Hello,
Im new to here so if I do this wrong let me know.
Im from Southern California and Have been chewing for about 4 years now. I started when I first became an EMT and it was pretty much when you worked you chewed so I fell into the habit easily. I on average would chew about a can and half a day. I quit on the 15th of this month. Its going to be tough cause I'm in medic school and its a really stressful time for me to quit but I really want to do this.

Welcome to Kill the Can. You can do this. The support you need is all here on this site. Reach out to people, navigate around the site, do live chat, do daily roll call, get involved. This is day 18 for me and trust me it gets easier as you move forward. I know it seems hard right now, but life can be lived without the can. In fact, life is so much better knowing that you have the power within to kill this addiction.

Welcome, I'm new here too.. I know the feeling well, stress is one of my main triggers as well. And I have pretty bad anxiety and the chew seemed to calm me down for awhile so I really used it as a crutch. Almost to day 2.... Stay strong man!

Addiction.
You need to understand that if you're to move forward. You're situation is no tougher the anyone else's. Quitting is hard in every circumstance. You're circumstances aren't special.
I chewed 2 cans a day for 25 years. I quit cold turkey 643 days ago.
If I can... You can.
No excuses... Jump in with both feet, man. Get involved and stay involved. It'll save your life.

It doesn't make a shit when you quit, it is never any easier now than later. Nicotine does not help you with stress...your addicted mind just uses it as a crutch.
If your in medic school, use the tools at your disposal to learn all you can about your addiction....the truth will set you free.
Not gonna lie...this can be tough, but it really isn't that bad if you put your mind in the right place and learn to hate your foe--nicotine.
You can do this. All you have to do is not put that nasty shit in your mouth.

Like you I am also a student, so I know its tough because of the stress but then again a lot of guys on here are doctors, cops, firefighters which makes me realize that it could be so much worse for us. If I were you id start posting roll everyday, get involved with the livechat when you can. theres a lot of good people in there, both newbies like us and guys and girls who have been quit for long periods of time. learn from them, take their advice. its going to be a tough journey for the first few days. Im on my 9th day and I can alright tell you that youll begin to feel better about yourself.

Roll is a promise you make every day not to use any form of nicotine. We keep track of our days, and we can tell whose really not been checking in lately. Which can be important because its always good to be able to give someone a text or call to make sure they are alright. I'm not sure where the directions are on here to post roll and I'm pretty sure I've fucked it up at least 3 out of my 10 days so Im probably not the best help on the directions.

It's just a thing. Craves usually last less than three minutes. If you can redirect your mind for 3 minutes you can save your life and a butt load of money.
