Title: Day 1 Quit
Post by: mwbest on May 28, 2015, 11:31:00 AM
My name is Mike. I have used this crap for 31 years now. Stopped once for maybe 6 months. Other attempts have lasted 2 days to 2 weeks. This crap is going to kill me one day or end my marriage. Neither of which is Ok with me. I need help managing/beating this addiction. I am in the September 15 quit group I believe Thanks,

I am also in the September 15 group. Its pretty straightforward, just wake up and quit everyday. Make a promise to me that you won't use and I will promise you I won't either. Its not much fun at all but just knowing someone else is going to be having the same struggles you have is awesome. Plus there are some serious vets here that can get you through your roughest days.

Adalbritton, I promise not to use today. One day at a time. I know the next few days will be hell and not much better after that for awhile. I must beat this addiction. 100% in.

Mike, welcome aboard and congrats on making the best decision of your life. I like the attitude you have here about this quit. I also see you have posted roll. That is the foundation of this site. We post roll everyday and promise our brothers/sisters that we will quit for that 1 day. Then just repeat the next. Read everything you can on this site. Get to know your quit group and lean on them for support. Its going to get tough but it gets better I promise. There are also a lot of vets in different stages of quit posting their support in your group as well. Ask questions. We are all here to help.

Great job my friend. Remember this shits not easy! If it was wouldn't be here. I'm 152 day's quit, proud of every damn second! It is the most mentally challenging thing I've ever dealt with. Still struggling at times but not near as bad. Telling you this so you will dig in, you can do this, it's yours! Own it! Enjoy your freedom! I quit with you today my friend!

Congrats on a great choice, Mike!!! You're right...it will suck until it doesn't. But embrace the suck and turn the tables on the Nic Bitch. CHOOSE to see every withdrawal symptom as a reminder of your former life as a slave. FOCUS on your success. Each day free is cause for celebration. Acknowledge your success.

YOU GOT THIS!!!

Mike,

Just one change to your intro....you don't "manage" this...you BEAT it into submission. As an addict, you have to know you can never have "just one". That thought will doom you to failure straight out the gate. They call it KILL the can for good reason. That's what we're all here to do. It's going to suck for the first couple days, then suck for awhile longer from a mental standpoint. Just know that you're not alone. This is a fantastic support network. Use it as much as you need to stay quit.

Anthony, Mike: I'm in your Sept 15 group too. Today was my first quit day after 38 years of chew. We can do this! Mike if you can do it after 31 years, you give me hope I can do it after 38 years. Let's make it 100 days together.

Simply awesome seeing three new quitters come together in solidarity for each other. Y'all need to swap some digits and keep the brotherhood going.

As to your marriage piece, my wife and I recently matched funny dipping stories. What was funny was how many times she gave me best intentions when all I was doing was feeding my addiction (on an international trip, out of dip, but found patches and she thought I was trying to quit). Number one motivation in my quit is me, myself and I. But I gotta tell you, it feels great those random days that my wife says, "I'm proud that you've quit."

Welcome! I see you've started posting roll. You're well on your way to beating this thing. Rembmer you're not alone in this. All of KTC has done exactly what you're doing. It's hard, it sucks, and it's a battle, but you will beat it...forever!!! I'm quitting with you today!
