Title: Hey guys, this is my first "real" quit.
Post by: svf0003 on June 01, 2015, 08:15:00 PM
My name is Shawn. I've dipped 1-2 cans a day since I was 18, so I'm going on 11 years now. The only time I've "quit" was after gallbladder surgery, only to pick it right back up. Anyway, my wife is gone for the summer for work (she left on my quit date), so I figured this was the perfect time since I'll have one less person to get angry with. I had a 4-6 beer a night habit that I've dropped at the same time, so I'm definitely on edge and going through an adjustment period.

Days 1 and 2 were terrible. My weekend routine went something like this: waking up, running a mile, walking the dog, eating lunch, pacing to let the food digest, run another mile, come home, eat, toss and turn in the bed trying to sleep. The worst part for me is the foggy brain and extreme tiredness. Coffee doesn't touch this fatigue. Work seems to help take my mind off it, and luckily it's not a job I can freely dip at.

I'm going to stick to this and do it. Dipping is a waste of money, good teeth, and potentially life. The indigestion was getting the best of me also. I just want to thank you guys for doing this. I'm hoping it's just what I need to stick to my quit.

Shawn

SVF. Nice job posting roll call today! Proud to quit with you and awesome job doing the first tough days on your own hard core style.

September Samurai 2015 Quit Group has a really strong group of Bad Ass Quitters and we are glad to add you to that roster...we are ALL going to make it together.

Private Message (PM) any of us in the group if you start to feel challenged. Also, lots of other quitters who have been doing this much longer than me will help you out too. Don't hesitate to lean on them.

In the meantime, surf the site, read up on symptoms, personal stories, etc. This site doesn't cost you a penny, but it's not free. Your cost is:

1. As soon as you wake up every morning, you must post roll call - which is your commitment to yourself, me and your fellow Samurai that you will not put nicotine in your system that day

2. Honor your promise and make your Quit rock solid all day.

3. Wake up the next day and repeat.

Simple, right? Talk to you soon and be strong.

I'm an Old Dog only 5 days clean after 38 years dipping. This is the best site you could have found to take you all the way to the promised land.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Those first couple of days were rough, but I feel better now that I've found this place. Good luck to you, I'm sure we can beat this thing.

Shawn,

Great start to a great quit. Just one word. Luck has no place here. We quit because we are men and women of integrity. We make a daily promise to our brothers and sisters that we're not going to use nicotine in ANY form, then we honor that promise. Those who can't, they are sooner or later found out and drummed out of this place. This site has NO ROOM for less than honorable folk. Maybe they rely on luck..... we do not! QUIT ON, friend.

Welcome to the family Shawn. It's all uphill from here... At least for awhile but it will get better. Read everything that this site has to offer. There are countless articles that will help keep you on the straight  narrow. You just have to want it. I'll quit w/ you any day bro.
