD)!!

Well, cupcake before you get upset you need to think about things a little. Here are the facts. You have 6 posts. 3 of those are on your intro. Your 8 days quit so possibly posted roll 3 out of 8. Diesel, myself and cleanfuel Care about your quit not you're feelings. POST ROLL!!

You need some encouragement, phone #'s we are here. I'm glad to see your getting a little upset. Turn that anger towards the poison and post role.

Its a rough story, it really is, and I'm sure many on here have tough luck stories as well.

Not go be a Dick, but this is about your quit .

You wanna quit, post roll every fucking day, cupcake.

It's a good day to be be quit cupcake. I think you are getting the hang of how this place operates. You post roll daily and then get the suooprt of a few thousand fellow quitters that will do just about anything to help you stay quit.

How is  THIS (http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/breaking/chi-twinkies-20130715,0,6952668.story) for coincidence today?

I gotta be honest cupcake, I like beer more than twinkies. Glad you made the switch to the best business on earth - and glad to have another quitter making sure America stays hydrated.

Sounds like your hands are pretty full. Sounds like you have a lot if reasons to live. That's good - success at this program can keep you around for a while longer. This program is really simple. Your new schedule is: wake up. Post roll. Let the integrity you obviously have keep your promise back to your post. The rest of the day is yours. Everyday.

We are pretty protective of this plan. It is like the ktc version of the Declaration of Independence. And the successful quitters stick to it like superglue. If you want to make this stick - follow the plan.

Stay thirsty my friend!

One thing to add to this cupcake get numbers and find a few guys to get close to and stick. It can get overwhelming at times but having a small support group is also key. These guys can be asses at times but are there to fight along side you when the bitch hits.

I"M A LIAR... told haas0311 i would not post again. reflecting on 30 days.....checked in day 4 of my quit, didn't know the protocol but was quickly informed. My biggest bitch people commenting without doing a little and i do mean little recon. ( go look if I posted roll don't rip me and ask has he posted roll?) The whole Tough love covenant I get it but being 47 years old i seen and dealt with more shit and really don't need it also don't need anyone to hold my dick for me i'm a big boy. I thought this would be a place for support when and if needed, but truthfully it has just become a place to post roll to keep my word to myself. The whole angry war theme is great I guess if you need that kinda motivation. Day 25 till today 31 have been the most trying for me so far...no real cravings but the nightly dreams have been real enough that i did check my pockets one morning thinking i bought a tin, and the fog the last 2 days has been the worst it'll pass. Does any of this make sense??? to me it does and don't be getting all angry on me i didn't call anyone out by name. Let the ripping begin

Take what you need, Cupcake. Leave the rest. Keep posting, keep keeping your word, and keep repeating.

And find your orignal intro thread and add to it. Don't start a new one every time. Then I just have to combine them, and it's not really fun to do. Thank you for your cooperation.

Yep, I agree with these two. There are a lot of folks that need that kind of ripping or tough love to keep them engaged. It ain't for everybody, and I fall in that group with you. There is definitely something here for everybody. Just pick your supporters approprietly. I'm almost 40, so I'm a big boy too. I still need accountability because I've failed at quitting by myself before, and without the folks at KTC I wouldn't be where I am today. I've been lucky enough to find some great friends here within these virtual walls. I've met many of them in person now, and that is still a baffling thing to me. That is the support I needed. We rarely actually mention quit, but we stay in contact via pm, text, Facebook, phone, and an occassional meal or beer. Just knowing that those folks expect me to stay quit makes all the difference.

Luckily, so far none of them have tried to

Next the HOF train stops to pick up cupcake! I sweet fella from the Hinterlands of Duluth Minnesota. Cupcake is married with 4 kids and 2 grandchildren that started dipping when he was 14, preferring Copenhagen. Cupcake works as a beer delivery guy, everyoneÂ’s favorite guy, and plans on bringing BEER on the train! CupcakeÂ’s shady past makes him ineligible to run for public office- we left it at that! Cupcakes favorite movie is the Wizard of Oz and plans on drinking some Crown Royal while watching Dorothy and Todo to celebrate!
Cupcake would like everyone that is thinking about quitting to do it today because tomorrow may never come.
Cupcake would like to thank Haas for his quitness- he talked to him like a person not some wannabe drill sergeant.

Congrats Cupcake!
