Title: I guess it's that time
Post by: txclaybreaker on July 30, 2013, 10:02:00 AM
Where to start well I am currently on Day #5 and I need some sort of outlet as I am feeling quite irritable this morning haha so this is it.

Basically I have been dipping since I was 15 or 16, (I'm now 25)started in welding class in high school and have been dipping/smoking off and on ever since, but mainly dipping, and basically for the past few years if I was awake I was dipping, literally from the time I brushed my teeth in the morning to the time I brushed them at night I had a dip in.

I have tried to quit cold turkey a few times and never succedded more than a couple days, this time I decided to do it right and be prepared to head off the oral fixation and while searching for alternatives I stumbled across this site, and boy I am glad I did, was genuinely amazed to find such a community. Was going to wait until I received in my hooch sampler pack to start my quit but received a PM from Keddy that made me decide otherwise.

Why did I decide to quit, basically just got tired of it, got tired of having a craving choose what I was going to do and when I was going to do it.

So in summary, I now feel much less irritable since I have typed this and a few things I have learned so far is I cant shoot my shotgun with sunflower seeds in my mouth, and that not having a dip in doesnt affect my gun mount negatively haha (I shoot sporting clays alot) 'Remshot'

Thanks for everyones support,

Nice intro, TX.

If you can quit four days, you can quit five . . . .
If you need anything just shout.
I'm proud of you, brother; it takes balls to quit!!

Tx,
Sounds to me like you are laying down the foundation for a quit. You have good stuff in your intro looked for flaws didnt see anything too alarming what I did pick up on is you said the right thing as to why you are quit. You said "I" that is a correct statement the quit has to be for YOU no other reason...cant quit for the wife, your girlfriend the dog what have you it has to be for you. The others are motivators but the problem with motivation or a sunshine pump being inserted in to your rectum is that it is short lived. The only constant is "you" of the equation is you so therefore you is the only reason you can quit for.

Glad you are here PM me if you need anything.

Txclaybreaker, welcome to the clan. There are several of us here that love to shoot both guns and from the mouth. However, know that there is a bunch of useful information here for you to use and be successful in your QUIT.

Quitting is all about accountability and forcing yourself to be the badass you can be.

I will be happy to quit with you any day. Learn to post roll daily and pledge your promise to all of us that you QUIT.

Hey TX, and welcome.

I'm new to sporting clays and just wrapped up my first season. The gun club we go to quickly turned into one of my chewing havens... I quit chewing in the 8th week of the clay season and not chewing during sporting clays was one of my first big tests.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I really DO love sporting clays and it wasn't only a reason to chew in peace. I'm hooked!

Anyway, how are things going today?

Doing good today, all is well. That's one of the things I was most worried about myself, partially because it had been said a few times when I wasnt dipping, that being without one was affecting my ability to shoot and my gun mount and such. So it had been programmed a bit in my head that I couldn't shoot well without a dip in my head. Thankfully that is false. Will prove it even further in a tournament this weekend. If you ever have any questions about sporting clays or just wanna chew the fat let me know Minny :D

Dude, Welcome to the ride of your life! You can "be quit" for good....ODAAT just like all of us here.
Follow the advice given..to the letter...don't think there is a "shortcut" to being quit. This koolaid works wonders and I wouldn't drink anything else...
I am on my first and last quit of 433 days after dipping for 30 yrs 24/7.....Thanks to KTC and the brotherhood.
You found the place now learn the tools...your life depends on it, ya know.
Wait to long and you may regret it.
1 problem + nicotine = 2 problems.
Cheers and Welcome to the real world.
