Hi there, my name is Steve and I am actually now on day 2 of getting the Copenhagen out of my life! I have been a dipper for 27 years and I just know it is time to stop! Not only is it so very expensive, but I was really starting to get concerned about throat and mouth cancer.
I will be honest from the start. I am using the lozenges. The reason being is I have had some other health issues with my heart and if I just go cold turkey my heart goes into what they call atrial fib. I think it might be the stress. Either way, I am not making this as just a substitute to quit. I am following the directions and plan on stepping down like you are supposed to.
Now with that aside, I am here for the long haul and plan on being nicotine free in 100 days!

Ok nice thread...I will not get into it with people on here about NRT's. If you don't like the fact that I am using the lozenge, then I will leave and too bad for you. This is how I am quitting COPENHAGEN. If that is a problem oh well. I am free and over 21 and will not be bullied or badgered by anyone.

Kiss my ass dude...I am quitting COPENHAGEN...and all the messed up chemicals in it! Nicotine is bad, but I would rather step down and really be able to quit then not. From the looks of you it seems like your testicles are in your ass.

What's your problem dude? You know you have less than 10% chance of quitting when using this method? If you don't want the advice of the successful quitters here, then why are you here?

Greg 40, here is a question, I understand the rant, so how do you feel about Chantix? It does not contain nic, any thoughts?

No problem with Chantix. It doesn't have nic. The concensus regarding NRT's seems to be...if they are used to the letter of the directions...then they are fine. Personally, I don't agree. IMO, all you are doing is delaying the inevitable. Look, we started this god-forsaken habit, not we must pay the price to be free of it. In 3 days the physical withdrawals are over...might as well sack up and get it over with.

Just asking, I am taking Chantix and the symptoms may not have been as bad but for me they were still there and they still sucked. I wanted to beat the tar out of everyone I met. I am on day 12 and still have urges everyday. And they fog, it sucks.

The issue isnt that I have a problem with advice. I have a problem with bullshit. The bullshit being that I cant use NRT's. and really quit. I really don't care what people think about it. If you don't like it then hey so what. It is working so far for me.
I am still having major cravings even with the lozenge. so dont tell me that I am just transferring from one thing to another! Get real! Copenhagen has so many more dangerous chemicals in it than a NRT...yes and I have heard that they are finding NRT's can possibly cause cancer too.
Look forget it...I'll do it without this bullshit! This just stresses me out more and makes me want to cave! I don't need that!

Scrofford - You do realize that when people choose to run away from this site, they usually do so because their addiction is telling them that it's a lot easier to cave when no one else cares. Of course, they don't know that at the time because their head is too far up their ass.
The thread that Ready posted for you was so full of trash talking because the person who started the thread was full of negativity. Sure, many people don't agree with NRT, but attitude is an even bigger trigger for "bullshit" on this site.
And all this bullshit that makes you want to cave, perhaps it's meant to serve as a reality check. Perhaps you now realize that you should go talk to your doctor and find a way to cut nicotine out of your system completely in a way that is safe for your heart. Perhaps the stress that you're feeling is the stress and disappointment of knowing that you are simply making excuses for your fear of failure. Quitting cold turkey is hard work and seems impossible when you have nicotine coursing through your veins. Call your doctor. Tell him you want nothing more to do with nicotine. There are ways. And it is more than possible. You'll be surprised at your own strength.
You can do this!

I am no where near in danger of caving. I just get pissed off with people who think that it has to be done a certain way. Incidently, I can quit whether I am on this site or not...this site doesn't make it or break it for me.
I WANT to quit and HAVE quit for reasons that make me never want to go back to that crap. Yes its hard...even with NRT's...I feel for me though I have a better chance of not going back if I use the NRT. The nicotine is the least of my worry...It is all of the other chemicals in COPENHAGEN that scare me to death and if I need to use NRT's while I break the habit of CHEWING that crap, then that is what I am going to do.
We all have a story...we all have used different ways to quit. I will never criticize someone else's way of quitting...as long as they are not using that insidious chew.
So for you people who don't like the fact that some of us use NRT's....Step off and deal with it! I could care less what you think! If you want to be helpful and supportive, then do so...if not, I don't need ya!
Also, it wasn't the thread that pissed me off...It was Greg40 who seems to like to be a smartass and thinks he knows somebody and thinks that he can talk shit and I will somehow respect that. Whatever dude...You are a moron for thinking that and your comment that you left me shows that.

you're not in danger of caving because you are not quit, you have quit chewing (for now) but you are still using the one chemical that you are addicted to. i am not busting your balls but i have failed on nrt and fooled myself that somehow nrt was better, it wasn't until i took the pain and fear (aka the suck) and did it that quitting seemed real, you can do it and after the suck all you have to worry about is the mind games, if i can handle the suck anyone can
welcome to the suck...you can do this

I call Bullshit on your last paragraph (we'll leave the rest out of it for now). Go back and reread the beginning of this thread. YOU were the one who got defensive for zero reason after two people had tried to offer sincere support. YOU were the one who threatened to leave when the only thing posted was sincere support. YOU are the one who defined sincere support as bullying and badgering. YOU are full of shit. YOU are full of nicotine. YOU are full of excuses. Greg hadn't even shown his sexy avatar or mysteriously alluring words at that point.

Ready Posts up a welcome
Welcome. Great decision. You will get many different oprinions on NRT's (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) My 2 cents is cold turkey is the best way to go. Here is a link you may find interesting and iformative...
A GOOD THREAD ABOUT NRT's
index.php?showtopic=2072 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=2072)
This is clearly not offensive as far as I can tell. I followed with this
I'm no doctor, but as nicotine is a stimulant, wouldn't it be better to just go cold? I'm not sure how lowering your heart rate and B.P would be a bad thing. Have you talked to your doctor about this? Perhaps he can give you some meds to help keep the stress of quitting at bay.
I don't presume anything about you or how you should quit, I only ask you some questions. Then you respond with this outburst.
As Smokey points out, you are the one feeling hostile and lashing out. Read up on dip rage little buddy cuz this is a clear case. I chewed for longer than you have been alive. The fact that this place was the only thing that worked for me and hundreds of others like me shows that it works. You want advice from guys that are successful quitters? Then shut the fuck up and listen. NRT's don't help you quit. Go do some research and you will find that the most statistically successful method of quitting does NOT involve NRTs. No one is telling you that you can't use them, we are telling you that in our experience you have a better chance without them. It's your choice.
You want to quit nicotine? your in the right place. If you want your balls cupped and for us to tell you your a super neat guy, and gee buttercup I think your plan is great then maybe you oughta go over to some other quit site. There ARE sites out there that are tolerant of failed quits and half assed attempts and general douchery.
This is not one of them. This site is for quitters.
Skoal Monster - 280days quit , 23 years of chewing 2 cans per day. God Bless KTC

