Hi Everyone,
This is my 3rd time trying to quit but the first time I am doing it smart. I have been dipping Cope Long Cut for about 7 years although my very first dip was when I was 15 (15 years ago.) I have been at a can a day for about the last 6 years. My previous attempts to quit were both cold turkey including no outlet to talk about my struggle and no way to help deal with the oral fixation. Being a truck driver the oral fixation is something that helps keep me alert on the long stretches and chewing gum or sunflower seeds always left my mouth sore. By happen chance I saw an ad for Grinds coffee pouches on facebook and started doing a little research. My research led me to this site and the review for Smokey Mountain Snuff (SM).
I went out that night and bought my first can of SM and threw away my last can of Cope. That was 11 days ago. Once I discovered I could buy it at Sheetz convince stores I decided right then and there that there was no going back and when I felt the need for a dip I had a viable option most anywhere on the east coast.
I have been able to go a week at a time between dips (my honeymoon, vacation out of the country) without having any real issues other than constant cravings so I always lied to myself saying that I wasn't addicted but just enjoyed the taste. I realized this was not the case when I had to lie to my wife about still doing it after we got married (that was the supposed 2nd quit date.) I was able to hide it for the most part for the better part of a year but as with any lie I got caught. While she was mad she told me that I had to quit for myself and not her despite her hatred of the habit.
This too turned out to be false. We are expecting our first child in March and I realized that I am being selfish by continuing to gamble with my health, the trust of my wife and the future I want for my kid(s). I have quit and this time I am going to do it smart. I am going to get the support I need and I am using SM as a fix for my oral needs. I want to thank the admins of this site and its contributors for helping me discover there are ways for me to hold strong while still weaning off the habit of having something in my lip

Great decision. Eleven days by yourself is hardcore. You'll find yourself surrounded by an army of quitters if you want to be active in this site.
By your quit date I think you qualify for my quit group - December 2015.

We do this one day at a time here. Every damn day. Post roll and I quit with you today.

Thanks,
I just entered my roll call into the December group. If I can make it past day 35 then I feel like I will really be on the road to quitting for good as that is the longest I have gone (first time trying to quit.) Every day is a step in that direction though so one day at a time.

Congratulations on the decision to quit!!!!
Post roll and keep your promise to yourself and to this brotherhood that you will not use nicotine for that day.
Drink lots of water and read around this site. The hall of fame and words of wisdom got me through my first week.
There are hundreds of fellow quitters here ready to help and all it costs is making that promise on roll call every day.
Reach out and make some friends.
I am proud to quit with you today.

I'm at day 28 myself. Prior to the last four weeks I've had nicotine in my body for 35 years. I always used to think I could just quit whenever I wanted. This time I actually did quit and it has been a wild ride. :P
Drink a lot of water and read the threads here and the stories on the main page. There is a lot of great information here - I'm still reading.

Hey!
Welcome to the site, and well done on posting roll! All of us have our own milestones. They're important, for sure. But make sure to count the other ones on the way. Actually, going even a day without dip is worth patting yourself on the back, whether you're at day 2 or day 2,000.
Either way bro, we're all here for you, and I'm proud to take a step in the right direction with you today.

So true, every day is a victory. Roll call gets us to 100 days if one sticks with it. Obviously no one is "cured" after 100 days. It's just a milestone on the journey forward. I'm going to be nicotine free from this day on out - but I know I will need help sometimes. I'll help you - will you help me?

Great intro Wes. Proud to quit with you today.

Post roll EDD and Odaat! Congrats on the best thing you've ever done for yourself and family! Damn proud of you! Quit on!

So last night I sat down after dinner with my wife and told her about KTC and the daily commitment to roll call. She doesn't really understand the control the bitch has/had over us so she has just been frustrated in the past if the topic ever comes up. I explained to her that the accountability this group provides means she will never have to ask again if I am dipping. She can be my wife and not my nagging conscience, that is what you guys and gals are now providing.
Thanks again for not only being there but because you are there for me, my relationship with my wife is growing as well.

Good for you Wes and nice intro. I can guarantee that if you continue to post roll and keep your promise every day, you will control your addiction instead of vice versa. Don't take the emotional part of your quit out on your wife. She didn't do this to you. YOU did this to you. The benefit of KTC is you can take it out on us because we do understand.
You've got this man. Quit hard every damn day (EDD) and we will be there right along with you.

So here I am at day 22 and I realize the fog is lifting. I swore for the first week that the whole fog thing wasn't hitting me and I didn't know what people were talking about then all of week two I was forgetting this or that, staring aimlessly, etc and it finally hit me, I WAS in a fog. The cravings are waning (the oral fixation is still there but Smokey Mountain has been great.) The light at the end of the tunnel is actually there. Quit with December Disciples, quit with all of KTC. Thanks especially to Stranger for keeping check on me.

Keep on going, it's up hill for awhile, then it levels off, then back up hill but eventually it levels off alot. I'm sure you've read on here where guy's have some very powerful cravings up in the 500, 600 and higher. It's a part of life we must learn to deal with. I want this more than the girl next door when I was growing up and believe me, that's alot. We can do this together! You're doing great! Quit on my brother!
