Hi all,
I decided to quit on Monday, I was sick of not being able to kiss my girlfriend and always having the can follow me like a monkey on my back. Tuesday was a blur between withdrawal and a few drinks to numb the urge. Wednesday felt better, the fog was slightly less thick and urges became weaker. The only issue, since Wednesday morning I've had horrible stomach pains and no appetite.
Today, I'm really struggling, it feels like all the withdrawals I got through on Tuesday are back full force. No way I'm going back but it's getting rough.
Looking forward to getting through the worst of it. I've been lurking here since day 2 and appreciate all the help

Welcome to the family Mario. It isn't easy, but damn is it worth it. The first few days are the worst when the nicotine is leaving your body. You have made a choice to better your life, and you have to stick with it.
Take caution with drinking. I have come dangerously close to falling when I drank. Be careful. Substituting one for the other won't help.
Learn to post roll, and stick with it. Message me if you need me help or number.
We quit together.

Mario,
First of all welcome to KTC. We are all glad that you found us. You certainly seem to have the drive to quit. The best thing you can do is want it and want it really bad. Remember to take things one day at a time, never ever focus on tomorrow or next week, fight hourly at first, then daily. As was pointed out already you need to quit for you, once you do that the rest of your life can bask in the glory of your quit.
Urges and cravings will come and go, rage may become a factor as well. You may notice that your body will change some good, some bad. Read up on that stuff here, those who have walked the trail before you can help guide you through things when you need it.
Now learn how to post roll How to Post Roll (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50).
Then join your quit group Pre HOF May 2014 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=9408), this will be the month at which you will hit your HOF or 100 days of quit, as long as you have the balls to quit.
Next read the HOM speeches and stories here, learn from the veterans. Look in the site for all kind of information like Spousal Support (http://www.killthecan.org/community/spousal-support/) or What to Expect (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/what-to-expect-when-you-quit-dipping/)
Find an alternative to dip Smokeless Alternatives (http://www.killthecan.org/your-quit/smokeless-alternatives/). Find other alternatives (candies, seeds, peanuts, beef jerky...). Also drink lots of water. Bump your intake so you have to stop at every urinal in order to not piss your pants.
Finally, get to know people, exchange phone numbers, make friends and quit.
P.S. All of the Bold and underlined words above are links to locations on this site.
Sincerely,
Pinched

Congrats, you properly posted roll on your first try...some kind of genius?
Almost everybody screws it up first try.
You're still suffering from withdrawal, takes 3-4 days, some might be longer but that is the average. I't's going to suck for a while, until it doesn't, then it won't.
Remember the pain of these early days and never repeat them.
Be strong, my friend. Lots of water and exercise.

Mario,
First, welcome. you will find all of the help and tools you need to quit right here at KTC if you choose to use them. You're going to experience a whole slew of symptoms, first physical, then transitioning to mental. You name the symptom and there are hundreds of folk here that felt it to. Let them guide you through it. It won't be easy and there may be a mix of 'good' and 'bad' days....but the trend will always be favorable to the good days.
I can't personally address the loss of appetite (most that I know, including myself) saw an increase in their appetite at first. However, there are a whole range of causes for the stomach pain. For one, nicotine is a natural laxative and your GI is going to be a little messed up for the next few weeks until your body figures things out...which it will, just give it time. Second, nicotine also fucks with the pH of your mouth (and to some extent, your GI) which can manifest itself with a whole bunch of unfriendly symptoms. Again though, all short term and your body will figure out how to do it's job without that poison in short order.
Start reaching out to your quit group and collecting phone numbers. If you need another one, just PM me.

I'm new here too and as I've already learned after 3 days you better post role everyday or these people here will get your ass, but they do it for your benefit and not just to be a dick.

Mario,
Good to see you successfully posted roll today. Nice job. It is the price of admission to this club. You need to make Roll part of your morning routine. If you shit/shower/shave in the morning, you better make Posting Roll part of it too. This site is part of your life now. Also, read your ass off on here. Pick a vet, any vet, and read their intro thread. Read the HOF speeches and the other forums. Join live chat. You will find you have a shit-load in common with the newest newbie, and the most bad-ass vet.
Also, exchange phone numbers with guys in your group and beyond. You will not believe how valuable a text message or a quick phone call at the right time can be. As your brothers and sisters here, we will hold your ass accountable. But you better put the effort into your quit and get freaky serious about it, or we will have your ass for lunch. No partial measures here. You are ALL IN.
Now go get your quit on.
ZC.

The only issue, since Wednesday morning I've had horrible stomach pains and no appetite.
Welcome to my world. 8 days for me and my appetite doesn't return until dinner, and even then it's only good for about half of what I would normally eat.
I've been doing yogurt in the mornings, and trying to drink milk because it's packed with calories.
I think now on day 8 my appetite is returning but I'm just so used to not eating that it will take me a bit to get it back all the way.

Look on the bright side...and least you're not like most of us and couldn't keep from stuffing your face with food all day to try and satisfy the oral fixation. I'm told it's not uncommon to put on between 10 and 15 lbs.
-
Hi Mario, go May quit! I also have lost some of my appetite. I figured I would have gained weight, but I think I lost a pound over the last 9 days.
-
I do the same thing, milk or pasta because it's high calorie and easy on the stomach. Actually everything is getting back to normal, not there yet but close. Day 10 and it feels like day 20
-
Yes, day 10 was definitely easier than day 3. I feel pretty good most of the time. Still some fog at times though.

Mario,
I was worried about you then when slug.go and I posted this. And I'm worried about you now that you're on the "where are these guys" list for May. Are you a real quitter?

Ugh, this thread is top-heavy with flaky quits. MB, Cheekbiter, Deepbrah, and Slug.go: let's get behind some other fellow Mayhemiacs that have shown some loyalty to the group by posting roll with better frequency than these guys. ZC and Peters6278: sorry you wasted your time.