I have to ask - why exactly are you here?
Not trying to be a dick - just curious. Something brought you here today - I am interested in what it was.
At this point it doesn't matter what brought me here. I am not real interested in continuing this thread....obviously people here don't think I have really quit. Let me tell everyone a little story
About 3 years ago, I quit. I used the patch for a while and then got off of that and was completely free of Copenhagen. The patch really had helped and I was so glad when I was even off of that...For those of you who think this took a long time, try 2 weeks. That was all....Yes using the patch. After About 2 weeks after being nic free altogether, I ended up having some stomach problems that weren't related to the chew. Anyway, I had a lot of pain and the doctors at the ER hit me with a heavy pain med. Do you know what caused me to go back to that chew? It wasn't the nic patch! It was the pain meds! I absolutely craved chew when I came out of the hospital and I was higher than a kite!
Don't tell me the patch or anything like that doesn't work! It works well if you are serious about quitting! That is why I believe in NRT's.

Scro,
Again nobody said you can't use the damn patch. Use a fucking nicotine suppository if you have to. Just use it as directed. The overwhelming advice is that you will be more successful without it. Thats all, nobody said anything about you not being quit. Like Rkymtn said , If you don't want help why are you here?
-
I am no where near in danger of caving.
'finger point'
Call whatever you want bullshit. Go ahead and think whatever you want.
I think you want to quit dipping. Congrats on no Copenhagen for 2 days.
But you are scared to throw away your crutch. The crutch is not "all the other chemicals".
Until you completely purge the NICOTINE from your system, your body will continue to crave and withdraw. You are feeding a viscious cycle with the NRT.
Your mindset and attitude will never get right to quit with nicotine still coursing through your veins.
Face the suck head on, and beat it.
Make your choice, freedom or not?

Believe all you want. If it worked - you would not be here right now having to go through your quit again. No one ever said they DIDN'T work. Unfortunately, you are proving the contrary at the moment.
Make no mistake about it - You went back to chew because like me, you are an addict. Plain and simple.
When you calm down and decide to listen and consider that another viewpoint just might have some merit, great things will happen for you. If you don't ever get to this point, you will be in for a long hard road in whatever you do. Think about it.
-
Do you know what caused me to go back to that chew?
Ooohh! Pick me! Pick me!!
It wasn't the patch and it wasn't the pain meds either.
It was the fact that you had no support , the mindset that you were trying to quit, and you had the pain meds to serve as an excuse for your weakness. That little voice in your head was cupping your balls and whispering, "I'm proud of you scroffy baby. You made it two whole weeks without me. These pain meds are really fucking with your head, eh? You must feel really weak right now? Not thinking straight? I know, let's get a chew. Maybe it'll even make the pain meds stronger. Oh no, no, no. Of course you didn't fail. It was the stomach issues. It was the pain meds. You did great my little dove."
Now, what's that voice telling you? "Scroffy, baby...baby listen. These guys are mean. They don't get it. You're my special little quitter. Just give me 100 more days baby. If you don't like me then, I'll leave forever. I promise. But hey, don't listen to these guys. They don't know you like I know you. You can't do this now. Life is tough. If you quit cold turkey, there's no way you'll last. You've tried that before. Remember those two weeks. You're making the right choice snooky. I love you."
'Finger' nic bitch!

Ya know what, quit however you want to quit, but like many have said, the people here are giving you advice.
BTW, you can't blame your cave on pain meds. You can blame it on not having the right tools to defend against the urge to use nicotine. But whatever, I'm sure you'll get all defensive at what I just said.
I really hope you quit.

Welcome. Great decision. You will get many different oprinions on NRT's (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) My 2 cents is cold turkey is the best way to go. Here is a link you may find interesting and iformative...

You can do this.
Interesting how eerily similar this thread is to what you posted. Leads me to believe one of three things:
1) people who use NRT are generally cockmongers.
2) There is a highly evolved quitter behind scrofford who is helping us all immensely by providing a forum to further cement our dedication.
3) Scrofford is the same attention seeking whore-troll who started the thread posted by Ready.
Or maybe I'm just a fucktard*.

Damn that ballet was boring, but Jenny wore her Fucktard and gave me a piece if I promised to stay for the whole show. It was worth it!!!

Yeah, maybe we could have a romantic dinner atop the space needle. We can sit on the same side of the table so we don't look gay or anything like that. Maybe we even could share an after-dinner lozenge...gently move it back and forth with our yearning tongues.

Hey do you live in Seattle? We should get together!
are you that afraid of withdraw!?! we're near the same fucking age, if i could do this, you could...you will only be stronger in your quit...this is experience talking, not a cave after pain meds talking
Look, here's the deal....The good thing here about all of you is you don't back down. I will at least consider stopping any NRT. I could go on and on about how I can't do that etc and give you every reason in the world why, but its bullshit.
I just don't think its right to point your finger at someone else and treat someone like shit because of the way they are trying to quit a terrible addiction. Thats all! If cold turkey worked for you....great! If NRT's work for someone else...great! If they didn't work, don't those people need to find out for themselves? Can't you support peoples efforts? That is all I am saying here!
-
Folks are just looking out for you, that is all...in their own special ways. You can quit cold turkey, I know you can.
Most everyone on this site quits cold turkey, which is why you are getting swarmed for the NRT...but, shit, cold turkey works, so why not do it?
Cheers

I probably will. But I am still fighting with soccer fag lol! We need to finish this!
-
Here's another bit of input on NRT:
I started my quit with the patch.
After 12 days I was still going through withdrawals.
On day 12 I posted an intro asking for opinions on my NRT schedule.
I was bullied into dropping the NRT immediately. I ripped off the last patch right there.
The withdrawal symptoms continued at about the same intensity for the next four days and then stopped. That's it... four days and I was past the bulk of the physical addiction, where the patches would have likely dragged it out for months.
My advice: talk to your doctor about your potential heart problems, hold on to your sack, and take the cold-turkey plunge. You can do this.
-
Oh so now that I have said I would consider not using an NRT, nobody is going to say anything? Come on! You have all kept me from chewing today anyway! faggreg don't you have anything to say?

that's what we do here, piss you off so you don't feel the withdraw...you've learned more in two days than i did in 40...good for you! nrt only prolongs the goal...no chew or nic...withdraw from nic 3 days or so. sooner or later your choice..get it over with eventually.....

