My name is Jason. I've been a user for 16 years.
Day three man. Holy hell. This shit is so bad I feel like I'm going to get fired. I feel like my brain quit working.
I decided to buy a can this morning. As I pulled into the parking lot, my mom called and told me my granddad was in the hospital getting stints. He was an avid tobacco user. At least it changed my mind.
I look forward to this journey now that I found this site.
Thanks guys!

Jason, congrats on your decision. Day 3 is peak physical addiction day-- you last with nicotine in your system. 3days quit is bad ass!
It will get better. You have some fog and craving ahead, along with the last of the suck you have been going through. But all that beats cardio damage requiring stents!
Drink lots of water, exercise. Avoid tobacco.
Check out the February 2016 quit group. Say hello, post roll, your promise not to use nicotine for one day. Repeat first thing tomorrow morning and every day after that.
Exchange digits with your fellow quitters, text or call before you surrender to nicotine again.
Read everything on this site, the hall of fame speeches, words of wisdom, intros, and cancer stories. Go to live chat to vent, or pass a crave with other quitters.
I quit with you today.

Holy shit Jason ... what a great decision! Listen to NoMore and the rest of these others that will chime in. Take this as serious as your life ... in many ways there is no real difference between following through with your decision today or having nicotine drive your decisions for the rest of your life.
If you can't quit after 3 days, you won't anytime soon. Get it done man! You the man!

Congratulations Jason for figuring out tobacco not only causes cancer but also a silent killer of the heart! I'm a 38 year addict. Been free for 314 days I had a heart attack 2 year's ago. Even after my heart specialist told me it was from nic I dipped for another year before I could quit and probably wouldn't be now without ktc and my brothers and sisters! Nic is a very powerful drug . Post roll ,early, edd ! I quit with you today!

Day 3 is horrible. It is like eating a really really old can of sardines. Not pretty.
After you eat the old fish it seems like you will vomit forever. Like It won't ever end. Like the misery and pain is the new normal.
It isn't. It will get so much better. If I can help at all let me know. This is so worth it.
I promise.

Congrats on making the right decision.
Stay strong and quit.
Post roll and reach out to anyone for help.

So,...that can you bought yesterday morning before your mom called to tell you about your grandfather, where is it? Did you flush it? toss it in the dumpster? I hope my hunch that you still have that can is a false one. Make sure that can and every other source of nicotine has been flushed. I'm not talking about throwing it a way or dumping it on the ground. I can't tell you how many times I or others have gone "dumpster diving" for tins we've tossed or scraped up the tird we just dumped on the ground (I'm still in awe over how pathetic that was, just typing it). Flush it. Destroy the nicotine (there's also a bit of symbolism in doing said act).
Get your name on that roll call every day. Quitting ain't easy and it sucks until it doesn't suck anymore. But, once you get to that stage, man...I can't tell you how blissful life becomes when that nic bitch isn't a part of it.

Jason, welcome to the site. Listen to all these guys. If it's heart problems you're worried about, make no mistake that nicotine in any form is sure to cause them. Listen to Pab. He actually DID suffer a heart attack from this shit. The risk is for real. By the time I quit, my blood pressure was out of control and my resting heart rate was 110-120. My doctor told me it's a small miracle that I didn't have a stroke or heart attack myself. I'm only 31 years old.
And I will echo what has been said about the can you bought. Flush it like the shit that it is. The money was wasted the second it passed into the cashier's hands at the gas station or wherever you bought it. Cut your losses, remain quit, and dump that can. There is no comfort or safety to be had from keeping it, only temptation.
-
Good decision.. Glad you are quit! Everything has been said here, flush the can, exercise, drink water. Dive into this site, become involved. Get yourself a new toothbrush, you wont believe what a fresh start and end to each day that will give you.
Reach out in your quit group, and get active. Before you know it, you will be feeling wonderful and reaching out to help a newbie, that is the full circle affect that makes this so unique. Quit on brother!
-
Thanks guys. I guess in my withdrawal fog I've been in, I didn't explain myself very well. I actually didn't buy the can. I was going to but my mom's call changed my mind
I'm watching a video of how to post roll.
Thanks again!
-
Tuggin where you at my friend? That video is not that long. Get on that Roll, post your promise do the best thing you can do for yourself! We all care about you! I want you to live life to the fullest, just like the good Lord intended you to do! I promise you, if I can quit after 38 year's you can. It takes strength, courage and alot of want to to succeed but it is very doable! Post roll now because waiting could end up 10 year's down the road. With your family history can you afford or I should say be here to post? Quit with you today!
-
Nice to see you on roll! Try to post your promise in the morning so it protects your quit during the day. Posting late as a status update misses the point of promising to use no nicotine today. Plus you will catch some grief from other quitters if you always post late.
Post when you wake up, if you work a second shift tell your group so they know when to check on you.

Thanks for the pointers. I'm pretty sure I just posted roll 3 times this morning on accident. I'll get this figured out.

F-ing up the roll post is (in my opinion) part of the initiation. I'm pretty sure 99% of us were either confused by it or F'd it up in it's entirety. Regardless, I could care less. 697 days in and I have never missed a day. Never.
I promise to quit every day and I have no intentions of not promising every day. Nicotine addiction is no joke and my daily promise is expected. AND...others depend on me to make that promise. You, see....My quit isn't just about me any more. Yes, I quit for me and me alone, but throughout that process I have gained accountability that knows no end. My quit group, ...they depend on me. Those in my quit foundation, they depend on me. And those who know Steakbomb...EXPECT to see me on roll call every day. I quit for me, but if I fuck up, then everybody else who depends on me being quit so that they stay quit takes it in the ass. I won't ever let them down...they mean too much to me. Because without them I wouldn't be posting roll every day...and I probably wouldn't be quit. See how this works...it's a full circle.
Tuggin' ...I'm pullin' for you. If you take anything away from the jargon I just spewed ...take this; Post roll and I will quit with you every f'n day. And so will everyone else who gives a damn.

Don't worry about fucking the roll up. We all have done it or double posted even. Someone will come along and fix it. The main point is that you posted your promise to your self and your fellow quitters.
I look forward to seeing you on roll in the morning. I quit with you today brother!

Alright guys. I feel like I've found the pattern/triggers of what makes me go up and down, in and out of the foggy fucking frame of forgetfulness.
I dipped snuff for 15-16 years. I quit three years ago...switching my addiction from snuff to 4MG nicotine gum. I chewed that shit all day, every day. I convinced all my friends, loved ones, and coworkers that it was completely healthy. They supported me.
The past year or so, I've been dipping, chewing nicotine gum, and using the patch. Cold turkey is the best thing I've done.
My triggers are when I'm on auto pilot. When I do routine activities, I dig in my pocket to find nico gum or snuff. When I'm active, working outside of my comfort zone, or doing something challenging, I rarely think about it.
My posts still seem all over the place...out of whack. I do feel better and I credit this website and it's awesome members with my success so far. Keep up the good work!

It looks like great breath has become a side affect of me quitting.
