Hello folks! My name is Jim. I have been chewing for about 9-10 years.
To make a long story short, I have realized the world is changing around me. I am interviewing for a Job on the 10th and they are a "tobacco free" work place. They even test for tobacco use, and if you fail your not hired. This was a little wake up call for me that said hey, you need to kick this damn habit.... it's costing you too much money and it just may cost you this new job.
Anyways... I am on day 4. I wish I had a better understanding of when I'll feel better. Day 1-2 were tough. All I did was sleep both days away... I had never been more tired..... Day 3 I bought me some Smokey Mountain Stuff - tobacco free all Herbal Stuff, to help with the oral fixation. Well day 3 it seemed to help.... yesterday was a good day... so far this morning... HELL... I am having cravings and fatigue mixed together. I sorta feel dizzy and not able to focus.
When will I get my focus back? I feel like i'm walking around in a Haze and I hate it.

Hi Jim,
Congrats on your decision. What you are referring to is what we call the fog. This is the period of time when your body is trying to rewire itself to that toxin free state you were in before the nic.
The "fog" lifts over the next week or so for most people so don't worry, you will not feel this way forever. On the bright side day 4 means that the nic is out of your bloodstream and now you get to fight the head games.
We have all been right where you are.
Have you posted roll yet?
Look to the tab bar just below the KTC logo. Click on the pink Welcome center icon to get started and join a community that can offer you support if you want it.
If you have any questions send me a message or post and someone will get back to you.
The most important thing right now should be to read the welcome center lit, find your group and post roll.

What happens when you pass the drug test and realize that there are more test?
What happens when you find another job, which does not drug test?
Make sure you have a list of reason's why you want to quit, with this job being just one of many factors.
As far as the fog, day 3-5 was the worst. After that each day will get a little better.

get 'em Jim!!! i had been using dip since college. i'm 51 years old now.
i had no idea how addicted i was - and the stories the Nic Bitch told me in my head about it were so ... well now i look back and they're just weird.
it gets easier and easier. but it's not automatic. that's where the men and women of this site/community have it right: lean on each other. check in. post roll every morning.
i will not dip or chew today. period. that is all there is.
happy and proud to be here with you

I just want to be clear on this. I'm quitting because I'm sick and tired of having my life wrapped around a little can of chew. What I mean by that is, I would panic if I were running low and didn't have a replacement. I could not go anywhere without throwing a dip in. The JOB offer, is my biggest motivator. But I am one of those people that believe, if I have went this long... why would I bother putting another dip in my lip.
I am using Smokey Mountain Snuff to help curb the urges. I have 2 cans of that left, and those are my last 2 cans to use as a crutch. Tomorrow will be no crutches at all.. just will power.
I have tried to quit once before and it only lasted a few hours... I had let fear defeat me. My mind was going insane with urges and I caved the very same day.
This time... I am on day 5 now - I still have urges, but I am able to control them without sleeping my day away (which is how I coped the first 2.5 days)
I am done for life! I will not forget how HARD this is to quit.. and it is not something I want to experience again...... I look back on it and chewing has cost me a lot. Not only money.. but in the dating world.. as soon as a girl found out I chewed, she was out..... I hate this habit... and I'm done with it.
I'm not sure what posting Roll is... I will look around a bit... but I'm day 5 and going strong.

you've got the right mentality... but posting roll is where it is at. it's a promise for you to keep for a day at a time. sounds simple and easy to do, and it is. the execution is the tough part. the nic bitch doesn't go away easily. she's a pretty obvious opponent for the first couple of weeks, but then she gets sneaky. THAT's when the board really helps.
definitely look around. click on the Welcome Center (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13) to learn more.
no one's ever regretted quitting.
plenty have regretted not quitting.

Look at all these Ohio quitters! The fog sucks, but it doesn't last long. Things WILL get better, everyday you quit the easier it gets, I promise.
Post Roll!