You have been so distracted by the big dick contest that you forgot all about dipping. Good. Holy Shit, this place does work. Maybe you even forgot to put another patch on. You are only prolonging the symptoms of withdrawl, pitch them out and get it over with.
And yes were are all Fucktarded. We, by our own doing chose to start cramming that crap in our faces, But at least we are quit fucktards. So come on, You are just as fucktarted, now be just as QUIT.

A couple of things from ol chewie...
1. I don't think I've seen 53 posts in an intro page on one day. You got people talking scrofford that's for sure. Not sure if I mentioned this before, but there is one universal truth here at KTC: we bust balls because we care.
2. Someone somewhere along the way in this thread mentioned Chantix. Here's an article that I dug up from the KTC Blog about the drug: http://blog.killthecan.org/?p=150 (http://blog.killthecan.org/?p=150)
3. Congrats on a day free from dip. Regardless of how you got there, that's fucking HUGE my man. NEVER underestimate 1 more day off dip.

Welcome. Great decision. You will get many different oprinions on NRT's (Nicotine Replacement Therapy) My 2 cents is cold turkey is the best way to go. Here is a link you may find interesting and iformative...
A GOOD THREAD ABOUT NRT's
index.php?showtopic=2072 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=2072)
You can do this.
Interesting how eerily similar this thread is to what you posted. Leads me to believe one of three things:
1) people who use NRT are generally cockmongers.
2) There is a highly evolved quitter behind scrofford who is helping us all immensely by providing a forum to further cement our dedication.
3) Scrofford is the same attention seeking whore-troll who started the thread posted by Ready.

Hey do you live in Seattle? We should get together!
Yeah, maybe we could have a romantic dinner atop the space needle. We can sit on the same side of the table so we don't look gay or anything like that. Maybe we even could share an after-dinner lozenge...gently move it back and forth with our yearning tongues.
Fuck you are a queer aren't you?! Maybe you could entertain me and take fag gregs dick in your mouth you sorry little worm fuck! I'll bet you are one of those scrawny looking fag soccer lovers that if you said "boo" to them would run away to mommy and cry! You talk like a little girl who's pussy hurts. Shut the fuck up you fucking loser!
OMG!!!! You're fucking hilarious!!!!
C'mon tough guy, prove it to yourself that you can just throw away the nicotine, the chew, any crutch substitute and just fight this habit head on bitch. Regain your God Damned life back brother!!!!! Get into this website - it will help save your life. Who cares about the fucks that piss you off. I quit at least once a week for at least 7 years and used every excuse in the book to appease my nic bitch master. One day I must have been struck by lightning and decided to quit cold turkey. My new found bad ass will power along with the KTC community of saints helped me turn my life around, helped me save my life. 251 days today. I'm a believer that the ONLY way is cold turkey. If I can do it, you can do it!!!!!

The bottom line is you have to stay quit. Quitters here will support you, challenge you and share their experiences with you. The sooner you cleanse your body of the nicotine poison the better. Get busy quittin or get busy dying. I am at 101 days quit today and I owe my success to this site and my quit group brothers and sisters. Use this site, read, read, read.
-
Do you know what caused me to go back to that chew?
Ooohh! Pick me! Pick me!!
It wasn't the patch and it wasn't the pain meds either.
It was the fact that you had no support and you had the pain meds to serve as an excuse for your weakness.
I didn't think you were such an asshole but you are. Fuck you and your mom you fuckng sounders fag! I will quit however I want and that story was before I knew about any support....THIS ISN'T FUCKING SUPPORT THOUGH! You are just being a dick! It's that simple. I don't need this to quit. So see ya! You all are fucking fucktards!
OK. You play that game. Call all of us fucktards. Next time you get put on pain meds, make sure you've got them nicotine cocklozenges laying around.
Oh I will asshole I will!
Oh man, this is awesome.
'Popcorn'
that's it? No fuck you, you fuckin fuck!
wtf, enterain me bithces. entertain me. Oh, youre here to quit cheiwng.
1 - The patch, gum, chantix is for pussies. You are a badass, then quit like a badass. Cold turkey...
Speaking of which, thanksgiving is right around the corner... I will be most thankful this year because I decided to quit chewing. My wife will be thankful if I get my lazy ass to the gym.
All of it is for pussies, huh? Well if that is the case where are you blasting the guy who had to get fucking Xanax and Zoloft to keep from killing someone because the urge was so strong to dip? How come you don't slam that guy? Or is it maybe you're just a flat out fucking hyprocite?
I said it before and I will say it again, I am taking Chantix and I still had all of the same symptoms. If you don't like it, well then come over here and kiss my sweaty, dizzy ass because that's what the last 12 days have felt like. And when I get to 100? I am going to come over with the speech printed out and rip it in two, just so I can shove it in both sides of your hypocritical mouth.

Well now today is another day and I won't be dippin. Cutting way way back on the NRT's also thanks to what you all have been saying to me. Maybe by tonight I won't be doing them at all!

Maybe tonight??...you just said you agree with Rky's thinking.
Here's the deal with NRT's. They supply nicotine and other shit in your system.
So. if you stop chewing (a nicotine supplier) BUT keep using NRT aka the patch (Also a nicotine supplier) what are you doing? Just trading one form of supplier to another. And honestly, I heard it all, the patch "supplies" less dosage than chew, so I'm good right? Wrong. It only takes one chew, one time to get cancer. Now, those people are few and far between, but it happens.
So, don't take that chance. Stop ALL supplies of nicotine and shit right now.
Because if you do it now, or stop the patch next week, you're body will STILL go into nicotine withdrawl shock. Right?
Like Rky said, short term pain now...and yes, it's really gonna suck..BUT boy I tell you what, the long term gain is unbeleivably cool.
Don't ask me, ask your grandkids when they graduate from college because today you decided to stop ALL nicotine suppliers.

Can I just add my two cents here? Firstly, I read this thread from the beginning. The original 2-3 replies were not antagonistic at all. YOU chose to start defending yourself and being a dick.
Second, I came to this site, I think it was 12 days "into my quit". I found out within the hour the overall consensus here on NRT (I was using the gum).
but here's the difference between me and you, and other guys like you who immediately start the "fuck you" shit when you join here. I didn't protest. I didn't argue. Know what I did? I THREW THE FUCKING GUM OUT. THAT VERY SECOND.
Know what else? I suffered the three worse days of my life as my body got rid of the nicotine, cause like you, I wouldn't admit that the gum was still flushing nicotine in my body.
So here's what I think. You got 10 or so guys, spending their time, trying to give you their advice on what has made their quits successful. Instead of fighting them, maybe you should try listening. Or really, like Ryky said, what the fuck are you doing here?

