Title: aggieheismanziel
Post by: aggieheismanziel on February 11, 2014, 03:40:00 AM
i am 25 years old and started dipping my freshman year of college at Texas AM. I have attempted to quit many times before, once going 6 months without dipping. During that time, mostly the first month and a half it was pure hell, anxiety out the ass almost all the time. I dont know if any of you have had a panic attack before but it felt like i was having one almost 24/7. So after i failed after six months i was scared to try and quit again, until now, i am determined that last monday ( february 2nd 2014) will be the last dip i ever put in.

Welcome,

I am 25 as well and started my freshman year of high school. I just rolled 10 years when I decided to quit. It's a good place to get the help that so many of us need. Find a quit group and start posting roll. Make sure you post roll every day. If you really are ready then make it happen One Day At A Time. There are many people here to help you and many who will need your help as well. You got this and pm me with any questions and I will try my best to help. I am at day 86 and have never felt better to be quit and to take my life back. No more panicking when I get to work and realize I forgot to buy a can. It's all gone now and so on. As for the anxiety it will pass. But just focus on each day of your quit.

LAST MONDAY? Hey man the nicotine is out of your system by now. It is now your brain repairing itself...Anxiety is very popular in quitting and seems to be a trick our brains use on us to get more nicotine. There is a forum on here about anxiety and depression that might help to read...It does get better and I promise the anxiety will fade with time..but just keep posting your daily promise of you quit and day by day you will feel the Freedom we all enjoy by being QUIT.

Welcome, again, to Project Mayhem, Aggie. Great guys in our group, and some pretty stellar quitters getting our backs. As you get comfortable with the site, you should spend some time reading the intros and postings of some of the badass veteran quitters from the early days of their quits. You'll be inspired by the number of guys (and girls) that came before you with similar stories or more daunting odds. Reach out to them and your Mayhem brothers -- we're all in this together. Stay strong and quit on!

Hmmm, plenty of drinkers don't cave. Are you saying that drinking caused the cave? If you weren't drinking would you have smoked?

Mod's - do not merge this thread until we see some answers.

Luvstolickjohnyclevelandsnuts - You don't get it. Find somewhere else to try and stop for a fresh 100.

If you want to quit, you need to admit you are an addict, then decide if you are willing to grow a sack and close the door. Once you do that, start working on some answers to the three questions.

There are sites out there for folks just looking to torture themselves with stopping over and over again. They coddle you and tell you it's OK as long as you are trying.

This is not that site, and we do not take caving as lightly as you seem to think. This site is for quitters. Take your hundred day trophy seeking ass somewhere else or man up and join us.

Quitsmokeless.org

Go there follow the links to that forum. You will be welcomed there.

You spent 104 days here. You have 72 posts...which includes this deuce you just dropped here. That means you didn't post Roll very consistently the first time. Which means you didn't read very much and your participation was less than admirable. Which means you obviously still have your head up your ass and are terribly unlikely to remove it long enough to get it this time.

Follow that link. Now. And tell Flavius ol LOOT said, "Fuck You". He'll know what you mean.

Please don't post here again. You are chewing up valuable resources that would be better dedicated to those that actually care.

Loot is right on the money. After looking at your post history, you quit posting after 100 days. Even then, you didn't post everyday. The Hall of Fame isn't a miracle. You need much more grit and determination if you want to quit. Answer the three questions?

So I will now be starting a fresh 100? That's fucking lame. This is not a come and go quit as you please reset the counter place. There are hundreds upon hundreds of bad ass quitters giving it everything they got every single day. In effort to ensure they remain quit at all cost. You prior posting habits and lack of any testicular fortitude is the equivalent of pissing in all of our mouths. Doesn't fly.

That's hysterical. So on day 104, you decided to join friends at a pool, chose to puff the ole death stick, and now you expect us to believe what? That it isn't your fault and you can nonchalantly waltz back in here to start over?

I know of 5 guys who have gone out drinking with their old buddies - myself included - with quits less than a month old and we are all still quit. It is a choice - you are either an addict or a quit addict. You made 100 days so you should know better than to bring that shit in here. Post your 3 answers or go back to the pool. Our quits are too hard-earned to be desecrated by the flippant attitude you showed above.

What pisses me off, Aggie, is that you texted a few of us today and fessed up to your cave. Why didn't you text us when you were thinking of caving? This could have easily been avoided. I've 'had a few beers' several times, so have numerous others, without caving.
You're going to need a different approach for this to work in the long term. You know what would have been better than 104? 105 would have been pretty cool, for starters.

