Title: Hello
Post by: Clint A on January 02, 2014, 11:07:00 AM
My name is Clint. I have been addicted to nicotine for over 22 years. It all started with my attempt to impress a girl by smoking one of her cigarettes back in high school. I smoked for a few months then decided to quit by switching to chew. I have maintained a 2+ can/day addiction for close to 20 years. Like many other addicts, I have made several attempts to quit in the past, whether it was gum, patches, or lozenges. These measures only seemed to get me conditioned to a different nicotine delivery method which always led right back to the Copenhagen.
I am so tired of that silver topped can having such a large influence on my decision making, the troubles it is causing in my marriage with all my lying, and how it generally controls my life!! It is time for me to go cold turkey and get control of this addiction. I must admit my fear of having another failed quit but it wonÂ’t be today.

Thanks for having me.

That's the intro of a bad ass quitter! Welcome aboard and welcome to a whole new life. The process is simple, one day at a time (ODAAT) but it is also the most difficult thing you've ever done. Enjoy!

hey clint man welcome aboard.

you gave yourself 4 words you can live and quit by if you just remember them: 'it wonÂ’t be today'

you should tattoo that backward across your forehead... or just put a piece of paper by your bathroom mirror. whatever it takes - one day at a time. worry about tomorrow when it comes.

Thats good stuff Clint, and welcome! Quitting is difficult but thousands of us have done it, so just know that you can make it thru. It will get better as time goes on, but just take it one day at a time, or even 1 minute at a time if you need to.

Use distractions, like sunflower seeds, atomic fireballs, jolly ranchers, or fake/herbal chew. Anything that does not contain nicotine is fine. Find something that works for you.

Exercise is also a grea idea - it will relieve the stress and anxiety you are feeling right now.

Start chugging the kool-aid Clint. We all quit one day at a time (ODAAT) with you. Read everything you can on this site. You'll get motivated, scared shitless, and pumped up all at the same time. Take back your life now, it's the only one you get. Quit with you today.

PM if you need anything.

Post roll, promise it won't be today, make it to bed time, and repeat. Bro, I've never been able to even slow down dipping. Not even a pause. 35 years of dipping. But now I am Quit !!! And it feels great. One day at a time.

Clint you have an amazing set of badassed quitters gathering around you. You will not fail if you follow the plan here. Learn as much as you can, follow instructions, and take tips like our bro AJ below is giving you seriously- and you will do it. It might be the hardest thing you ever do, but you can and will do it. Let's get this thing going!

The biggest deal up front is posting role- you gotta do that, every day. That's your promise to yourself and others. It's the cornerstone of your accountabilty and support.

Hang in there brother. I have been on Cope for 23 years myself. Now I am 2 Days free. PM or email me if you need help. I feel like the shameless quitter with 4 different cans of fake dip, seeds, regular gum and mints. I am surviving though. ODAAT.

(I swear to God if the neighbor's kids scream at each other again my quit will involve solitairy confinement in a penitentiary.) 'bang head'