Thanks for reading the whole thread! Today I am fighting no one...I just asked a simple question. Second I am in a far worse mood today because I have degenerative hip disease and I am in howling pain today...I need a replacement. Anyway, I will fight with no one today. You all know what you are talking about and I thank you for your advice.

I apologize for being such an asshole yesterday! I just need to make up my mind to stop the NRT's (which I will). Being in pain and making all of these changes is somewhat overwhelming as I am sure some or all of you know. But again, thanks for taking the time!

"I just need to make up my mind to stop the NRT's (which I will)"
I am relentless with regards to quitting chewing and helping others.
So when? When will you stop the NRT's?
When the pain goes away?
When you have just one more?
When you feel as if we're all being nice and agree with you?
When it's Wednesday and not Tuesday?
When the trash man comes so when you throw them out, you won't be tempted to go digging.
So i'm not trying to be a jerk or razz you...just, when?

Dude, we are here to help, and many of us are assholes too. Rage against us...me, in particular. I can handle it. It's better to rage at us, than your friends and family. Congrats on day 2!

I appreciate your epiphany :) I have a couple questions however as I am not familiar with this NRT you are using.
Is is prescribed by a doctor or is it an Over the Counter thing?
Assuming there are instructions for use on the package - are you using them EXACTLY as prescribed or as directed on the package?
Not bashing - attempting to understand.......

I am using the Commit Lozenge. The instructions are take 1 every 1 - 2 hours which I have been doing and have cut back on that today. Ok, gotta go and take my wife to an appointment. I be back later. Thanks guys!

Thanks for the info. I was asking because we have a pretty strict policy about posting roll if you are not NIC free OR are not using NRT in strict accordance with the instructions/prescription. It sounds to me that you fall in this category and are using them as directed. Keep it up and get off those things as soon as you can. You'll be better for it.

What other stuff do NRT's put in your system? I thought it was only a lower dosage of nicotine. Show me please.
I did some digging and put this blog post together... it's a (mostly) unbiased look at what's in Nicorette. Your mileage may vary based on product.

I still haven't and won't cave! It's been ok today but I am struggling with the things I used to do with a dip. In other words, I am an internet marketer and I have been used to doing my work here at the computer with a dip in. It's weird not to have one in! I am eating a lot of tootsie pops lol!
Sometimes I start to panic....then I tell myself its ok and go to this forum and read about the people who have died and all the other horror stories. I am not going to be one of them! My wife and daughter are so much more important to me than that!
This morning I read Jenny and Tom Kern's story to my wife....we both cried. I am really glad that I found this website and all of you!

Drinking water and juice will help, but only once you are off the NRTs. Flushing the system doesn't help if you keep reintroducing the drug.

Steve
are you just getting up or haven't gone to bed yet????????? Drink more water it'll help flush that shit out and help you sleep better slowly
LOL I hadn't even go to bed yet....I just woke up now and slept great! Anywyas thanks for the advice! Day 4 baby! :D

Scroff, I also spend my whole day in front of the computer, which allowed me to partake in my favorite vise from the time I woke up till the time i went to bed. You can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go get some pure cranberry juice, toss the patch to the curb, and get on with your life.
I thought about the patch, went to the store and almost put them in the cart when I had a thought. I would be going through withdrawl everyday till I quit using them, and put them back on the shelf.
You are doing good and I respect this, but in my ( opinion ) you are prolonging the agony. My father used to smoke and i watched him try time and time again to use the patch untill it looked like he had the chicken pocks with patches, everytime. Only when he quit cold did it work.
But , as long as you quit I will support you. Just my 2 pennies worth.
-
Scroffy - obviously all of the "bullshit" has faded away, so tell us - what's the current plan with the lozenges? Still thinking abstractly or do you have a nicotine quit date picked out? Have you spoken to your doctor about the potential heart problems you mentioned in your first post? Inquiring minds want to know. Inquiring minds want to hold you.......accountable.
-

Why does my mind automatically see "2 penises"? You're a bad influence on me Scrofford.

I go and see my doc on Nov 9th. I will be talking more with her about NOT using the NRT. If she thinks its ok for the ol ticker to completely stop nicotine altogether without worrying about irregular heart beats, then cool, I will...
I have not used much of the NRT today. Maybe its because I have been extremely busy with working on my website. Anyway, I really don't see me using any NRT past the beginning of next week. How does that slap ya sexy? :P

Congrats on your quit so far.
My dad stopped smoking 9 days ago. He's using the patch. I will give him some other things to consider to keep the quit at the forefront once his support class ends.

It's not that nic can help my irregular heartbeat, its when I go off nic altogether it starts to go into an irregular heartbeat. Not good. Maybe its stress I don't know. I am just about off the NRT altogether anyway. You can call it what you want to. I know my own body and every body is different.
You know we have already established that I am following the NRC directions and that I am also using it less and less. I really hope we don't have another go around like the other day. I am having a fantastic day and I plan to keep it that way. I haven't hit the copenhagen in 5 whole days! That is awesome for me!

I'm going to be eagerly looking forward to one of two things:
a) how your doctor visit goes on Monday
B) hearing from you how being 100% nicotine free feels
-
And how come you are so interested in how my doctor's visit goes smokeyg? I am just curious. The main reason for my doc appointment has nothing to do with chew or nic or nrt's. I just am going to talk to her about it in detail and find out what she thinks I should do. Although I am hoping to be off the NRT by Monday.
-
my "cards" are that i continued to damage my heart even though i knew full well that nicotine causes heart damage, i had open-heart surgey to remove a large piece of my heart muscle that was interferring with blood flow to the rest of my body at 23, died 7 times and was brought back, have had 3 aicd's implanted, have a host of rhythm problems that almost required me to go on disability because i couldn't stay in rhythm long enough to work, i can't walk a flight of stairs quickly because i can't let my heart rate go above 90 bps; yet with all that i still used a product {nicotine, in gum(3 week failed quit) or tobacco form(26 years minus 3 weeks)}, knowing all of that i still freaking used. so when i see you are concerned about heart damage by coming off nicotine you just seem to be making excuses to continue putting nicotine into your body. thanks scroff this is what has finally made me open this up to everyone, now i feel even more free, but i am still calling bullshit 'loot04'

Let's get something perfectly straight....I never said I was concerned about "heart damage". Not once did I say that. I said irregular heartbeats which in turn have caused me some other problems in the past.
The fact is you can call bullshit to anything you want. I really could care less. As long as I am off of the chew and following the directions for the NRT, (which incidently I am using less than the recommended) I am fine with it. I don't give a shit if you are fine with it. It is my quit. Be supportive or don't. It's up to you.