You went 104 days and fucked it up. What a waste... If you dig your head out of your backside then Here are the 3 questions.

What happened?
Why did it happen?
What are you gonna do different this time?

Don't take this lightly. You better be serious if you post another day 1. If you aren't ready then go hang out by the pool with your buddies.

Aggie- did you see these old vets who are blowing up our quit group with that same old tired song? Well it's not directed at those of us who post roll. It's directed at half-assers like you.
So why don't you address the fact that you missed roll 4 out of the last 5 days, then show up on Monday and say you "made it through the weekend".
When I woke up today I did not think to myself "holy shit, I made it". Because I am not skating around the edge of the cliff. You're on day 56, and you're saying "made it through the weekend"?
Why aren't you posting roll? Do you want to stay quit?
If you don't give a shit, why are you even bothering to post roll today?

Aggie, if you spent half the energy on this site that these fine gentlemen have that are telling you off, you might get it. Like slug said, many of us have "had a few beers" and not caved. I spent a drunk weekend with two smokers and 3 chewers and never even thought about caving. Why? Because I came here and learned how to be quit.

Warnings all over the place- watch out around HOF many caves. Beware of alcohol. Post every day. There's no excuse for this cave. There is a reason- failed to learn, as Sir D points out. I have no time for someone who puts almost no effort into a life and death situation and harms others in the process of being a fool. Please go away until you mean it. This is to big a deal and you have been taking up space.

Realize you May quitters are pissed with one of your own. It's worth calling out that he didn't lie. He owned up albeit with few words why and moved from May to August. Could have been handled differently with more favorable results. As a new quitter who realizes KTC support is propping me up daily, I'm fine with him coming back. If he's man enough to post roll AND get more involved... Time will tell.

It's his attitude Done4Me that is ticking us off. People cave and come back, and as long as they answer the 3 questions and dedicate themselves to their quit, they will be accepted again.

Take his post count, he hit the HoF with less than 100 posts? That tells me he is a part-time stopper, and his cave was to be expected. The KTC resource is right here for all of us, but there is a level of accountability that comes with using the resource. I hope Aggie decides to use the resource better, but the ball is in his court now.

Done4, I appreciate your view. You should welcome him if he posts roll and gets involved. That does not give him a pass on what he has done to desecrate the sanctity of our May brotherhood. HE TEXTED SEVERAL GUYS TO TELL THEM HE CAVED! Why couldn't he do that before he caved?!
We are all glad that he is still here and still trying to quit, although I couldn't find him on the august roll this morning. That said, we are all very upset that he let his brothers down and himself after all that he went through. Obviously, the reason was that he was not heavily vested in the site. From what I see of you so far, Done4, you are more vested already than he was at 104 days.
All in all, he still needs to answer the 3 questions.

Let everyone, new and veteran, take this lesson. If your are not involved, and not posting roll daily, more than likely a cave is coming your way. You only get out what you put in!

Hey Done4 you have 65 posts as of right now. He has 72 after 105+days. You're working it the way it is supposed to be worked. He did not, despite having the same resources available to him as you do. And despite his having the good fortune to be in a text group of some of the strongest quitters in recent times right there with him daily.

I think Done4Me is doing great, but one more nit pick with his defense of Aggie- He does not get any credit for not lying about his cave. Being honest about caving is the bare minimum expected of a member. If he had lied about his cave and continued to post roll, he would no longer be a member here. So let's not start blowing him because "he didn't lie".
I hope you get him involved and he becomes a quitter.

Done4 keep doing what you are doing. As for Aggie this fucking intro is a train wreck we can't want it more than him. He has posted only 2x in 3 pages and neither post were answers to the three questions. IF HE DOESN'T CARE ENOUGH TO RESPOND HERE FORGET HIM. There are other new quitters who need us and have not let us down. I will believe it when he gets to 100 days as a 100% roll poster. Until then I am done with this poser!

