Title: CLW
Post by: CLW on June 24, 2014, 08:28:00 PM
After reading through many of the introductions, I have discovered that my story is not a unique one. First dip in college, up to a can every couple of days, then 12 years later I find myself at a can a day. I have gone anywhere from 2 to 30 days since then with nicotine gum and/or the patch. However, at the end of the day I always went right back. Part of it was nostalgia, part boredom, but mostly I couldn't function without it.

You have met my brother-in-law (oxman). Like he said, I feel shame at the way I have to hide this garbage from the ones I love the most. I have said "no" to doing things with my family in order to sneak a pinch. Enough is enough - time to get my priorities straight.

Lastly, addiction is mental weakness. I like to think I can "cowboy up" for and power through most things. For those I can't "tough" my way through, I can outsmart. That little can has proven me wrong (weak).

Enough is enough....cowboy the fuck up!

Welcome to the great decision that you have made.

read up on everything you can as it will be the knowledge to help you through. You will get tips on what to do, and what to expect coming up. You will unveil a part of yourself that has been hidden for so long.

so get ready for the wild ride, and remember it is not weak to reach out to others and ask for help, but it is actually the smartest thing that you can do as by doing so could save your life.

So make that promise each and every day, and honor your word, and I will quit right beside you.

welcome to quit CLW. You do not need nicotine, you will learn to do all things without it. You are not weak, you simply lacked tools. You will find what you need here. We will help, but only you can do the work to get free. You have to want it bad. Close the door, and bolt that bastard shut. Post roll early, and then nicotine is not an option. Just take it off the table for the day the moment you wake up.

Reach out if you need anything. It sounds like you already have some family support.

Nice start to the quit CLW, stay strong ... awesome you have Oxman to go through this with together. Take it one day at a time (ODAAT), and promise yourself and all of us everyday (by posting roll EARLY in the day) that you won't chew today. Just one day. Shit, you can make it one day, right? Cowboy the fuck up brother, and then do it again the next day ... they'll add up. You've got all of us too, I quit with you today! PM if you need anything, and stay strong!!

Things are much better today. The fog has decreased a bit from yesterday. The Smokey Mountain has really helped ease the transition. Stoked to see The Titans grow each day - could do without some of the drama on the board though. All things considered - this is where I need to be. Thanks for your continued support.

We all could use less drama, but as the saying around here goes "brothers fight". The other saying is "take what you need, and leave the rest", which means post roll daily, but if the drama is upsetting, disregard it if you can. Make quit brothers and sisters that share your interests and exchange numbers with them.

Proud to be quit with you today.

good to hear things are doing better. Some days will better and some will be worse. you just have to get through today and deal with tomorrow when it becomes today. Drama follows those who make drama, leave it be and focus on you and your quit with your Titans and whomever offers a hand. PM if you need a helping hand or a kick in the ass.

CLW, I agree with the drama being a bit much. I'm chalking it up to testy guys having withdrawals and the drama that was happening all over this place yesterday.

On a side note, tell Ox he better not cave. I am sticking my name out there for him and showing him someone else who fucking cares if he makes it or not. You two are family. Hold each other to a higher standard and do whatever it takes to QLF.
