It is the eve of my HOF and I've come to realize I haven't posted an intro yet. Better late than never right?
I had my first dip when I was in 7th grade. Skoal Peach long cut. My older brother and his friend called me a bitch until I threw one in. After 15 minutes I gutted it on accident and was sick for the rest of the day. I swore dip off that day. That lasted until the summer before I was a senior in high school. I was playing football (for cap70 ironically) and some of the guys on the team always had it on them. I started to bum a few here and there after rough practices and this was where my addiction started at the age of 17. I was lucky enough to get a full ride to play at The University of Tennessee. My dipping took off and I was going through 1.5 tins a day easy, some days 2. I noticed how frequently I was using and that my gums were starting to recede/crack and bleed every time I brushed.
I had tried to quit multiple times and even made it to 90 days by myself before. But what always got me was family. After college I moved back in with my Parents. My mother is the only person in the family who doesn't use nicotine. My father is 58 and smoked since he was 16. I have 3 brothers who all smoke and chew. I also have a younger sister who smokes. Wherever I turn there is some sort of nicotine around. Most days I could avoid thinking about the tin on the counter or act like the smell of smoke doesn't make me crave a dip, but there would always be that one day where I was feeling sorry for myself and I would let the little nic bitch win.
I have since gotten into Coaching and Teaching and am privileged to work under Cap70. He turned me on to KTC and at the age of 23 I am proud to be quitting with him and the rest of you.