I am a quitter and I am on this site just like you. You asked what everyone was doing this weekend so I told you. Smoky / CD I'm with you guys. The longer he uses the NRT's the longer it is before he really quits. I too would like to know how being 100% nic free feels in his opinion. I know how it feels. 100% free for 109 days. I feels GRRRRRRRRREAT!!

ol ticker....worrying about irregular heart beats...hate to break it to you but the shit you are worried about is called heart damage, fucker, don't ever fucking discount what in the hell i have lived through..i am trying to support you but you have got so much shit up your ass that you can't even see straight...let me know how good those chest tubes being pulled out after heart surgery feel...
-
SMOKEY, I wish you dad the best in his quit. I watched my father try to quit many times before he was able to make it stick. (Its funny how the angle of death will solidify a quit in a hurry). I hope the best for your father.
-
Hey Scrofford. First off, I'd like to welcome you and say congrats on tossing your dip. Great move. I'm a little slow, both mentally and to the party. I've tried to read most of your intro but I admit I haven't read everything so forgive me if I'm off base here. I know absolutely nuts about NRT but if these guys tell you it's true, by fucking god it's true. I hate to admit it but even Smokey knows what he's talking about most of the time. Did I miss the medical condition that ails you? Or are you like 99% of us out here, old, out of shape, mid-aged addicts. Have you been diagnosed with some sort of backwards ass, Bizzaro World circulatory system. One that does the complete opposite of a normal system when exposure to stimulants is denied. I'm not trying to be ignorant, I just can't see anyone's heart going all irregular and junk when going cold turkey. Yeah, anxiety and stress, but an irregular heart beat? Hmmm.
CD has gone through some tough shit and all his incredible insight to a very similar problem to yours is all there for the taking. And he might just turn out to be the brother who can help you the most out here. We're all rooting for you to beat this shit. That's what we do. Let us know what the doctor says, will ya?
I understand rage and bitching as much as anyone so if you don't receive my post as positive, cool. I can take it. Hang tough.
-
Hey Scruffy, this site is built on support. Some people, however, don't know support if it bit them on the ass. Support is not telling you what you want to hear and tickling your balls while we do it. Support is believing passionately in what we do and the people we do it for. If anyone on this site didn't believe in what they were doing and how this thing works, they wouldn't waste their time with it.
Trust me and everyone who you seem to think is against you...this shit works and is the only way to go. I quit 12 times with the patch, 6 times with the gum and 5 times with the lozenge. Can you see a pattern? Yeah, I did without dip, but I didn't do without nicotine.
At first I thought this was all bullshit, but it is real. You will not find a more effective means of quitting, as long as you are willing to man up. Believe me, I would want nothing more for you right now than to throw that useless crap away. I believe in this as does everyone who is trying to get through to you.

Listen to CD. The guy is WELL versed in the world of heart issues. And he is HOF quit! And then some! He could be your greatest ally on this site....I would utilize him! It's all about being quit. Get there!

Well, I guess the reason that I am so interested in your doctor appointment is that I would like to hold you accountable to your word.
You have stated that you are going to speak to your doctor about NOT using NRTs on Nov. 9th. I am very interested to hear if your doctor still believes that completely dropping nicotine is a bad idea for your heart. If she does, I am even more interested as to "why" she feels that. It is a subject I have much interest in.
If she provides a scientifically sound explanation why you should stick with the lozenges, then more power to you.
If she thinks it's just a "good idea" even though you have been steadily weaning yourself down... well, the way I see it, you will be 100% free of nicotine from that moment forward since your only perceived hesitancy to quit the lozenge is related to your heart issues.
You are quit from Poopenhagen and that is awesome. I am living vicariously through your quit potential. However, I don't enjoy living vicariously through "I hopes" and "I thinks". I need assurance and a strong plan. November 9th seems to be the day that will happen - one way or another.
-
You are not strong enough to quit with this group............Nicotine is a motherfucker to quit..................you better come HEAVY....get pissed and make the choice.............we all have!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
my "cards" are that i continued to damage my heart even though i knew full well that nicotine causes heart damage, i had open-heart surgey to remove a large piece of my heart muscle that was interferring with blood flow to the rest of my body at 23, died 7 times and was brought back, have had 3 aicd's implanted, have a host of rhythm problems that almost required me to go on disability because i couldn't stay in rhythm long enough to work, i can't walk a flight of stairs quickly because i can't let my heart rate go above 90 bps; yet with all that i still used a product {nicotine, in gum(3 week failed quit) or tobacco form(26 years minus 3 weeks)}, knowing all of that i still freaking used. so when i see you are concerned about heart damage by coming off nicotine you just seem to be making excuses to continue putting nicotine into your body. thanks scroff this is what has finally made me open this up to everyone, now i feel even more free, but i am still calling bullshit 'loot04'
Those are the cards I was talking about, Scrofford. I've read every post in this thread, each day, and have tried to keep positive, as I'm not one to join in the bashing.
We're all here because we're nicotine addicts. We're not dip addicts, or chew addicts, or smoking addicts....we're addicted to nicotine.
And we're here to quit feeding our addiction, and to remain quit, forever.
CD has quit using nicotine completely, and has a lengthy history of heart problems. He knows better than most everyone else the experience of a nicotine addict with heart problems. From what you've described about yourself, his experience both in using nicotine (with a heart condition) and in quitting nicotine (with a heart condition) far exceeds your own level of experience.
This man is telling you how to do it. He knows how. He's done it. It's up to you, but you might consider what he has to say.
-
You are not strong enough to quit with this group............Nicotine is a motherfucker to quit..................you better come HEAVY....get pissed and make the choice.............we all have!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an ignorant statement! Typical of the dumb shit mentality of some people who walk into a room in the middle of a conversation and have no idea what they are talking about. I don't care how long you have been here...looks like for a while, I am not chewing and if you don't like the fact of me using NRT's tough shit pal. Fuck I'm tired of people making stupid ass statements like the one above! You aren't me asshole and so piss off ok?
-
oh when they pull out the chest tubes they make a really neat whistling sound...and {this is really cool} your chest hurts so bad right after surgery that you can't take a full breath on your own so you are on a ventillator and when you are awake it makes you feel like you aren't breathing so you panic...also, pneumonia after it is common...and one more nugget, you can't wipe your own ass because you can't bend over....
fun stuff..i'll share more until you either shit or get off the pot
-
Ya know I think I made a mistake coming here. Not because I have any desire to go back to the shit can, but because of the BULLSHIT harassment I am receiving about NRT's. My wife thinks you all are a bunch of control freak fuckheads and I am beginning to think so myself.
I think I am not going to come here anymore. I have people in my life right now that are holding me accountable. People who I know and can see and can really talk to. I am done with this. After 100 days I will come back and tell you how I did. Until then I don't need this bullshit. 'Finger'
-
good luck...you won't make a hundred days without nic...can't do one yet
-
When quitting chewing, you actually need to quit 2 things.
1 - The oral fixation of putting somethign in yoru mouth and "Chewing" on something.
2 - Nicotine.
You have quit #1. Congratulations. you're half way there. You stopped putting something in your mouth. aka "chewing"
You need to quit the rest fo the way and STOP putting nicotine into your body.
Thats all these guys are saying. Stop putting nicotine into yoru body. You CAN do it. DO IT today. right now.
and tell you wife hello from me.
-
You guys do realize that he is talking to his doctor on Monday about cutting nicotine out of his life altogether? Put yourself in his shoes. Who would you listen to between now and Monday - your doctor or a bunch of shitfucks like us?
Have a little patience before you start condemning the fact that he has quit chewing tobacco.
Day One of his Intro Page was a hoot, but now it's just starting to sound like a bunch of holier than thou cynics.
Call me a hypocrite if you want, but how does telling a person (who has publicly stated that he is planning on quitting nicotine all together after a further discussion with his doctor) that "you are not strong enough to quit with this group" and "you won't make it a hundred days without nic" supposed to help him in his quest?
This discussion is an eye opener for me  king of the holier than thou assholes. We are all actual people trying to make real improvements in our lives and we deserve to be treated as such
100% sincerity
Whatd'ya think - is Smokeyg officially QSlite material? 'help'

