Title: I need to quit
Post by: RKPB on July 26, 2013, 02:42:00 AM
Hi,

I'm 24 years old. I started dipping in high school for wrestling to cut weight and because everyone else was doing it. I didnt do it much but then came college. All of my buddies that I played Rugby with dipped. At one point a ihad a friend whose room was literally filled with dip bottles that he never threw away. I have seen some disgusting things and how bad it can be. After college i was unemployed for some time. I had to move back in with my parents and found myself leaving cups out. Ugghh i shudder when i think about it. Eventually I found a job and was able to hold it off during the days by dipping after work. However now I have gotten to a point where I cant go a few hours without a dip. What's worse was the during my unemployment I gained a fair bit of weight. And i can see and from what ive read that tobacco i s contributing to my laziness. I work hard and its fine but i need to better myself in so many other ways. Writing this now makes me realize I do have a problem and tried to quit so many times. Its not enough. I ordered some tobaccoless alternatives just a few moments ago. Anyway Just need to get that out there

You are obviously disgusted by your addiction, and that's a good place to start. You're right, you do need to quit, and you've come to the right place. We would love to quit with you, and lend you any support that you may need.

You say you can't go a few hours without a dip, but you're wrong. I know that you could go 2 hours, then button down and go 2 more, and continue for a full day. If you can go a day, you win. We quit one day at a time here. Then we sleep. Then we quit one more day.

Make the decision to quit. Right now seems like a good time. Dump your can and get started. Read up on the site, learn how to post roll (our daily promise not to use), then quit with us.

Thrilled to have you here.

OK RKPB you can be new quitter #5 for November roll. There are at least 35 supports who posted along side the newbies. I hope today's the day for you, after all you're not 24 anymore! Time to put your money where your mouth is bro! First few days are rough -- get some numbers, text, call or whatever it takes to get through the worst part then start the shit work of staying clean. It's good stuff. Check your inbox for numbers then go!

Get rid of every bit of tobacco you have. Flush it. Then turn around, walk out the door, shut the nicotine door and NEVER look back. Make a total mental commitment. That's how you will succeed. Then go to your computer, post roll in November's group, and read everything on this site. If you get tired of reading, go run a mile, come back, read more. Whenever you have a nic urge, workout. Drink lots of water and chew gum or spit seeds...whatever it takes. Hut DO NOT ever usr nicotine again.

Great advice from all these guys.

I just have a question??

DID YOU COME TO QUIT OR JUST SAY YOUR TIRED OF THE POISON?

I was tired of the poison years before I quit. Took me years before I got so sick of the poison taking my money, integrity and dignity that I finally said enough was enough.

If your just here talking about it, screw the poison. If your here to take your life back, we got you. Lets do it!!

You don't have to do it alone, we are here for you. Post roll and lets get to quitting. What's it going to be??????????

Welcome RKPB

I can't add anything particularly new or witty to what these fellas have already said. I can reiterate Srans point that YOU must be completely and totally READY to quit. Not for the money, family, work, yadda, yadda, yadda, not for any reason but you are ready to reach down deep and pluck your freedom back from what we at KTC refer to as the Nic Bitch. I have come to believe that once you make that CHOICE with complete commitment, embrace the site and the system, and faith, faith that what these guys that have come before you no matter how many days, months or years are telling you that it will get better if you just keep quitting. A day at a time, if we can quit today....so can you.

So, stand up, post roll and lets get to quitting bud!

I will be proud to quit with today.

RK,
You've read some good words here.

You must join with both heart and mind 100% ready to quit. Every single day! One day a time is so simple, but when you start out it may seem trite or something for alcoholics. It IS the way you will kiss this idiotic addiction goodbye.

Post roll every damn day. Get to know your group. Reach out when you feel a bad crave coming on.

Welcome to KTC.

'dance' 'dance' Lets get some quit on. You won't be sorry. Post roll, make some friends, exchange numbers and stay the course. You are now free brother. Smell it, feel it and savor it. We weren't meant to be lead around by a can of poison. By the way, 16 Hours means day 2. I quit with you.

