Hey all. Haven't technically had a chew since 13:00 today and it is now 22:09. Officially I'm quitting starting tomorrow morning though. I've been chewing since I was 17 and I'll be 29 this month, so I'm ready to be done! No more $hit in my teeth, looking for a place to spit, or drowning on my own spit waiting for someone to stop talking to me.. Haha. Gotta admit I'll kind of miss it. Ha!
I do have a question for anyone that could answer though. How or where can I post my roll call starting tomorrow morning?? Pretty excited about that! I was looking in the quit group area but I'm not sure i'm really following on what you do. Can I just post in any of the threads? Do you copy the whole list and add your name at the bottom?
Thanks ahead of time for the help!

Welcome, you are doing a great thing for yourself. Posting roll means that you are committing to not use Nicotine in any form. Post roll and keep your word.
Read Items 1-4 on the following link. That will get you started.

Awesome thanks guys! I'll start my roll posting tomorrow morning in the April 2011. Woohoo!

Congrats Short! No reason to start saving your own life. Stay focussed, read everything you can on this site, post roll and keep your word. Also, come up with a plan to deal with craves...mine was the "contract" that is floating around on this site...just ask for it and somebody will send it to you. Also, get some numbers in your quit group. You're not in this all by yourself. We're with you. You can do this.
-
You can most definitely do this. Use this site. The info you get here is great. The vets around here are always willing to give advice. The BEST thing though, the thing that has made ALL the difference with me is the accountability. Post roll each day. Give your word to your brothers and sisters that you WILL NOT USE. Then it becomes this: are you a man of your word? Keep your word each day. Just quit one day at a time. Proud to be quit with you!

You guys are all great! Thanks a lot for the quick support. Posted my first roll call today and it felt amazing. I agree and think the roll call will be one of the most helpful tools. I couldn't wait to post this morning and now waiting to see who else posts.
Great site guys! This place will no doubt be instrumental in my staying quit.

I failed at quitting many times before...usually after aweek or two. I'm at Day 120. The ONLY thing that I've done different is use this site. I owe so much to the guys on this site.
Stay focused, stay quit. You can do this!

Need to quit. 6 years with a tin-a-day (or more) addiction to Kodiak and didn't know how much it was affecting my life. All the time, money, areguments, i hate it. Can't believe how addictive this stuff is.
Today will be my first day without dip in so many years, i cannot even remember. It's going to be tough. I've tried to quit before. I like the support shown on this site.
Looking forward to quitting with you guys.

Kbear, you and me brother! Day 1, we got this.
So far the people on this site seem freakin' awesome. Really supportive. Makes you really want to keep your word and not let anyone down.

'Remshot' You two are in the April group now. Ever seen the Navy Seals "Hell Week" on television?
That's childs play compared to how tough we're gonna be if any one of us fucks up.

If I fall and let you guys down then I deserve whatever I get..
...That isn't going to happen.
On another note. I see a lot of other groups created names for their group. Pretty cool idea and I've seen some creative ones.
I'm thinking April 2011 needs a name..
What do you guys think?

Welcome, April brothers!!
Quick advice from a newbie who also has made it through The Suck. This is what the vets will tell you, and it helped me a ton:
1. Post roll every day. This is your commitment to the group that you will not use nic in any form that day. Just one day, that's all we ask. Then post roll the next day.
2. Drink a ton of water - nicotine is water soluble, so the more you drink, the faster it gets out of your body. You want to piss clear and if you can a couple times an hour.
3. Because you're drinking so much water, take extra vitamins - especially B and C, because these are also water soluble and wash right out of your system. B helps with your nervous system, which is a train wreck right now, so don't skimp on this. Take a vitamin a couple times a day, or with each meal. Whatever you don't need will come out on its own.
4. Get involved - in live chat, on the boards, get numbers from others. PM me and I will hand mine out to anyone. I may be new at this, but if you need support, I will give it, and I will get support from doing that myself.
5. Hold yourself and other accountable. If you fuck up, admit it, and get back on the train. But don't expect it will be easy.
6. Embrace The Suck. it will make you never want to go through this again.
Work hard, and you will succeed.

Thanks for the words of encouragement gents! Well, first day has been going a lot better than I had expected. Been at work since 06:30 and it's now 13:32. Mid day check in:
I've been eating a lot, all day.
Gnawing and sucking on cinnamon toothpics like a crazy man
Toungue is numb, see above
I've had this strange buzz all day today too. Almost lightheaded but it doesn't feel bad. Like a nicotine buzz without the nicotine. Weird.

the buzz you feel is the fog. Eat all you want right now and only focus on your quit.

Fog. That's exactly what it feels like too. Can't focus on any one thing very well. I was a little nervous about it. Relieving that you knew exaclty what I was talking about and I'm guessing it's pretty common then, haha. Is that from the lack of nicotine? How long does it typically last?

I had it for three weeks. Sucked. I am just a little a bit ahead of you. Day 29. Rock on brother.

I'm on day 43. My initial fog lasted about a week. Then returned with a vengence about 20 days in. Only lasted about 3 days at that point. Just focus on today and know that each day it gets a little better, even if you can't feel it at exactly that moment. I'm kind of odd, I liked the fog and the physical stuff. The pain seemed proof to me that my body was healing, that I was breaking free. To each his own I guess. You can do this. Just stay focused on your quit, protect it, be proud of it. Quit for today, or like I had to do in my first week, quit for the next 15 minutes, then repeat. It does get better. You can be free.
Proud to be quit with ya!

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I thought I'd be craving harder than I am. Every so often I get this happy feeling like "time to put in a chew", then I have a reality slap when I quickly realize that's not happening. Then it all goes away. Max of 10-15 seconds. It doesn't really bother me too much either.
All in all I'm feeling pretty damn good. Nice knowing you're bettering yourself by the minute.

DAAAAMN THAT STUNG!!! Whew. I've been waiting because I had a sore on my gums and my tongue has felt raw as hell. But shit, I figured day 5, feeling kind'a cocky, I'm listerining this fucker. I'm pretty sure charlie was here and swapped out the listerine with napalm, because that shit hurt. I can't even fake it, like after you finish basic training and tell everyone that it wasn't shit.
Definitely made my eyes water. Can't wait to do it again in the morning!
