Title: 9/18 Quit date
Post by: BNola on September 19, 2016, 10:33:00 AM
Just checking in. I quit yesterday afternoon. I'm 12 hours into it and those of you who have some time under your belt why on earth would you ever want to go through this madness again? I've got cold sweats constantly, headache, cravings, foggyness, confusion, and fatique. Last night I barely slept, spent the night walking off tension. My whole being is consumed by this lunatic withdrawal. My thoughts are absolutely incoherent.
Hanging in there. Not giving up. Not going to allow this drug to have this much of a physical hold over me.

Welcome. Go to the Welcome Center (http://forum.killthecan.org/forum/55560/)and learn how to post roll (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1003072/1/#new). Posting roll is the cost of admission to this otherwise free site.

The first three days are absolute hell. After that it just sucks a lot. When you finally break through past the suck, you will experience a sense of freedom which is quite frankly priceless.

Between now and then, read a lot on this site. Reach out to others, and refuse to cave.

Proud to quit with you.

Welcome Nola.

The first few days are the only time you will feel physical withdrawals; however you will soon find out the mental hold nicotine had on your life. Even at day 72 I am still repairing my brain to live without dip. For the past ten years I have done everything with a dip in!

I hope to see you post your day 1 in the December pre-hof group. These guys will help you along the way, go one day at a time and you will soon feel a lot better about yourself. PM me if you need anything.

-Dan
-Day 72

My brains are a bit scrambled still. It might take me a day or two to be able to do roll call, simple tasks have been challenging today. Waiting for the fog to lift .
Thank you all for your support and words of encouragement.

Just find the December roll and hit add reply, put your name on the roll. Remove ANY possibility of a cave for that one 24 hour period....assuming you're a man of integrity. I'd do it now if I were you....

The fog will come and go for a bit, don't wait at all for it to lift. That would just be another excuse!! Make sure you post roll EDD, cause the only way to jack up roll is to not be on it!!

The withdrawal symptoms will soon pass. It's the cravings I'm fighting so hard. I quit with you

I quit Sunday night September 18th at about 9 pm. I have chewed about 35 years and I am only 42. Day 1 was fine, however that nights sleep was horrible. Anxiety terribly bad, hallucinated and heat flashes. Day 2 was fine until about 8 pm that night. Went to my happy place , while everyone was going to bed I go watch some sports. Alone time at last but watching baseball and really wanting my night cap. Day 3 more of a struggle. My after lunch craving was bad, after supper not much better. Planning on a bad night I decided to start sharing. When done with this I think I will need a walk, can't go to my man cave this soon, again last night was horrible. Now to share how I am doing it and some of the surprises I have found. Tried the niccerette , not a fan but have been useing 2 to 3 pieces a day. Not sure if it is helping or not. Kind of bloats you. Lots of sunflower seeds and planning on more gum and hard candies tomorrow. Bought some wintergreen Oregon mint, reminds me of Hawkins, again not a fan but it did help me through last night watching the baseball game. Anyone have a better product? Something more like Skoal. One thing I am really surprised about is I was for sure the hardest dip to go without was going to be my morning after coffee dip but this time has not bothered me much at all. Sorry kind of choppy but doing it from a phone is not the best idea. Looking for help and looking to help anyway I can. I'm strong, I am going to this for me. I'm done with this crap however I want one so bad right now. The mind games are the worst.

Deskbum,

Nice job jacking Bnola's intro. First off, we quit cold turkey here, no nicotine replacement(gum, patches, ect...), if you are still using the gum you need stop that crap now, man up and do this the right way. If you are not using the gum then you need to head over to the Quit Group section and post roll in December 16, making your promise to not use for the next 24 hours. You also may want to start your own intro thread.....

It doesn't bother me at all - good to see someone going through the same crap as I am. It does get a little better everyday. Cold Turkey is a bitch, but I think the point is go cold turkey, get it out of your system, using nicotine delivery products just keep putting the drug back into your system. Imagine giving a heroin addict gum containing heroin. Sooner or later you're going to have to stop the intake of nicotine, the gum is just delaying the inevitable, making a three day withdraw a five day withdrawal.

I'm still trying to find this roll call list.

Bottom left hand corner, go to quit groups, than after hall of fame you will see December future hof. That is where I did it, but not sure I did it right. lol Yes nothing but hard candy and sunflower seeds for me. I been trying that Oregon mint snuff, which is tobacco and nicotine free. It has helped but wish I could find something different.

Deskbum make sure to post role in December. The price of admission is posting roll, everyday. Also the prerequisite for posting roll is that you aren't doing nicotine in any form. Gum, patches, ecigs etc. You can't post roll until you're going it cold turkey.

Don't worry about accidentally posting on someone else's intro, it happens all the time. BNola will look back and laugh at it. One of the best intros I've read here is this one: NOLAQ (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1005666/12/) count how many times a newbie wonders in and post an intro on NOLAQ's intro. It'll have you rolling in the floor! Not to mention, this is also one of the most inspiring intros on KTC.