GREAT decision bro!!! I'll quit with you today. No matter what, no matter how bad it gets, don't put any nicotine in your body today. its that simple. Dont worry about forever, just quit today.

To help you thru the craves and the feeling of "somethings missing from my mouth", I recommend you stock up on gum, sunflower seeds, hard candy like jolly ranchers and fireballs, and herbal fake chew. Drinking LOTS of water will help clear your system out, and any type of exercise you like is always helpful for irritability and anxiety.

PM me if I can help you in any way, and welcome to the site!!!

Rick

Wrestlers and sucking weight....we have that in common. Now you have the coach and the tools to go undefeated with the nic bitch!

I quit with you today. I hope it is hard, I hope you fight. If this is hard and you fight through it, it gets easier and you won't see any value in a loss to nicotine.

KTC taught me how to go undefeated with the tin can of shit. You can too. Wrestling and rugby? You got this battle. Just listen to the vets and learn the laws of quit. Just show up here every damn day. Post roll and battle.

You get to where you like it. 'rem'

Welcome. Now that you are quit, just don't start.

Looks like you got this quit going strong bro, so keep up the fight one day at a time. Call / PM if you have any need to reach out, do it frequently and it's all worth the work to stay nic free.

I have to say quitting is the most counter intuitive and productive thing I have ever done. i guess quitters do win. Also im on my 4th day of quit and just incredibly irritable(which even when I was on the stuff was the norm). Thank God everyone is busy at work I dont think i could handle my superiors being up my ass today.

Ah yes, the DEEP fog. It doesn't last long, maybe a day or two. Irritability will stick around a while. You're learning to deal with life without your nicotine self-medication. You'll get there. Someone told me this: it sucks until it doesn't, and then it wont. No, not particularly helpful, but it indicates a light at the end of this tunnel. You're on your way.

Actually the sucking until it doesnt was surprisingly helpful. Its started to suck considerably less. The worst is really just the end of the work day. Thats when i crave hardest.

I used fake for about 150 days then just put it down. The opinions vary on fake but if it keeps you quit then enjoy.

I also used seeds, gum, candy, straws.

STAY QUIT

Our next stop is in Virginia Beach, VA to pick up RKPB. He's a swinging single quitter that started at the age of 15 and chewed his share of Grizzly Wintergreen before taking his freedom back here at KTC. He plans to celebrate his 100 days with a steak and some adult beverages. Aside from quitting, RKPB works in mortgage lending, enjoys rugby and crossfit. He appreciates Dabean and anyone else that reminded him to post roll. Mjollnir is a big inspiration for his quit. Well RKPB, welcome to the train and like one of your favorite movie stars Arnold said once in Predator..... "Stick Around!"

Congrats RKPB!

Ladies and gentlemen, one of our brothers has fallen to the nic-bitch. RKPB has been fighting with craves for a long time and somehow got it into his head that a cigar would be just the relief he needed. He was wrong and feels like shit. He's working up the words to post roll day 1 and explain what happened. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that a day 1 is coming.

Addiction is a bitch! Lets see where his head is. One and done or go the weekend before day 1.
Sigh. Anyone near 100. There is a post hall of fame funk!

Many feel like the craves are as strong as the first two weeks.

The post hall funk usally breaks by about day 125, then it is pretty easy until 240-280.

Notice that the funks are farther apart? It gets easier...

Quit every day. You don't deserve one for being good.

Seriously would you reward yourself with just a taste of your vomit?

You rid your body of poison. You're an addict not a dog! Dogs eat their own vomit! We should protect ourselves! A turd is a turd even if someone polishes it!

This is and always will be cunning but it is no good or a reward!

We ride the razor's edge every damn day because we are addicts. Our minds and bodies are now tainted with the finger print of nicotine and there's no way to erase it. The quit progresses from second by second at the beginning.. then moment to moment ... then day by day but it never ends. Renew your fight every damn day!
