Title: Cutting my own cinch
Post by: Ikemerrill on November 02, 2014, 09:48:00 PM
Hi all, new to the site but old to the addiction. I found this site on a web search and it made my day. I registered a couple of hours ago I guess I figured out how to post. I have tried several crutches in an aid to stop but always went back to the can. As I have read in several threads there is only one reason I searched for this site and it is to quit. It is time. I am anxious to start a new chapter in my life. Let r Buck 'sos2'

Welcome bro!! You've figured out how to post in your intro, but the true cornerstone of KTC is posting in roll. That's your promise to yourself and everyone here that you are quit.

Click here for instructions (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/1003072/1/#new)

You need to head on over to February and post roll. Do that every day, without fail and we'll support you without question! For now, you have my support ... but get on roll and honor your promise!!

After reading how to post roll:

Welcome Ike, glad you found us! Just remember, this is a NO nicotine site so no "crutches"

Jump in with both feet, learn how to post roll, meet your brothers in February 15, and it could very well save your life.

If you need anything or have any questions, please feel free to shoot me a PM.

You are in the right place. Listen to the veterans and take your quit one day at a time. Like Smeds said, posting roll is the cornerstone of KTC. Learn to do it right and do it everyday...don't miss a beat. Use the PM or email feature to request phone numbers from other members of your quit group and from the veterans. You'll need these numbers if you need to talk to anyone when you have a craving or cannot access the site. Don't be afraid of giving your number out because we are largely just like you and won't send you spam or junk. If you need immediate assistance, fire up the Live Chat. We are all here to help because we all started in the same place and know what you're going through.

Welcome, Ike.
To post roll find the most current page, quote it, place your cursor in the bottom box with the text, ctrl-A, ctrl-X, move cursor to top box, ctrl-V, add your name and day count to the bottom of the list of bad ass quitters.
You'll get it. The only way to really fuck up roll is to not be on it. Let me know if you need any help.
Read all you can as knowledge is your secret weapon against the nic whore.
Quit with you today.

Awesome! I like when you said, "I am anxious to start a new chapter in my life." That right there is exactly what KTC will do for you too. It has for me and countless others here. Go read some HOF speeches, and you'll see what I mean. You can do this friend. I dipped for 23 years, and I'm quit for almost 140 days now. Was it hard getting started? Oh yes, but I had some motivation outside of just wanted to quit. Honestly though, this site, and my quit group made the whole beginning part much more manageable. I'm never going to be completely cured of this addiction, but I know that there is support here, and they have my back and I have there's. So, you want success? Follow this:

1. Post roll every day without fail. Do it first thing, and do it every day. It is the most important part of KTC, and you must use this tool. You have to ask yourself is coming here everyday for like 2 minutes going to be something you can commit too? I can tell you that there are those that stopped posting roll after having quit for 500 days, and they are right back to the poison. Can you commit to such a simple task? Don't have internet access? See rule 2

2. Get some digits of quitters in your group. I suggest the person above and the person below you in your quit group spreadsheet. Just pm them. It's very important. Out drinking a few with some buds watching the game, and you decide you'd like to sling just one in, but you know you shouldn't. Call or text them. They will talk you down, and you will do the same for them.

KTC is awesome man! It will change your life, but you have to use the tools that are here, and you have to be a part of your quit group, and commit to literally 2 minutes (maybe even less) per day. Can you do that? I bet you can. I look forward to seeing you in the HoF!

Ike - Seen you post in Feb. First days suck so that's badass. Keep it going bro.

Key item: Get digits. Even better be a party of a text group. You will not regret.

Ike, I'm glad to have kept reading through your thread to see that you posted roll. As it was earlier stated, Roll (i.e. your promise, your word), is the foundation of quitting.

The following is purely a highlight I wanted to point out; please don't take this as my interpretation of how you think or are thinking right now, this is purely for illustration of a point. See that quote I extracted from your intro...it was so perfectly stated. When you use a crutch you only try to stop. Crutches, trying, and stopping - does that sound like something a quitter says? The answer is No. Now that you're posting roll, and making that promise, you are quitting. Quitters quit, we don't try we do, and we do it with no crutch or band aid. We build quits, and we build them from creating stones or pillars of accountability. Become involved, build relationships and friends here. This is your foundation of quit. Keep posting roll to build that accountability. This, my friend, is what we call the kool-aid. Drink up.

Hey I noticed on the 4th and 5th you posted day 3. Use the SSOA and the day tracker on KTC dot org so you don't screw yourself out of days while wading through the suck and the fog. I'm five days away from HOF. It wasn't easy getting to this point but KTC made it possible. If you need digits please PM me so that may exchange numbers. The Nic bitch is a wiley slut and will do things to your head to make you sacrifice your life to have her. The armor and firepower we use to fight her off is brotherhood and accountability so fill your magazines with as many contacts as possible because the Nic bitch is a powerful foe.

I was putting my underwear backwards around day 4, so don't freak out. This shit can be tough.

You're doing great, my friend. Keep it up, and I quit with you today.