Aggie - you knew this was coming, and you knew it was fully deserved. A part of me -- increasingly diminishing -- believes that you want to do better, which basically means throwing out your playbook from your first hundred days and figuring out how to own your quit. Pope hit the nail on the head: your cave was a donkey kick to the nuts, particularly since we first connected on chat when you were flirting with joining the site some hundred plus days ago. We PM'ed, exchanged numbers, and I brought you into a text group of solid quitters. Generally speaking, you were a good participant in the text group -- maybe not starting new conversation threads, but not being completely AWOL either. You've had a lot going on in your life -- I get that -- but it's not an excuse. I promise that every single damn person that's posted to your intro page has had some sort of stress in their life over the last hundred days, but stress is different for everyone and it's absurd to say "but mine was worse". I also guarantee that these same guys -- and they're badass on a scale that you  I can't fathom, by the way -- have had plenty of opportunities to consume nic carelessly in the past hundred days, myself included.

You said you were going to post answers to the three questions, start posting religiously in both May and August, and commit yourself to a new, no-bullshit quit. Let's be honest: I had to draw it out of you, after someone mentioned that you hadn't posted for several days. If you're serious about this, I'm here to support you, even if I take a shellacking from seasoned vets and guys in May  August for doing so. Each of us has to own our personal quits, however, and not rely entirely on others to babysit them along the way. Support is one thing, but no one here can make you post roll every day, just as no one can prevent you from consuming nic in some form or fashion.

I'm sorry I let you down -- your cave has me rethinking everything in terms of who to support, how to do so, and what I can realistically expect of the effort. Good luck and I hope you determine what's best for you.

Why...in the hell would you apologize to him? You let HIM down? Totally don't get that line of thinking.

The bottom line is there are some people you just can't help. You will run across them here. Unfortunately, you will waste a lot of time on someone who will fuck you the first time his friends show up with some smokes at a pool party. That ain't your fault. It's not your problem. LOOT totally gets that you take it personally. How it bums you to no end. However, try not to think of it in those terms. Try and see the big picture. We are all addicts. We are all walking that tightrope. You lose concentration for 1 second...you die. There is no safety net. There are no do overs. Get that notion out of your head for good.

Aggie is a cancer. A cancer this site doesn't need. There are places for him. This just ain't one.

LOOT, for one, is sick of the ball coddling that goes on here sometimes. Fuck that. That's not how we work. We make a daily pledge. We honor that pledge, no matter what. We may be a lot of things. We may be low down dirty rotten assholes in all aspects of life...but we are not LIARS here. Lie to whoever the fuck you want, whenever you want, but you won't fucking lie to LOOT here and get away with it. LOOT takes this shit extremely personally because the personal stakes are high.

If you so much as think about fucking lying to LOOT...get the fuck out now. Save yourself the brow beating and save LOOT's blood pressure. If you are not with us...you are against us and we have no tolerance for your bullshit.

Loot- Krusty has a lot invested in Aggie. I think he is trying hard to get Aggie to stick around. Everyone in our quit group has something invested in him to some degree. Your post is a good reminder that just like no one was ever able to convince us to quit, (everyone here is on this site for one reason- we made the decision to quit, our wives or mommies couldn't make us do it) we can't convince Aggie to quit.
I was trying to motivate the dude with some ball busting, but after more than a day of waiting for him to post something of substance, and then reading your post here, I am convinced he is not worth the effort. Whatever energy we have expended in him is a sunk cost, don't invest any more. Even if he wants to be here, I don't give a shit anymore.
With all the talk about quitsmokeless.org or whatever it is, I went and checked that site out. What a trip. Its for losers and pussy half-assers. Aggie will thrive there.

I'm proud of you... again. Now I'll really be proud when you post Day 105, and then continue to rack up +1's. I gotta say though, you've been a stoic warrior these last 100 days, I've noticed your daily roll posts in May and it makes me confident that you're winning.

Aggie, you reaching HOF feels like a lot of us reached HOF today! Share your wisdom with new quitters every day! You are rocking it, my friend!
I'm proud of you... again. Now I'll really be proud when you post Day 105, and then continue to rack up +1's. I gotta say though, you've been a stoic warrior these last 100 days, I've noticed your daily roll posts in May and it makes me confident that you're winning.

Congrats Aggie! Wow, what a ride (or a couple of rides) so far! Now is the time to re-focus your energies, and do what you need to do to stay involved. Go support some newbs, reach out a hand. Own your quit by paying it forwards. You've been through a lot, and have a lot to offer ... make the effort bro. Don't get complacent post-HOF, you're not cured here. Your brothers in August need you, everyone here needs you ... Refocus and QUIT stronger!

Gotta admit that I didn't think you would make HOF again. Nice job proving me wrong. Congrats!
