Hi All,
I found this site by accident and it appears to be what I have been looking for.
I have been using Skoal and Skoal Pouches for 33 years! In 2.5 hours, I will have made it one full day. Something I don't recall doing in the last 33 years.
It is hard, very hard, but I'm going to do my best to make it through tomorrow without tobacco.
Thanks, looking forward to meeting some folks here.

MB,
I see you posted roll today, great start. Do it again, every damn day.
No nicotine in any form, ever.
Keep updating this thread to remind yourself what the days felt like so you'll NEVER have to go through this again.
Go here index.php?showforum=13 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13) and read it all.
Read some HOF speeches, there are little nuggets of gold sprinkled all over this site, use it to your advantage. PM fellow May guys and build a web of support.
Welcome to May!

Welcome to the fucked up family of quit.
My advice: drink in everything you can from this site. The veterans have all kinds of helpful little tidbits that are available to assist you.
Buy in 100%. This site will NOT work if you do not buy in.
Get numbers and frequent the chat rooms; however, your posting roll every day is paramount for your success.
If you need anything PM me.
-
Welcome Mike Bravo, to KTC, the best damn group of quitters on this planet. Seriously, read all you can. Read the welcome center, the hall of fame speeches, go look at the quit groups and read some of the current intros. Read all you can.
Looks like you posted roll. That is the most important thing. Keep your word, post it and keep it That is all it takes.
Get to know the people in your quit group. Post, send Private messages, get phone numbers and make yourself welcome.
Last thing from me is (and Im going to bust your balls here) Don't do the best you can, there is no going back, there is no failure, you post roll you don't do nicotine. End of story. The rest takes care of itself. Welcome to your freedom from poison, you will always be an addict but you will be a nicotine free addict like the rest of us. It gets easier, I promise.

Thanks All for the welcome. I wish I would have found this site years ago. Maybe I wouldn't be on my first day.
I need to make a correction...I will make it today without the nic! I will see what tomorrow brings.

Now that's quitter language right there. We win, we use words that win, our actions are those of quitters, we don't give the nic bitch a reach around, we lay it to her.
-
welcome to the most bad ass collection of quitters on the web!! LIke you've already been told, read everything you can to learn about the nic bitch, read other people's bios, stay focused on today and post roll EDD

Dave
Day 1 on the site and you're talking the talk. Finish this day hard so you can say you walked the walk for a day. This is a HUGE accomplishment. Do not for 1 minute undermine the significance of 1 day quit. That 1 day quit for you is as important to the guy who is 1000 days quit. One day at a time brother. And when you get to day 2, and you will get to day 2, I'll quit with you all day long. Lets get in a habit of repeating this cycle. Sounds like a plan to me, hope it sounds like a plan to you.
-
Dave....
I am on Day 6...just like you I have dipped or chewed for years..all day long.
First couple of days are tough..no lie.
There will be a few times that you may have trouble focusing on doing the simplest task...it will pass.
Drink water until you cant drink anymore...chew 12 pieces of gum if you need too...
Day 6 aint to bad....see you there soon...

Glad your with us MB. the only thing I'd like to add is this: if you truly want to quit then you will fully embrace the tools and system here at KTC. Your story is similar (it's almost cliche) to 1000s of others here. So please believe us when we say it works. Read it all and understand it. The path is laid before you. Simply follow it.
I quit with you today.

WOW! I won two days! And I will win tomorrow!
Work has been tough. I'm behind a computer 75% of the time and to help I kept KTC all day. Looking at it every couple of minutes really helped.
BTW, thanks for all the encouragement! It really does help. I'll be posting day 3 tomorrow.

MB,
Please go to the WELCOME CENTER and read everything, only takes a few minutes. Then arm yourself with gum, mints, jerky whatever you'll be using as a substitute.
Drink LOTS of water. When a crave hits, bang out some pushups, go for a walk...anything. PM guys here and trade numbers to build your support network. READ all over this site, lots to be learned. Don't worry about tomorrow, we're just going todo this one day at a time. Welcome to May!

I'm thinking Mike Bravo is kicking ass in two different intro's. Any Mods on here want to merge these?
Mike Bravo, just post under your initial intro but keep on quit man. I'm NOT busting your balls on this one, just helping a brother out.

Not a problem Mogul. As soon as I posted a new topic I realized I should have replied to the original...so thanks for the merge.
Well, on to my quit! I just made it thru Day 3 and will make it thru Day 4 tomorrow. I know this may not seem like much, but I've been dipping for 33 years and don't think I missed a day in all those years. I can feel it, I'm going to win this one.
More tomorrow...and thanks all for the support!!!

I totally got where your coming from. In 25 years I never went a whole day without using. I never had the tools necessary to make that one day. Now with the tools that ktc provided i have managed to string together 370 days straight. I cant tell you how many more I'm going to string together. I can tell you that tomorrow I'm going to wake up with the same promise I've made each and every day for the last 370 days.
Post roll and keep your word brother. You won't believe what you've been missing out on. Freedom, feel it, taste it and start living it. I know the first 3 or 4 are the hardest it gets easier quicker then you think.
Recommend you begin reading all the information you can on nicotine/addiction. Start putting knowledge in your arsenal. Makes the battle easier. Knowledge is power. Learn your enemy, you can bet it knows you. Need a number let me know.

