My name is Brian. I am 33 from Southeastern La.
Unfortunately I have been dipping for as long as I can remember.
I have failed a few times trying to quit, once making it around a month.
I don't know why I do it except for the habit. Often times when I take one out I wish I had never put it in. I get tired of relying on dip.
I have finally had enough. I want to be there for my 2 1/2 year old son and my wife for as long as possible. Even my son tells me yuck when he sees me spitting. I feel terrible when he does.
Wish me luck.

Alright Brian,
First off, great decision to get quit and you are in the right place. We all learned to quit here. You can too. First thing to do is post roll. Read the Welcome center (pink button on your top left) it will explain how and why we post roll.
Like I said, you can do this.....
You have to change some of your thinking. You need to read everything on here, and learn.
Here are a few of the standout problems with your thinking.
1) You don't need "luck" to "try" to quit. No luck or trying around here. We make a pact to quit one day at a time and we keep our word.
2) you never quit before.. you just stopped for a while. Now, you have the tools available to you to get this quit done.
3)Dipping isn't a habit. Putting on your seatbelt is a habit. What you have is an addiction. You are an addict, just like the rest of us. That is why you need the tools here.
You can do this, and you will find a brotherhood here that will support you like no other, but you have to buy into the KTC way, and dive headfirst into your quit, burning all connection to the nic-bitch in the evil can.
Glad to be quit with you.
Click my name, and send me a PM and we can exchange numbers. It may seem weird, but it is part of the KTC way... accountability... It will become clear with time.

It's not luck brother. And hoping won't help. This is something you need to want, then decide upon, then follow through with. You already know it's not easy, but it's worth it.
Admit to yourself that it's an addiction, not a habit. If it were a habit you could just throw some dirt in your lip get the same result for a hell of a lot cheaper. You're stuck on nicotine, just like everyone else that finds it difficult to quit.
Other guys will tell you that you can't quit for your wife or your kid. That's true, but I think wanting a future with your family can and should be a huge motivator. I know that I hate the idea of some other dude moving in on my family because I killed myself with a poisonous weed.
You can do this. Thousands of KTC members can help. Best advice I can give is to get to know the guys in your quit group. Get connected. Make your daily promise and keep it. Promise your wife every morning that you will quit that day. Once day at a time.

All good words from some good quitters... Pay attention to it. To me... You sound like you really need to be more ready.
Get on up to the Welcome Center link at the top of the page. Learn why we belong to a quit group and why we post a roll call/promise every day. Once you've done that... Spend all your free time devouring everything there is to read on this site. You will find inspiration, motivation, and dedication like you've never experienced. Quitting nicotine is gonna be one of the hardest things you've ever done. It will also be one of the most rewarding things you've ever done. Think about not being a slave to your "need" to have a chew... Think about NOT having your face fucked up because cancer has eaten it away... Think about having more money in the bank... Think about not lying/hiding/being ashamed anymore. Freedom bro... It's waiting for you. Are you gonna be one to do whatever it takes to have it? We're with you bro... Welcome to KTC.

From one 33 yr old Louisianer to another, you can do this. It sure ain't going to be easy, but its also very doable. And extremely worth it.
These guys have given good advice. Follow it.
Let me know how I can help.

No need for self doubt. Anyone can quit for a single day. The key is ensuring you are held accountable for your actions (by yourself, loved ones and internet weirdos). Welcome to the quit.

Hi Brian. I am glad that you found the site. You are gonna need it. Your post unfortunately reeks of failure. Lot of bad words in there:
1. Luck? there is nothing about luck in this process, it is do or do not, there is no try and there is luck
2. Habit? biting your nails is a habit. This thing is a little different. Addiction is a nasty beast.
I could go on but I think you might be getting it. Read, read, read Brian, the wisdom to quit can be found here, we will provide the support, you just bring the balls.

Balls...That is something many quitters struggle to show. See Brian, Its_Got2Happen understands how the Weed whispers softly with a seductive voice in our ear when we are at our weakest point. She plays unfair. She don't care about your habit she cares about you wanting and craving her more than your life. That ain't a habit that addiction. Get to know it and understand it thoroughly. Show you have a pair of nuts by posting EVERY DAMN DAY and getting connect with your November Quitters. PM me and I will give ya my number. Us DUCKS have a small text group that chats a little almost everyday. We stayed connected in case we need help. We are there to support each other and we care about each other. That is what we do as DUCKS and that is what KTC has taught us. Post Roll, Read, Get Connected, seek support, provide support. They only thing KTC can give you is the BALLS to be so committed you lay it on the line Every Damn Day by doing the things mentioned above and putting yourself out there. Don;t let her lie to you bub...You are not alone in this war!
Quit with you today! QUACK! QUACK!

I was prepped to go long on this one, but these guys have already layed down the gospel. Welcome to the site. Glad you're here. We're all in this together, and that's what builds accountability and makes quitting possible.
I will say that I intially quit because one of my 2-year-old (at that time) twins copied my spitting and thought it was cool. That was the biggest failure of my life - passing on a deadly addiction to my children. No way. Keep the focus on your son if that's what works for you. You owe him the courtesy of a good role model to follow, and he deserves a father who'll be around to see him grow up. Nicotine and cancer will nix both of those items from your relationship. It's just that simple.
Shout out if you need anything.

Welcome and get ready!
Proud to be quit with you.
The taste of freedom is so much better than any cancer in a can.

You definitely need to educate yourself about our enemy... Our foe is nicotine and you will stand a better chance of winning every day if you know what you are up against and what the cost is if you cave. Read everything you can on KTC as the knowledge is here. Post roll every day and keep your promise is the key, but the knowledge available here will help you so much.
