Title: Day 23...
Post by: ndmellen on July 22, 2017, 11:45:00 AM
First time I've actually posted here, but I've been tagging in for a while...This site has helped me, a lot: 35 years old, twelve years of Grizzly at a can+ a day...I'm at day 23, and I've been doing well...until this morning. This morning I'm hurting...I want it bad. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to do it...but the craving is heavy....Ultimately, I could just use some chat and feedback...my fam doesn't understand the need, and my friends still dip...

ndmellen, that's what we're here for.

First step for you: get on over to the October quit group (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/30273248) and post roll. You've been hanging around here for a while, so you probably know how that works, but just in case you need help, there's a video that covers Posting Roll on KTC Kill the Can (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmDgTPJ6HyM).

Posting roll is the price of admission. As you're figuring out, more than anything, you need to connect with other quitters who understand what you are going through. We'll get to know you, help you through the rough times, and help you keep your promise to us and to yourself to stay quit, one day at a time... but you HAVE to get plugged in to a quit group to make that happen.

Jump on in, man. The water's fine, and over three weeks by yourself is fantastic. Any group would be glad to have your dedication and insight. Post roll and quit with us today.

I never understood the notion that tagging along is a great way to quit. It's definitely one way to go but I bet the odds aren't as good as if you dove right in. If you're dipping a timid toe into the fight against the cold dark depths of an addiction that might kill you, you're probably not going to be successful. By not participating in a group, you remove the aspect of accountability and brotherhood that is different from other methods and proven successful. You're looking for support without offering any. Needy, there's not much time. Get in or get out.

NDMELLEN - we all have our different ways here. Have you joined a group? How is the quit going? We would love to hear from you. Check in and let us know how you are doing. If you can make it to day 23, then you sure as hell can stay quit forever. You have already made if through the first 3 days which are the hardest.

It is much easier if you join a quit group and post roll call daily.

I quit with you today.

PM and I will share my digits with you for support.
