Title: Day 2
Post by: wozman on July 16, 2013, 09:57:00 AM
This quitting sucks. I am a 42 year old civil engineer, father of 3 young boys. I am basically unable to function at work, hiding from my boss and ducking work. The haze is so bad I am having a hard time even typing this post. What a whiner and pissy baby I must sound like. Bit my wifes head off last night and avoided my kids. Father of the year! Not sure how I am going to get through coaching little league practice tonight without making an ass of myself. ahhhhh!

Hey man, here is the one thing I want you to hear right now! I HAVE BEEN IN YOUR SHOES! Listen to the guys on this site, in fact we have all been in your shoes. We know what you are feeling, seeing, thinking, experiencing. You are right in the fog. This is your body's reaction to your quit. It sucks, but it does get better - trust us.

The amazing thing about my quit is that the fog you are experiencing is the WORST part of it. But it fades away over time. Some folks experience this for just a few days, mine lasted quite a while longer - about a month.

PM me if you need to. Get on here and bitch, whine, complain. Write down in your intro what you are experiencing. Then, keep on quitting. In no time, you will be 50 days in and feeling like a champ!

Hang in there. Keep yourself busy. Just embrace the fog for what it is. I like to explain it like this: It is one long kick in the balls. The point is, just suck it up because it goes away. And, I hope that you never forget what it feels like because hey, do you want to get kicked in the balls?

I am here with you. I am 60 some days into my quit. Like I said, I have been in your shoes and I am right here with you. If I can do this, you sure as hell can too. I am proud to quit with you.

It will get better, I promise. 3 tough days and it will get better each day. Man up, embrace the suck. 1 day at a time. Post your pledge each day not to use and stick to it.

Be honest with yourself and your family. Tell them what you are going through, it will strengthen your resolve and maybe cut you a little slack at home.

You'll make it the same way we all made it...one second, one minute, one day at a time.

DON'T be taking you anger out on your wife, kids, or little leaguers.

They had nothing to do with you addiction and should feel NO brunt of your pain.

You get pissed, want to rip someones head of...go for a run, or go to the gym and pump some iron.

Want to tell someone to Fuck off and eat a goats dick....come here and tell me. I can take it.

Great choice, Woz!!! No way to sugar coat it...3 Days in is a bitch. But, when you find you're in Hell, the only thing to do is keep going. (I butchered that quote)

Things WILL get better. The fog WILL lift. Keep a good attitude...quitting is a privilege reserved to those who have the guts to do it. You GET TO feel this shitty because you CHOSE to be free. There are no short-cuts, and nobody can do this for you. But you took the first step...we've got your back the rest of the way.

YOU CAN DO THIS, BROTHER!!!

Best way to look at this quit is as a privilege! We have the gift of life today, to wake up and live free. I recently adopted this mentality and see this quit as a gift and I can tell you it makes it easier to walk through this struggle when you see it as a privilege!

Most likely no one else will notice your fog and your former strong character will pull you along. Agree with keeping a low profile, don't initiate any major projects right just yet. Congratulations on a good decision and there was never a better time to do this than when you did!

Don't sound like a whiner to me. Sound like a man taking his life back. Sound like you're doing what it takes to break free from one of the most addictive drugs known to man.

For your sake, I hope its the most memorable 72 hours of your life. That way when the poison comes knocking again you'll put a bolt lock on the door. Hell I've put up a new steel door with bolt locks all the way up and down each side. Then i put 5 pit bulls (ktc brothers and sisters) on the inside. If the poison even wiggles one of them hinges them pit bulls start growling.

Screw the poison,,, I quit with you today.

Hey man... Just posted roll for day 24 today. I can tell u that it feels damn good do be at day 24. On my 3rd day I was an absolute closet case and I could not function at work at all. I had to change my mindset. U need to realize that this quit needs to be your top priority right now. You need to stay focused on kicking this poison to the curb. Everything else but your health needs to take a backseat. You need to be "all in" on this quit and right now. Also, focus on staying quit today only and do whatever u need to in order to stay clean today. Don't get wrapped around what is gonna happen tomorrow, next week etc. You control today. You can push thru this! It is worth it!

Made it thru day 3, still in a fog. Posting on the roll call now. This is a tough nut to crack, could not sleep last night. Hopefully the exhaustion will put me to sleep tonight and wake up a little better tomorrow.

You got this buddy. Some of the worst is already behind you. Savor these days/feeling because they are the price of freedom. Learn to recall these days and use them to develop your hatred of this addiction. Congratulations on another day of freedom. I quit with you today!

Wozman this is a beautiful thing. I'm still a newbie but having just gone through all this I can appreciate the pain and fog you're going through now. Good news is that you're about to turn a quick corner and find yourself on the other side of week 1, and it's going to feel pretty damn good. You've got this. Keep fighting.

Oh, and you're almost through that DEEP fog where you can't focus. One of the next few days you'll realize that you can read and comprehend sentences again. Youre. Right. There. Stay strong brother. PM me your number if you need anyone to hound you.

^^^^ woz, this is good stuff. The fog is your friend believe it or not. You owe it to yourself to burn as much into your memory as you can. Jayhawk and I were on the extreme end from what I've seen in here. Everytime I think about nicotine taking my life away during the fog, I wanna grab those teenage punks at the gas station buying their cool chew and beat their asses. What nicotine did to me, to jayhawk, and now to you... Turning you into kind of a robot for a while (a mean, unaware, confused one)... Man that just isn't right. Look at how nicotine is making you treat your family. Makes me furious! So, long story short, unlike the kind and nurturing words you've received - worktowin is glad you are in the fog like this! You are one if the lucky ones! Enjoy, because when you do the trip right, you'll never do it again.

What is Wozman doing jlud007?

FI  I both saw him here earlier then we both PM'd him and he left without responding to us or posting roll then he texts you to post for him?
If he's good then I'm good with his methods if it works, but it smells funny.
PEEEEWWWWWW! 'fart'

I hope he is good but this kind of shit really......... 'bang head' 'bang head' 'bang head' 'bang head' 'bang head' 'bang head' 'bang head' 'bang head'

How in the heck can I trust his word when he is logged in and then skips posting and responding to his fellow DUCKS' pm's? I can't honestly say I trust his word. I hope I am wrong for his sake but something doesn't seem right. Even if he is still quit it is 'B.S.' when he was logged in.

Can you explain this for us Wozman?
Wozman told me he was having trouble trying to post roll on his Android phone that day. I am still trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. He definitely needs to step up his roll posting accountability however. He has missed a lot of days and too many excuses for not posting every day!

I hope he can get his quit up to par soon, I am still quit with him today.

Congrats Woz. I am proud to be getting on the HOF train with you, I just hope you are not going to wear that hideous Notre Dame looking throw back jersey.

Keep it up brother!
