So I was talking to someone from AA which I think is an amazing program to stop alcoholism. I got in trouble with the law cause im only 20 (i dont drink and drive though which is what most of my peers are in the drug alcohol classes for) and got forced to go to classes community service random drug and alcohol tests as well as AA meetings. One more month till im off and i can drink again haha, but thats not my problem other than legally I quit it with ease 5 months sober no problem. I was talking about how quitting nicotine is so hard to one person in there and he recommended this site I been looking at it a couple days and figured id join.
I used to be a smoker and dipped occasionally and then used dip to quit smoking because I failed every time I tried cold turkey. Been dipping a can every 2 days now for about 3 months and im ready to be done with nicotine for good!
Man I hate nicotine addiction its crazy but I spit one out about 2 hours ago and I dont get a buzz anymore but for some reason it made me feel hot and sick to my stomach. And it was my last dip out the can so I thought what better time than now to quit? I have high hopes this time of quitting, ive only ever gotten to a month before once and 2 weeks 2 times and 3 days too many to count lol that crap pissed me off.
One question which quit group do I join may or june?

Welcome Slapout,
First of all there is no hope here, we quit. End of story.
Second read this (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13)
You will be posting roll with August. There are some badass quitters in there ready to welcome you in. This is based on when you would hit your 100 days which we call Hall of Fame.
You have an awesome opportunity here. Quit now and you will be the smartest 20 year old I know of. I can only wish that I quit at your age. Instead I used for another 19 years before I was smart enough to stop.
Quit with you today, we quit one day at a time around here. Get some numbers and get to know your fellow quitters, the support here is amazing if you use it.

Awesome. You will be in August. Go read all you can in the welcome center. We quit one day at a time here. Each morning we post roll, roll is our promise to our brothers that we will not use any form of nicotine at all all day. This will be pure hell for several days and then gets better. You can do it, it's a decision. Simple as that. I will quit with you.
Take vocabulary like try and hope Out of your thoughts and replace them with can and will.

Post your promise not to use nicotine of any kind first thing in the morning, keep that promise and then do it again the next day.
You get stuck, have some issues with craves or any questions at all. Ask us. We will help you.
Also, READ. It will help you immensely. Read everything possibe on this site.
Time to get your quit on, yo. (I may be 39 but I'm still hip)

This seems to indicate that you're not really taking this seriously. Quitting an addiction is not something that can be accomplished on a partial effort. It has taken exactly 100% of my willpower to get where I am today. I've been through some tough stuff and conquered some pretty decent obstacles, but this addiction has taken more grit than any of them. I hope you're taking it more seriously than you sound, and this was just a figure of speech, because most of us here take KTC (and anything else quit-related) very, very seriously. We're saving our lives daily, and want to help you do the same, but you have to keep your head in the game completely.
Glad to see you here. Wish I'd been smart enough to quit at your age. I would have saved myself lots of agony (and money) over the years.

Slapout,
Welcome to August Quit.
KTC is abstinence. Don't pick up the 1st one.
IN terms of AA and KTC KTC is not AA or anything like AA, other than the ODAAT thing.
Post in Roll Call of your quit day..
I am 27+ year sober in AA. But I don't post it here (anymore) out of respect for KTC.
PM me, I will quit with ya. and explain the diff.
Day 17

Great decision Slap. Commit yourself 100% to your quit, gotta be all in. Nice Day 2 posting.....
PM me anytime, if you need more numbers, lemme know. Quit withya....

I'm somewhat close to your age, and I also coach kids between the ages of 16 to 20 and place them into NCAA schools. Not judging, but going on past experiences, you have to be 100 percent fully committed. You must leave your normal group of friends, and hang outs for the next few weeks. If your weak minded your in trouble, your boys will call you everything under the sun and rib you until they try to get you to dip again. Misery loves company. If you truly want to quit, and remember you quit each day, everyone here is more then happy to help. Feel free to message me anytime, I will quit with you. I wish you luck, but don't fuck around here if your not all in.