I think I am not going to come here anymore. I have people in my life right now that are holding me accountable. People who I know and can see and can really talk to.
Are they really going to hold you accountable? Or are they going to tell you its all right you will do better next time after you cave? Oh shit you havent even quit yet and you probably never will because you dont have the balls to listen to the people that know what the fuck they are talking about.
You are lying to me and everyone else when you post roll and its starting to piss me off. There is a reason its called QSXtreme and you have found out why.
Why dont you come back after you get rid of the NRT's and post day 1 roll, you will be welcomed like a real quitter and the "harassment" might stop.

Hey Fomo - how 'bout garnering a 2nd green dot before you tell a sincere quitter that they are a liar and probably will never quit or will most likely cave? Especially when they haven't had a chew in 6 days.
Extreme has officially taken a nosedive towards blind idiocy.

I will post one more thing....I have a very sincere question and if it can be answered sincerely, I think it will help not only me but other people. My question is this:
If someone is using an NRT to step down from either chewing or smoking, why is that such a problem IF they are using the NRT according to the directions? Yes I know nicotine is the bitch that needs to be overcome, BUT, if someone uses an NRT and has sincerely quit the other habit, how is that so bad?
There are so many more chemicals in the chew or cigarettes that can kill you. I understand that a lot of people think that it will cause a relapse to use the NRT, but if someone REALLY IS SINCERE about quitting and never wants to touch chew again, isn't it better to use the NRT if he or she feels they need it? (ALL THE TOUGH GUY SHIT ASIDE.)
I have gone without any nic before when I tried to quit in the past. I failed. I also failed once AFTER being off an NRT for a number of days. Call Bullshit if you want, but WHEN I FAILED THAT TIME, I HAD NO CRAVING UNTIL I GOT HIT WITH A HEAVY PAIN KILLER.I think it had to do with my thinking process....I DIDN'T REALLY WANT TO QUIT! I was looking for an excuse to hit the copenshit again. This time I do REALLY WANT TO QUIT! It scares the living hell out of me to even think about taking another dip....EVER! So you people who don't think I am serious don't know me.
I am going to talk to my doc about the NRT. My own dad who quit smoking cold turkey years ago because of a heart attack told me it might be better for me to use an NRT. Anyways, that is my question and my feelings. Take care.

Sorry Smokeyg I didnt read the rule about the green dots. I thought this site was about quitting Nicotine? All he did was change the method of delivery. As stated all over this site NRT's dont have a very good success rate and most people that try them regret wasting the money.
I apologize for not doing more research on the fact that posting roll while on a NRT program is allowed. But that does not change my opinion.
I know if he walks away from KTC he has a much greater chance of caving. I hope the Doc gives him the OK so he can get on with it already.

I'm quit. 63 days. And that's all I have to say about that.

I will answer your question sincerely... realize that this is one man's opinion. Also, this is not the opinion of "admin chewie" this is the opinion of "quitter chewie".
If someone is using an NRT to step down from either chewing or smoking, why is that such a problem IF they are using the NRT according to the directions?
It's not. I have no problem with someone posting roll using this method. In fact one of my fellow October 2006 members did just this and still posts roll daily. He was successful. However he is in the minority. The VAST majority of people who use NRTs fail. We know this because we've seen it time and time again. We believe that the BEST way to quit is the cold turkey method because as you say you will never be truly free until you are nic free.
but if someone REALLY IS SINCERE about quitting and never wants to touch chew again, isn't it better to use the NRT if he or she feels they need it?
Maybe. Maybe not. You are an addict. I am an addict. The difference is you are an ACTIVE addict and I'm a QUIT addict. I'm not saying this to be disparaging but to point out the difference between us. You have nicotine flowing through your body (no matter how little). Your mind will allow you to rationalize any way to continue the flow of nic to it. That said, your body will always tell you that you NEED the nic - hence your addiction.
I have gone without any nic before when I tried to quit in the past. I failed. I also failed once AFTER being off an NRT for a number of days. Call Bullshit if you want, but WHEN I FAILED THAT TIME, I HAD NO CRAVING UNTIL I GOT HIT WITH A HEAVY PAIN KILLER.
I don't know the circumstances about your previous quits. I can pretty much guarantee that you never had a support system place like this site. If I had to guess I'd say your previous failure had more to do with the lack of support and commitment than it did with NRT.
I am going to talk to my doc about the NRT. My own dad who quit smoking cold turkey years ago because of a heart attack told me it might be better for me to use an NRT.
Is your dad a doctor? Why would his opinion of NRTs hold any more weight than a doctor (or us for that matter)? Either way, I think it's great that you're talking to your doc.
Stick around - regardless of your rocky start with the site I think we've proven that we CARE about your quit. Personally I'd like to see you stick it through and I'll be damn glad to see you hit the hall.
Time will tell.

