Title: Finally said no to tobacco
Post by: TobacNo on April 20, 2014, 10:01:00 PM
Hey all. Finally quit.

I'm 41 now. First chewed at 11, Redman from my older brother. Made me sick, but I stuck with it. By 13 I was chewing Skoal everyday. By 18 I was chewing pretty much all day, every day. Sometime in my early 30's I switched to Red Seal after Skoal upped their price for the umpteenth time. By then I was often going through more than a can a day.

Had my last pinch of tobacco Jan 24, 2014. Started nicotine gum then. Tortured myself with that, 4mg to 2mg, until March 23, 2014 when I really quit nicotine.

Tried chewing gum, but apparently I'm allergic to sorbitrol (sp?), which is basically gum. I was seriously struggling to function without something in my mouth. On April 14 I was at my wit's end. I decided to Google for a solution before heading for the store. Found this place  the alternative chew reviews. Still went to the store, but bought Smokey Mountain instead.

Thanks to those that posted that info. I'm now holding strong!

Welcome Tobacno and congrats on surviving this long without support, that is tough. Glad to hear you dumped the nicotine replacement program. The only way is to get clean from Nicotine is stopping all forms of the bitch. The Nic Gum is just another method to keep you hooked. Our method here at KTC is simple: Quit today, for this day only, sometimes this minute and promise this to yourself and us by posting roll here on the site. Keep your word like you have a set and you will stay quit. I am 41 as well and dipped since about the same age as you and have been quit now for 152 days. That would not have been possible (wasn't before anyway) without this site providing the information and support I needed. Just remember we are addicts and as such we never use nicotine in any form. Post roll in the July group and I quit with you today.

Thanks.

Have read through the Welcome section, I know I'm July, but still confused on Roll Call. I'm getting a lot of errors,  couldn't even find the July group.

Also, the forum is not very phone friendly. Is there a mobile site?

Congrats on your new found freedom on kicking that crap. Posting roll ain't bad once you figure it out. This underline  (http://w11.zetaboards.com/QS_Xtreme/index/)will help you post. Only thing you need to do is go to last post and hit quote and do the job. No worries, if you screw it up we will fix it. Our concern is you and your quit. We can fix typos. Again glad you dropped it, I quit with you.

The underline is screwed up. Was supposed to go to how to post roll in welcome center.

Welcome TobacNo,

Congrats on the quit so far, don't worry about how well you post roll for the first few times the important thing is that you're quit. If you need anything send me a PM.

I did the NRT for 30 days before I grew balls. Then I jumped in to embrace the suck 18 days ago. Love the suck, because you'll never do it again if you stay quit with me one day at a time.
