Hey all, I am new to this site and the boards, figured I would use all the tools I can since going it alone last time didn't work so well for me.
A little about myself, I am a Police Officer in NH,24, single, I started dipping when I started this job, at first just every now and then, and before long it turned into 2-4+ times a day. I had attempted to quit before, and was good for about 2 months, and caved in one night. After about a month of dipping again I am ready to quit for good.

Congratulations on your decision to quit and for making it for two weeks on your own. And congratulations too, that you recognized the difference that a plan will make in your quit: welcome to the site. I see that you've already checked in with roll-call. That's the key to the plan. You've got it all going on, brother.
Many of us have quit and started again over and over. That stops here.

Hi all,
Its been awhile since ive been on the forums or posted roll from my previous quit group. To be honest I dont remember which one it was or what old screen name used to be. I made the mistake of thinking that I had been quit for a year that I was solid and was home free. But I picked up a new job as a state trooper from the small local police dept i worked at before and my training officer dipped as well as half the guys I work with. As soon as I heard the lid snap off and caught a wiff it was game over.
Since starting the new job ive seen some pretty f*ed up things that just reinforced thinking it was ok to chew. I was a closet chewer as my girlfriend has no idea I started back up. The hiding my tins my cruiser and worrying if I still had dip stuck in my teeth was starting to get old. On top of just feeling like shit all the time. Since I work midnights I couldnt chew until I started work so when spending time with the gf I would be withdrawing hard before work.
So this time I am ready to stay quit for good.

You are going to have to answers some questions. I'm sure someone will be by soon to lay them out for you. Answer them honestly and not defensively. Take time to think your answers through- your answers will help you quit and it'll help others quit.
If you are serious about being quit you have to own it.

Your quit Decision (http://www.killthecan.org/facts-figures/the-decision-to-quit-dip/) MUST be 100% about you. Anything short of that sets you up for failure by allowing your addict brain to blame a given situation as reason for you to go back to the can. Quitting out of fear, based on a medical issue, will fade as soon as the doctor or dentist gives you a clean bill of health.
We don't use words like try or hope as they are just another excuse for our addictive brains to tell us another lie. There are no short cuts, but here are some links that will help you navigate this site.
This a NO NICOTINE site. End of discussion. Are you quit or just stopping? (http://www.killthecan.org/facts-figures/the-difference-between-stopper-quitter/)