Scrofford--I am iggnorant thanks for noticing- you are a pussy who is still in love with nicotine.
I require 2 things from new quitters:
-be committed- we can tell by your language you aren't
- allow yourself to surrender to something bigger than you.
When CD says "quit now"
Your response should be "you're right, thanks, I just threw my lozenges away"
Instead you resist because you live in fear of quitting and you like attention.
I accept NRT's as long as the person has the right attitude..most of them see the light and throw them out quickly...you are just delaying the enevitable. DAY #3!!!
When I told you that you were not strong enough to be here I was hoping the Badass Quitter in you would come out and respond "Fuck you Niwot- I'll show you"
Thus the "X" of Extreme.
You see, to me this is a job interview- I would love to see you here with a big attitude and reach the HOF and beyond because it makes us all stronger- another success story!! I need a fellow quitter not a High-maintenance pussy that is posting now!
So, in closing, as of now you are a bitch to nicotine and resist the "Support" we are providing. So go do it your way, I'm sure your people you can see and talk to have a lot of experience quitting Dip!
Come back and come HEAVY- with a quit or die attitude and a lot of humility and I will post next to you everyday.
Ignorant- yes!!

Firstly your bullshit requirements don't mean the pimple on the worlds ass to me. Fuck you and your "requirements".
Second, I will not be ordered around by some fucking "jerk wad" that I don't even know and have never met.
Third, I am not resisting anything except going back to Copenhagen. If I was standing in front of you I wouldn't even resist kicking your sorry fucking ass...Trust me I could.
Go crawl back under the fucking rock you came out of and leave me alone asshole.

At any rate, I will stick around Chewie...Thanks for your opinion and your feeling on this matter.

more nuggets from the world of heart troubles....
when you have an ep study the goal is to make your heart go into v-fib
nerve abnormalities or heart damage are the causes of all arrhythmias
when a v-tach or v-fib hits you, you fall backwards usually before you pass out
being de-fibbed externally feels like slamming your hand in a car door
being de-fibbed internally feels like getting hit by baseball bat
when you pass out from arrhythmia you get two very strange feelings a ringing in the ears and you tongue feels like it is swelling
cool stuff....

BTW this is for everyone....I have used less NRT today than what is recommended, so I am obviously on my way to stopping it too.

ok...look you seem like a pretty together guy, but nic and arrhythmias go hand in hand, you mentioned not cutting NRTs b/c you were worried about abnormal heart beats...i mentioned that i know (unfortunately, through experience) something about it...nicotine is not good for the heart and i wouldn't want anyone to ever HAVE to go through the pain and honestly fear of dying like i have, you made a really important decision to stop using tobacco because of health concerns, my personal experience with NRT is a lesson in how not to quit and nicotine is not a safe substance.
you actually have made an even better decision to join here, i never believed i would be nic free and only have to fight occasional cravings but here i am. why? for all the bitching, swearing, and calling folks out i am in charge of my quit and i know that my phone will ring off the hook if i fail to post (it has) and all my hard work and frankly the pain of withdraw will be spitting (no pun intended) on all the folks here who held me accountable for my quit, my friends who held me accountable, and most importantly my family that held me accountable. it wasn't friends and family that made it stick, it was perfect strangers that i simply make a promise to daily and they promise to me that has made my quit work
don't think that i don't care about your quit, actually, i care that you go all in, because i tried prolonging the worst part forever, now i know that the 6-7 days of hell were worth it

asked the doc to but he wouldn't...but i swear when my aicd fires it feels like it i'm getting electrocuted all over...hell man, all five senses affected, i'd almost rather be externally de-fibbed but 911 takes too long
Ok so what is the purpose of telling me about all of your heart probs? I have had some myself but nothing like you.
BTW this is for everyone....I have used less NRT today than what is recommended, so I am obviously on my way to stopping it too.
ok...look you seem like a pretty together guy, but nic and arrhythmias go hand in hand, you mentioned not cutting NRTs b/c you were worried about abnormal heart beats...i mentioned that i know (unfortunately, through experience) something about it...nicotine is not good for the heart and i wouldn't want anyone to ever HAVE to go through the pain and honestly fear of dying like i have, you made a really important decision to stop using tobacco because of health concerns, my personal experience with NRT is a lesson in how not to quit and nicotine is not a safe substance.
you actually have made an even better decision to join here, i never believed i would be nic free and only have to fight occasional cravings but here i am. why? for all the bitching, swearing, and calling folks out i am in charge of my quit and i know that my phone will ring off the hook if i fail to post (it has) and all my hard work and frankly the pain of withdraw will be spitting (no pun intended) on all the folks here who held me accountable for my quit, my friends who held me accountable, and most importantly my family that held me accountable. it wasn't friends and family that made it stick, it was perfect strangers that i simply make a promise to daily and they promise to me that has made my quit work
don't think that i don't care about your quit, actually, i care that you go all in, because i tried prolonging the worst part forever, now i know that the 6-7 days of hell were worth it
I honestly appreciate what you are saying. Thank you. The only thing is that in the past when I have tried to go cold turkey, the frickin stress and everything else helped cause my heart to beat irregularly....Not just once, but several times I have tried it that way.
My point is not that I love nicotine and that I want to stay with it. My point has been to drop down to a level where I won't be so uptight and stressed when I do decide not to use an NRT. Am I afraid of the withdrawls, only the one part of it that has to do with my heart beating irregularly from the stress. You know what I am talking about.
I am doing it this way and will get to a point here in a couple of days to where I am not using any NRT. That is my plan and it should work.

more nuggets from the world of heart troubles....
when you have an ep study the goal is to make your heart go into v-fib
nerve abnormalities or heart damage are the causes of all arrhythmias
when a v-tach or v-fib hits you, you fall backwards usually before you pass out
being de-fibbed externally feels like slamming your hand in a car door
being de-fibbed internally feels like getting hit by baseball bat
when you pass out from arrhythmia you get two very strange feelings a ringing in the ears and you tongue feels like it is swelling
cool stuff....

