Addiction Details: Dipped since football season, sophomore year. Previous quit was 30 days max in 2003. Rubbed pretty much anything. Most recently, I was hooked on stoker's long cut natural tubs. Addiction Details: Started dipping kodiak "the bear" and smoking cigarettes in high school because it was cool. Switched to cope long after a while and stayed with both thru college...smoked when i drank and chewed every other minute of every day. Quit both with the help of the patch a few years out of school...made it 2 years until smoking a cigarette and before i knew it i was chewing 2 cans per day. I got tired of wasting all my money, always needing to go by 2 cans, going to 6 different gas stations so i didn't look stupid, looking for spitters, drinking spitters, hiding my addiction, and always thinking i'd quit tomorrow.

Dipped on and off since then, mostly on. Quit for nearly all of 2010 and started back up like an asshole about this time last year. Got up to nearly a can a day at my worst. I hid it from my wife for nearly an entire year. Not sure how I pulled that off. Now I'm just glad to be off that shit. I do miss smoking a good cigar with my Dad now and then though.

Married: Newlyweds, yes. Have a lovely, southern wife.
Addiction Details: Tried dip for the first time around the age of 15 because all my friends were smoking and I didn't much care for it. Wanted to be a bit different and stand out, plus all of my baseball heroes dipped so what was the harm, right? Ha! "Quit" a few times here and there, but pretty sure I always smoked at least a couple a day, so not much of a quit. Got to graduate school and just got bored in the library and really started throwing them in. Guess I dipped pretty consistently for over 1/2 my life, which is pretty damn crazy.

Addiction Details: An ex-girlfriend gave me my first cigarette at age 15 and I smoked as high as a pack a day for about 5 years. I dipped throughout occasionally and then dipped primarily for 6 years. I was downing a can a day and hid it from my wife for 2 years. I had a gum graft done to restore my front gums and still dipped in other parts of my mouth. I finally quit at work after I found this site and haven't turned back since.

No shit brother. I just moved my dips to the sides of my mouth instead of the front. What a dumb move. I'm sure if I had kept chewing I would have needed a graft there as well or maybe gotten cancer. WHo knows, but lets hope I never find out.

Fun: mountain biking, snow boarding and flyfishing.
TMI: I like long walks on the beach at sunset with that special someone (edit: wife not laughing) and my favorite color is blue. My turn ons are TA avatars and turn offs are rude people on internet forums. (they balance out nicely around here).

Addiction Details: I started chewing tobacco with Red Man when I was 19 yrs old when I was in college playing football. I quickly switched to Skoal Straight for a couple of years and final settled with Skoal Mint Long Cut. I can't tell you how many cans I have bought, the amount of money and I could go on and on.....
Fun: camping (rv style), watching college/nfl football, and cooking out
TMI: I decide to quit after I had LASIK eye surgery which was the first or second best thing I have done for myself. Of course quitting maybe first but it is sure nice to see. I figured if I was going to spend $3500.00 on eye surgery then I might as well stick around long enough to see everything now. I really don't have any urges or desire to dip and most of the time that I think about is when I forget to post roll. I post role for the cause of the group and what it means to me to have support. My good friend is a January HOF but has quit posting role cause he doesn't think about it. I am grateful for him to encourage me to find this site, but I think he missed how the support is so helpful in the long term with ourselves and the newbies!!! May the path of our decisions go noticed and accountable!!!

Addiction: I was riding in a truck with one of my buddies when I was 16 and he offered me a dip I said no. He stopped the truck in the road and said what is one dip gonna hurt. The rest was history. I turned 20 and reality hit when I was 21 I had stopped. I went 11 years with maybe 3 dips when my dad passed away. When I was around 34 I met up with one of my old friends that I went to community college with he offered me a dip I dipped 4 more years sometimes two cans a day. My last dip was on 11/11/11. I almost had one on day five and found this site and got educated on smokeless tobacco. If it had not been for the things I learned here I would still be dipping.

