Title: Day 1 In The Books
Post by: jdferguson07 on February 11, 2010, 03:58:00 AM
Whats up guys and girls?

I have finished my first day of no dip, and I am about go to sleep. I just stumbled across this website while researching a little help on kicking the can. I'm a 23 year old guy from Atlanta GA, and I have been dipping 3/4 to a full can a day of Griz for the last 6 years.

Today has been really shitty, to say the least. I have had so many different triggers throughout the day, like a 2 hour long car drive. Anybody who has been addicted to dip knows how quickly you can go through a can on a long drive. But I didn't succumb to the temptation. And I won't succumb tomorrow.

My main reason for quitting is because this shit is tearing my mouth up, and I have only been dipping for 6 years. I can't imagine what another 6 years would do to my mouth. I am sitting here craving something that has made my mouth painfully raw, my teeth yellow, and my gums recede from my teeth.... Am I a fucking idiot?

Starting up day 2 without nicotine. I got 2 hours of sleep last night. Just layed in bed tossing and turning, waiting to go to sleep. I have had a booming headache since I woke up. But I will not dip today Brothers.

Damn, sounds a lot like me. I too have been dipping Grizzly for the past six years. Glad you're here man, I'm only on day 5 but already I'm feeling better. Just keep telling yourself no and before you know it you'll be through with a day and ready for the next.

hang in there dude. day by day. You can do it.

When you get that craving....... just take a look at everyone around you, whoever it may be, even if it is a stranger. Whether sitting at the computer or shopping or whatnot, take a good look at them.

Take notice...... do they have a dip in their mouth? How in the hell can they sit there at the computer or drive a car without enjoying a fat chew?

Then ask yourself why you need it to function or enjoy your life. Answer is you don't.

You've been had dude. You've been had by yourself and the tobacco companies. Every day you take another dip you screw yourself over. You only have one life, take control of it before its gone.

17 days for me after 20 straight years of dipping copenhagen. I will never touch the shit again. If I can do it you can too.

Hang in there man.

Congratulations. And to think that I could have been smart like you and quit at 23, instead of 18 years later.

Having the sense and stamina to quit at age 23 is quite an accomplishment.