Hey guys, sorry to jump in on a topic that I really don't have any information on. But as it pertains to stress, and quitting, I can offer this:
I think you might just be delaying the inevitable. It sounds like you are doing everything you can to avoid going through the incredible fucking pain in the ass that quitting causes.
I would recommend planning on being a stressed out wreck for a few days, and do everything in your power to control those days.....rent funny movies, go for long walks, plan tons of shit that is relaxing and calming, and know that the stress you are going through is going to be over soon.
The actual physical suck doesn't last that long.....it very soon becomes strictly mental. You can do this!

now we are getting somewhere, i think almost anyone on here was afraid of withdraw and dealing with stressors without using...personally i was terrified when i quit but the folks here helped me overcome the fear, got me through the suck, (my wife probably would have told me to use by day 4 i was that bad) and got me here today. we can do this, if you think everyone here is a bad-ass quitter you're mistaken, a large number of us were bad ass addicts who turned the power of the addiction against itself. not because we are tough, but because we realized each in our own way (read intros and HOF speeches) that the mindless use of tobacco and nicotine was destroying our lives, wrecking our families, and making us into people we didn't want to be liars and cheats

interesting point CD, I am in fact addicted to my quit now.
But one point that needs to be made in this discussion is that I hope you've discussed this quittin thing with your doc scofford. If I missed something I apologize, but it sounds like you're using NRT as a self-medication for the quit. If that's the case, then you are putting off the inevitable and your addiciton is making excuses. Go see your doc and a cardioloist ASAP. They know the effects of nicotine on the pump. They will tell you the safest way to clean yourself. My suggestion is that you ask the question of whether or not cold turkey will be harmful and if they say no go that route. It is painful, but the memory of that pain will server as a catalyst for your quit later. But again, when it comes to the pump that makes all other pumps work, don't listen to anyone but a doc.
Oh and speaking of defibs, if you ever find yourself in the back of an ambulance when one is being used, make sure you're not touching the stretcher. 'shock'

Thanks for all of your advice guys! I guess my attitude toward everything has been kinda sucky and I apologize about that one too. I will talk to my doctor about all of this! :)
-
I had some cravings today but won't even think about touching a tin. I go to the doc tomorrow and I am going to talk to her about my NRT. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I did, but in a lot of pain with my hip. Oh well, drive on I will!

Good luck with the doc today Scrofford.
About the pain in your hip, just an observation from my own addiction, and my own quit. I always refused to exercise properly and get proper nutrition when dipping. While you're with the doc, maybe you can get some advice on proper exercise, nutrition, stretching, supplementing, etc for your particular condition.

Thanks for the tip..I have degenerative hip disease and have a very hard time with "cardio" exercise. I do lift weights for my upper body which helps to burn fat, but I wish I could run or even just walk a good distance again. I have to get some weight off before I can have my hip replaced. So diet and weights are what I am doing right now. Its very frustrating because I used to train Kung Fu and loved it. Someday I will get back into it.
-
Well my stupid doctors appointment got rescheduled so I am just going to quit the NRT and see what happens. I also joined the YMCA today and am going to start really working on getting my body back into shape. The hip problem will be painful but I can do some stuff as far as weight lifting and water stuff. The doctor resched. me for Nov 23. I really don't want to wait until then to talk to her. I am thinking about finding another doctor for that matter. 'bang head'

Way to go scrofford!
I've been following your thread, for what its worth, when I first quit my heart fluttered a bit and was told that was quite normal. It may take a while for your body to adjust to not being poisoned.
Congrats on your decision, you go this! Let me know if I can help.

I have a question...My tounge is sore and I have a lot of "white" patches all over it. On the left side it looks like some of the white stuff came off and it is sore in that spot. My tounge is also "throbbing" a bit and feels "thick". This has happened all AFTER I quit. Any answers about this?

Thank you...I am just curious if anyone here has been diagnosed with oral cancer AFTER quitting the chew.

Scrofford, very many of us experience the same symptoms. Before I go further, I recommend you write to iuchewie directly and ask him about this. He has a wealth of information about exactly this effect.
You've been putting poison in your mouth again and again, many times a day, day after day, for years if you're like the rest of us. You've been moving that shit around in your mouth with your tongue pretty much constantly (Duh, many of us have an oral fixation, great for the ladies). So now you've stopped. Think your mouth won't notice?
It's used to the poison. It's wondering where it is. It will get over it. You're now running your tongue around in your mouth (you still have the oral fixation) on nothing, or on those damn sunflower seeds (who's idea was that?) or on the Hooch or Rocky Mountain Chew (fake dip). Your mouth is freaking out. Like I said, it'll get over it.
Go to the doc if you like. Might put a bunch of things to rest. Chewie had self-diagnosed all kinds of shit that wasn't real. Just be cool. I'll go out on a limb and frankly guarantee, you're fine. Just hang tough. It'll pass in a couple of days, long enough for a pimple to grow then disappear. Same kind of thing.

Scroff, try laying off eating all the paint chips. 'winker'
Actually give it a week and if it doesn't clear up go to the dentist. It seems to me that anything in your mouth that happens in the first two weeks of your quit is generally quit related. I am not a doctor, but your complaint has been one I have seen here before

PS, I am 226 days quit. On dip I always got great dental reports except for some receding of the gums which I had fixed 238 days ago. So generally I had a good mouth even after 15 years of abuse.
However, i wanted you to know that even after 226 days i still have fucking rancid breathe. I don't know what the fuck it is. And it's starting to drive me insane.
I brush, floss, use mouthwash (2 kinds) and still it's nasty. I blame it soley on the years of abuse. So like you have been told, it takes a while and sometimes never to get back to normal. And yes, i still get sores, but I am apt to think they are just viral because even when I was little I always got canker sores and my youngest guy gets them too.
Keep an eye on what's going on and like you have been told give it another week.

My mouth feels better today. Still hurts some but improving. I can't believe the kind of damage the Copenshit does to your mouth wow! You don't even realize it until after you quit either! Well some do...they get cancer or their teeth rot out or what ever. I am glad that I have stopped and will never go back! Ever!

Scroff,
Take a moment to think about how shitty your yap feels, then how shitty the withdrawls, heart probs, health probs all exacerbated by nicotine. Now think about how long it took to get up the stones to quit. I bet it all feels pretty hard right?
Good, now remember that shit for the rest of your life, because the day you forget what it feels like in the beginning is the day your going to open the door back up to your addiction.
Good +1

Scroff,
Looks like you decided to take off the patch on the 10th.
How were the last 3 days and how does it feel to be nicotine free?