Day 4 is done and I was quit for one more day! Will win Day 5 tomorrow.
Something interesting happened today. I usually commute on my motorcycle to work just about everyday (Coastal SC). On quit days 1-3 I was so foggy in the morning that I wasn't sure it was safe to ride. However, I rode and all was fine. Today, day 4, my morning commute on the bike was just the opposite. Everything was so clear and I felt like I was part of the bike again. This was a great feeling and I hope it means the nicotine is working its way out of my body. Anyone else experience something similar?
BTW, thanks for all the encouragement. It really (and I mean really) does help!

remember that feeling, as you will go through the ups and downs, but it is this feeling of clarity and being on top of everything that makes this fight so worth it

Keep it up. Get more active in your group. They need a little more grassroots support. The bonds you build in your group tend to be the strongest. Being tempered in the same fire tends to build better connections. Barring that you'll always have me if you want. All you have to do is ask.

Thanks all for the support! Day 15 in the books and I will post roll by 7am tomorrow. BTW, I actually drank a full beer last night and the craves were not too bad. Up to this point I only allowed myself a half a beer. So, I'm making progress and winning!
mb289
-
Yes you are winning MB. Day by day. Awesome.
-
After 16 days I feel pretty good, sleep well and can drink a beer again. BUT, the craves are still strong at times! I will not cave, but I would have thought by this time it would have been easier. Day 17 quit one more day.

Brutha... You used Skoal for 33 years. That is a long time and the poison messed with your body in ways you can't imagine. It takes time to heal. You will not be fixed overnight so don't be worried. In time it will get better, but for now, try to relax and just stay quit today. You are on the path!
-
Mike Bravo, Derk is exactly right. There are going to be great days ahead of you followed by some crappy ones. Use the good days as a springboard to get over the bad. Before long the good days will outnumber the bad. I remember me and George Hayduke were texting and he and I laughed because we hadn't thought about dip for an entire day. What a win that was. That was about day 60. so just as Derk says, relax and enjoy your ODAAT. Having a "no crave" day is kinda like getting laid, one day it just surprises you and rewards you for doing the right thing.
-
Thanks Mogul and Derk. Just what I needed. Day 17 pretty good and will quit for day 18.
mb289
-
Day 19 quit and doing well. Couple of craves that didn't last too long. ODAAT.
mb289

repeat EDD, mb, EDD!

Mb sorry for the bump this mirning. You fixed it before i could get to it !!!! Quit on brother. You are winning!!

Not a problem! It happens. Quit on!
And Slug.go...absolutely!

Day 33 in the books! That's one day quit for every year I dipped! It's getting easier and I don't think about Skoal every minute. Still having strong craves after dinner, but they are short and fairly easy to deal with. I might be a little optimistic, but I'm going to beat this. Quit on with KTC!

Way to go MB! I love reading about guys turning the corner and getting a glimpse of how great life can be for us without this poison in our lives. Its even better after 100 and the long time Vets would tell us its even better after that! Stay Vigilant and never forget its ODAAT! Nothing can touch us if we just remember that!

mb289 - I had something really weird happen to me after dinner out with my wife tonight...we got in the truck and I had a craving. For the first time in over a decade it was a craving for chewing gum....not dip or even my fake dip...it was awesome.
Keep working...it gets better...odaat.

Checking in on day 40 and my quits going well. Plenty of craves but I'm able to handle them. I'm finding I can do the normal day to day things without chew. It is a change but a good change. I continue to Quit ODAAT with all Mayhem.

Well this is day 50, half way to HOF! As much as I want to celebrate this milestone, the fight continues. I still crave several times a day and still think how nice it would be to have a chew. But, it's not going to happen! Never again will I be a slave to the can or go thru this again. Make no mistake, my quit is strong as ever! I quit with Mayhem, ODAAT and EDD.

Great job on 50 mb. But you need to learn to hate that shit. It wouldn't be nice to have a dip, nothing about it would be nice. It would be fuckin gross, and would probably make you light headed and shitty feeling anyways at this point. Learn to despise that crap and your quit will improve greatly. Quit on Brotha

This is day 83 and I'm going strong and heading toward HOF! I just passed a very difficult situation for me. Spent the last three days, two nights motorcycling and camping in the mountains. This normally involved a lot of chewing. I had some strong craves the first night, but got through them and had almost none the second night. This is huge for me! Anyway, quit on you fine quitters of KTC!

Isn't it a great feeling when you kick that bitch in the teeth. I love those moments when I win the war for that day. Keep vigilant, keep bringing the fight to her. We can do this!

Isn't it a great feeling when you kick that bitch in the teeth. I love those moments when I win the war for that day. Keep vigilant, keep bringing the fight to her. We can do this!

Thanks all! I gotta tell you it feels damn good to make 100 days quit! Six months ago being quit for 100 days was just a dream that I never thought would happen. But, it did. This site and the kick ass quitters on it are the ones that helped me do it. So..............THANKS! Now it's back to work quitting ODAAT for the next 100 days.
