Title: Can you smell that smell?
Post by: TheEngineer on September 27, 2012, 10:45:00 PM
I had been dipping worm dirt for over 30 years. I had tried to quit over a dozen times. In some cases the quit lasted only two hours. For years I was resigned to a life tied to the habbit of an ignorant fool. For years I thought I was all alone in the strugle to quit snuff, until I found KillThe Can.org.

This time it is different. My quit started July 3, 2012. Today marks 87 days without any snuff. I am not going back this time. I will never, ever put that nasty worm dirt in my mouth again!

Nice job on your quit so far. Are you gonna join a group and help yourself and some others out? We could use another engineer around here.

i can't imagine doing the first 87 days of my quit without this place. you, sir, are a badass quitter. you've done the hard work alone, but we're all still here to help you with your quit. there is still a lot of hard work and tough times ahead, so don't ever think that you can do this without a strong support network.

i have two support systems. my real-life friends and KTC. my RLFs are great and have been supportive. some dip and some smoke, and they've been great about not dipping around me (without asking first at least), supporting me in general, and really watching my back.

what KTC provides, though, is a group of other folks quitting, a group of people with your same addiction fighting your same demons. KTC is both your sword and your shield. you'll get a ton of knowledge to help you go on the offensive against your addiction; we'll also be here to help you when the nic bitch is fighting back and has you on the ropes.

the thing with a sword and shield is that they need to be used to be effective. KTC ain't some harry potter-lord of the rings-eragon bullshit where the swords magically fly into action. you've got to pick us up, let us know what's going on, and USE us. you have to be proactive in your offensive and defensive quit.

good to have you here, damn glad that you've made it this far alone, and looking forward to seeing you post actively.

Thank you for all the kind words. Some of my emotions are running high right now. Triumph is within reach. I signed roll call today at 5:30AM. I will be up early tommorow to sign in again. I will never, ever put that filthy tobacco in my mouth again.

I am looking forward in contributing to this forum. I know I have many good things to share. I think will start putting them together this weekend.

For years I went through one to two cans of Red Seal long cut wintergreen per day. Twice a week I was buying that stuff by the five-pack roll. I knew I was blowing a lot of money on that filth but today I saw it for myself. When I opened my wallet I noticed an extra $20 bill that I do not usually have on this day of the week.

Question: Why are bills and coins made flat?
Answer: So they can be stacked, you idiot!

Today, on the 88th day of my quit I will start a stack of $20 bills.

Now what shall I spend them on? Hmmmmmmmmm. I have some ideas. I will post again when I make the final choice. Yes, I will spend them on something selfish but nothing near as selfish, reckless, and destructive as tobacco products.

Sometimes, for a brief moment since the quit I have detected the distinct scent of a burning cigarette. This is so strange. I hate cigarette smoke. I have never smoked. I grew up in a house full of cigarette smoke and cannot stand it. I smell it at home and my office at work. No one has ever smoked in my house. My house was built only five years ago. No one smokes in my office. I smell it right now as I am typing this post. There, now itÂ’s gone. My wife thinks it is strange also.

“Hey Honey, do you smell that?”
“Smell what?
“A burning cigarette.”
“I don’t smell anything.”

It has to be something in my head. It happens so often that I do not mention it any more. Has anything like this happened to any of you?

YES! Your brain is so entrenched in tobacco addiction, it can be super sensitive and even full-on dream up tastes, smells, dreams, etc. that bring it to light. Just breathe and work your way through this...this kind of thing happens to most of us!

Glad to have you on board. Getting ready to hit the hall of fame and ride that train into the sunset of quits, we are going to need an Engineer to commandeer that train. Hit me up for numbers and we'll try to get you acquainted with the rest of the madmen of Oct12

Today I ordered my Hall of Fame Gold coin. Today is day 89 so I should receive it in time for day 100. I also added a $25 donation to my order. Thanks KillTheCan!

There's no doubt in my mind you're in the right place but it seems like you've started 4 different threads in the intro section. Maybe we could keep all this great shit on one thread for future reference? Welcome!

A buddy of mine bought a new boat with his stack. Named her "pack a day".

Keep the stack growing and good job on the quit so far.

A good friend of mine had one hell of an evening at a gentleman's establishment to celebrate his HOF.

I am still quit since July 3, 2012. I feel confident that I am quit for good. I have started another season of highpower rifle competition. Today I fired a very strong master score without a dip. It sure feels great.