Addiction Details: Started in HS, not quite a habit then. Started playing pro-ball at 18 and it became a full blown addiction. People i looked up to were using so i felt it was appropriate to do the same. What an immature, dumb, and selfish person.
I would chew 2 cans of Grizzly Wintergreen a day, then moved to pouches. My mouth became so raw at times i would switch to pouches because i was scared. At the end of my "obsession" i was chewing up to 3 cans of Skoal Xtra Wintergreen pouches a day. Do the math on that. What an immature, dumb, and selfish person.
November 17th, 2011 i decided to become Selfless, and recognized the blessings i have to live for. A friend of my friend was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer at 36 with 2 kids. Bad luck, yes. Lifestyle habits? Probably. A swift kick in the @ss for a quit and a slew of changes....U bet. Sick of worrying, sick of thinking about what could happen...
NO more rolling the dice, NO more statistics, No more left to wonder. The time is now, cause we never know when that time is up. I QUIT. There's no other option.

Trying to think of something motivational here to say.....buuuut......JUST FUCKIN QUIT!
genius!
I wish I had a picture of my face the morning I quit. I woke up on the couch ( drunk ) that morning. I had a mouth full of spit and I could just feel Copenhagen all over me. The kids and wife were roaming around, so just buried my head in the pillow till the room cleared. I was embarrassed to even show my face. I hauled ass to the bathroom to get clean up. My face and mouth looked like an asshole that got fucking tore up. Eyes bloodshot, snuff in every inch of my mouth, stains down both sides of my face, and all over my white shirt. It gets better.... So my wife walks around the corner as looks at me and says "you are fucking pathetic"! and walks out. It just comes to a point where enough is enough because this shit is crazy.... Stay quit men.
Dude that's inspirational...in kind of a yucky way. Thanks for sharing seriously, you definately made my quit stronger!
Thanks. When I think about dippin I remember that morning and it makes me sick.
That just doubled the strength of my quit
That is funny as fuck. We were some sick bastards.
How about diving to work with a wad chucked in? You have your white company polo shirt on with the company logo on the left chest. You spit into yesterdayÂ’s coffee cup and as you pull the cup away a fucking stringer heading right for that crisp white company logo'd shirt.
Fuck! You lean forward in an attempt to save the shirt, swerve to the right and hit those annoying grooves meant to wake sleeping drivers. You overcorrect and almost hit the guy in the left lane all the while knowing it's a futile effort. That shirt is toast.
Find target, strip down to your tee shirt, go in and buy a new shirt for work. And the thing that really pissed you off is that it totally fucked up that chew.
LMAO stringer! Good old stringers and hangers.....fuckin nasty man. Certain types of beverages would always give my mouth such a viscosity that every spit turned into a stringer or hanger.
Cant remember how many times I have been at the local watering hole spittin in a budweiser bottle and had those happen to me....in front of some hot ass bitches too. Fuck. Its clear to me now how Dippshit came up with his handle.
I used to take a knife and cut little notches in the rim of my pop bottles to catch those sneaky stringers. Didn't care that it cut the hell out of my lips either.

Yeah, I made the switch to pouches about 3 years ago, thinking it would help wean me off of nicotine. LOL.
Instead I could just keep a pouch or two in all day b/c I never needed to spit.

Quitters:
There has been some discussion with the Mod and Admin team about the threads that were started by 'groups' and being posted in the Introductions Section.
I'm not going to bore everyone with the details, but know that the discussion was extensive.
Bottom line is, we are going to merge these topics with your Pre (or current) HOF Group thread.
The Introductions section is intended for new quitters to come in and do just that: Introduce themselves. While we do have some quitters return to their Into page and use them as a sort of Blog page, we still feel that is well within the intent of the section.
So, these threads are getting locked, and moved.
No need to get all butt-hurt about this, but if you are, you can PM me and I can privately tell you to dooche the sand out.
Thanks,
NOLAQ
