my name is Jack, 36yrs old. been chewing since high school and through my Army years. after noticing that my habit was up to 2 cans/ day @ nearly $5/ can, i knew it was time. So after 21.5 yrs of dipping Cope, Kodiak, and others i decided to end it all. last night (9/1/10) @ 12am CST i finished my goodbye tour and last can. so far so good, the fake stuff has been helping, and so have the seeds. looking forward to tomorrow when i can chalk up another day of freedom.

Way to go Jack!
Come back every day, don't chew, and pay attention!!!!

Good job on deciding to quite 10 bucks a day over 3500 bucks a year is a lot of money you will be able to put back in your pocket. these next few days are going to be hard but stick around here and ask people for help and support. I have only been here for about three weeks so probly not as much help as the vets are but I will be supportive if you need it.

You need to read everything you can on the site. You need to understand what it is we do here, and how we do it.
I will send you a PM ( Upper right corner ) (1 ) that will explain much of what you need to get started.
Welcome ! Get settled in and hold on..

It is nice to see another quitter on here that also works nights.

sorry i've been away guys. i had a rare 7 day break from work, so the wife and i took a small vacation. i did get to play golf one day, but the rest were spent with her and without the K- bear! i'll try to post at least once daily from here on out.
@ bigduke, i don't work nites all the time, we actually switch every 2 weeks. it gets old, i'd rather do either all nites or all days. oh well, it pays the bills

another day in the books!
today is a hard one for me, been struggling all nite, but have yet to even have a fake dip. been thru some seeds though. and gum, and jolly ranchers, starting to act like a tweaker, j/k i'm going strong, but think i may give in and have a Smokey Mt or Hooch Spitfire in a few. the good thing about the fake stuff (besides the obvious) is that i find i get tired of it and spit it out after a short time. i used to have a K-Bear or Cope in my mouth all day long. good to see that habit going into the dumpster too!

Keep going strong. Work days are harder for me than days at home.
December group is ripping a couple hundred bucks a day from US Tobacco ....feels good.

Weird, tougher for me at home than at work. But either way it's been 2 weeks and going strong.
We've got a good crew in the Dec group....stickin it to the bitch!!!

closing in on 2 weeks, i've decided to use the money i'm saving to buy a compact tractor for projects around the house. it'll be here sometime Monday morning. being a home owner is nice, but it seems like there is always something to be done. :)

one more nite shift, then 4 days off. gonna be a tough week cuz Momma is away in Memphis. just me and the boys ( Buddy- 6yr old Husky/ Aussie shepherd, Ranger 2 1/2 yr old black lab, and Rocky a 1 1/2 yr old lab/ shepherd mix) and my new tractor. :D

'winker' in the home stretch now, for work that is! day 13 just began and i'm lovin' the quit! so far day 8 was the toughest, got a bit testy. Momma was real good to me though, had to apologize quite a few times. been feeling a lot better since!

another strong week in the books. up to day 18 now and time is flying. not missing the nic and the anxious feelings are waning. do miss the feel of a dip in my lip, but the fake stuff is quelling my fixations, plus i hate the fake stuff so after a few minutes i'm ready to spit it out. soon i'll not even want a fake chew, thanks for the help and support, gang. today is the start of week 3. feeling good, staying strong and quit.

days off and monotony at work tend to be my worst triggers. i have found that i don't want a real dip, but i have wanted a fake one. so i am pushing those cravings away as well, it leads to more anxious feelings, but i'm winning!

another entry to my journal. next week i will be taking a trip to Nebraska to another Powerplant. i am hoping the guys going with me (3 dippers 4 non-) will help keep me occupied and the Hooch will help battle any cravings. the plant is a no- tobacco site so those guys will be having some trouble. i may be able to convert 1 or 2, i'll give it a try. after i get back from Nebraska, the wife and i are on vacation till OCT 24. heading east to Niagara Falls, then the Finger Lakes of NY, back to the OC, then NYC. our trip back takes us thru PA into Canton, Columbus and back to Missouri. gonna visit a couple of old Army buddies in Columbus, one of them i see yearly but the other i haven't seen since '97. should be a great couple of weeks, and we will celebrate our 8yr anniversary either in NF or the Finger Lakes. while i'm gone i may not get to post every day, but i'll try to keep in touch with someone to post roll for me. stay strong, stay quit!
