Title: 1st Day-Starting NOW
Post by: moairgunner on March 20, 2018, 10:53:00 AM
20 years of Skoal Mint and today I had enough. Tired of sneaking in a dip at home and wondering when the wife will come home. Trying to keep just enough cash to buy a tin so I do not use the card so the wife will know. Tired of planning my day around the dip. Just tired of it

Brief and to the point. Whatever helps you stay quit. Go post roll with us in June 2018.

Nice job posting roll. You nailed it.

Keep posting roll early every morning. Treat it as the solemn promise that it is.

I activated IPhone Finder on my wife ands kidsÂ’ phones so that I always know where they were. I did this just so I could make sure they were never able to sneak up on me and catch me with a chew in my mouth. How pathetic is that? And I also only used cash to buy my chew. Pretty sad what an addiction to nicotine can make a grown man do.

Welcome to the rest of your life! I promise you it gets better. I am at 73 Days today and I feel better today than I have felt in 20 years.

Just about through with Day 1. Why I picked the day I woke up 2.5 hours early as the day to quit but still the right decision. Tomorrow is tomorrow's battle. Just need to battle through today.

Shit, Skoal Mint made me its bitch for over 30 years....Welcome, this is the best move you will ever make regarding your addiction....I'm about 2 months ahead of you.....I've put a link about myself and a few other links I've found helpful in my signature...Be a student of this addiction, talk to your brothers and sisters, post roll and stay quit one day at a time, proud to quit with you today. It isn't pretty but in 3 days nicotine is out of your system then it's just a mind game, you can do it, keep talking to every one of your fellow quitters here on KTC...we might be strangers but we all quitting one day at a time

Moairgunner,

Welcome to the group. Once you get through the first three days, it starts to get better.

Here are some words of advice I like to share with all new quitters.

The main way to be successful is to just decide that you have quit. Once you stop the negotiating in your head as to whether you will do one more or not the rest becomes far more simple.

Next, you will learn to distract your attention from your desire for a dip to anything else that interests you. This ability to change your focus will guarantee your success and make your quit that much easier.

When you place a dip in your mouth, your brain releases sugars. Well, those sugars are now going to be gone.

However, you can replace them with OJ or other fruit juices with sugar. This will provide some comfort, especially in your initial quit days.

Make sure to exercise with weights and cardio when you feel that nagging tension in your muscles, you feel that rage, when you can not sleep and when you cannot focus. Exercise really helps.

Here is one that most people overlook. Get at least 3 square meals a day. Hunger can really bring on those urges so squash those urges before they come. Eat full healthy meals and do not let yourself get excessively hungry. You will see this helps a great deal.

I waited until I was 59 quit after using tobacco for 40 years. You are wise to quit now.

I quit with you today.

Welcome to the group MO. Sign roll early and often, as in every day and post your promise to stay nic free. Rinse and repeat next day.

So just about through Day 2. I apologize to those who do not want to read a daily journal/log but poking around the site, it seems to be a good way to stay focused on the quit and not the bitch. Today was not too horrible. Some short temper feelings and a bit of fog/distraction but not terrible. Woke up this morning not out of breath/heart racing so that is a positive. Tomorrow will be better than today and the next day will be better tomorrow but today is the goal and tomorrow is the dream. Thanks for letting me vent/rap to no one in particular.
