Similar story-started at age 15, now 36, married with 4 great kids. I planned and quit many times prior, but never last past a day. Here I am on day 3, not missing it, dealing with cravings and other stuff, knowing that this is the best thing to do for me and my family. I know i can stick with this and I never plan on going back to dip again for the sake of my health and more importantly for my kids. Great site

Good for you. I am on day 9 but i am cheating in a way and using Chantix. I have found that if i have something in my mouth or more specifically in my gum where a dip used to be, I found that this REALLY helps when the cravings hit. i use Smokey Mountain or even peach tea.

I don't think Chantix would be considered to be cheating.

I tried cold turkey a few times. only made it a day or two. Chantix is working REALLY well but I'm not doing it on my own like others, that is why I called it cheating. But if it is cheating then so be it. Atleast i will be done with the can.. :D

I agree, whatever it takes to help you quit. I took Chantix for 2 weeks prior to quitting skoal completely.I continued to take it as prescribed for about 2 1/2 months. I am no longer taking chantex and am 6 months quit.
I was scared to come off the Chantex, I gradually decreased my dose taking one pill a day for a couple weeks and then just stopped. I did not have any problem when I did. I'm glad your here and please dont think of it as cheating. Whatever works to get you off dip.
I myself condsider Chantex a miracle drug! I wish it would have been around when my dad needed to quit smoking or die....
he never could quit cold turkey.
I'll get off my soap box now and just say glad your here.
