Title: Greetings
Post by: klinger1986 on March 16, 2012, 08:56:00 PM
So I quit chewing 6 days ago. I have chewed for almost ten years now, and honestly can't even remember what it is like to live a life free of this shit. I have tried to kick the habit more times than I can count, but she alway beat me in the end. I'm sick of it though. I'm sick of this nasty habit controlling my life, dictating my every move and effecting my relationships. I hate that I know this stuff will kill me, and that I have thrown a million cans away, just to go buy another one two hours later. I am done. I have chewed a Can a day for almost a decade now, and my last dip ever will be March 10th 2012 at 10:05 pm. I found this site and thanked God. Finally a place where people will understand what I am going through. My name is Jonathon and I quit.

I'll tell you what life is like without nicotine:

It fucking rocks.

But, unfortunately, there is a price to pay for that freedom. These first few days suck.. They suck hardcore. But you can get through it.

Here at the KTC, we don't quit forever. We quit for today only. We also acknowledge that we don't have a habit. We have an ADDICTION.

We post our promise that we will not use nicotine every morning, and then we stay quit. Tomorrow morning, we log in to see what we're supposed to do next.

Take a look here (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13) and read more about what we are and what we're about. PM me if you have any questions.

Proud to be quit with you!

Thank you everyone for the warm greeting. It is such an inspiration to see so many quitters in one place haha. For real though. It feels great to be quit today. Sure I feel like putting my fist through a brick wall, but it feels even better to know that I am not letting that demon take me today. I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Good choice bro,

This is the only place I have ever found that actually helped a chewer quit and stay quit. Happy to quit with you. PM me if you need anything. This is not easy but I know it will be more than worth it.

Oh, and if you feel like putting your fist through a brick wall I would suggest not doing it. Instead, come on here and get your anger out on these boards...half of us are pissed off too and we know what's going on. We can all do this together, and you won't break your hand.

I took my anger out on the pavement today. Woke up this morning, and without even thinking opened by bedside table to reach for my can, but I found nothing. So, having those horrible morning cravings, I decided I would hop out of bed and go for a nice little fog jog; 30 min later and feeling like shit, but the cravings gone, I am checking out all the stories and staying quit!

There is a Words of Wisdom Section....good reading in there.

Also, pick an old group and read it from beginning to end. You'll see that the funks are normal and predictable. You'll also see the drama is inevitable. You'll also see how relationships are built and nurtured. April Groups are usually good because they have all the New Years Quitters. Damned freak shows...all of them.
