Started dipping in high school when I was playing baseball. Continued in college, then in the Army. Longest I've gone without dipping was three days. Am going to try going cold turkey again tomorrow, 02 JUN 2015. Would love to link up with some fellow military who've been able to quit and "stay quit".

You'll link up with tons of military people here, but more importantly you'll link up with an entire group! You will join a quit month. In your case that would September. Once you join, you will post roll every. Singe. Day.. That's the only way this program will work for you. Roll is the key to making your quit happen, and it's how this site works. Roll takes about 5 seconds every morning. So, if you're willing to commit to something so simple then welcome! If you think you don't have time, then you may want to look elsewhere. I hope you chose the former!!

ski hugger. Proud to quit with you. You need to want it. There is no "try" on this site. It's simple. Quit or Die. If you say yes, then this will be the last time you quit.
First things first. Scavenger hunt. Find every can, in every hiding place and at every location in your life, then flush it. Do not leave any dip in the can, down the drain it goes. And why wait for tomorrow. Do it now.
If you don't pussy out, you'll be joining our September Samurai 2015 Quit Group. We have a really strong group of Bad Ass Quitters and we are ALL going to make it together.
Private Message (PM) any of us in the group if you start to feel challenged. Also, lots of other quitters who have been doing this much longer than me will help you out too. Don't hesitate to lean on them.
In the meantime, surf the site, read up on symptoms, personal stories, etc. This site doesn't cost you a penny, but it's not free. Your cost is:
1. As soon as you wake up every morning, you must post roll call - which is your commitment to yourself, me and your fellow Samurai that you will not put nicotine in your system that day
2. Honor your promise and make your Quit rock solid all day.
3. Wake up the next day and repeat.
Simple, right? :) Talk to you soon and be strong.

^^^ that solid advice right there, I cannot offer too much more, other than this site works but you have to use it.

I'm a newbie on this site also, but I'm 125 days clean after over 30 years. 1.5 cans a day for much of that. I quit cold turkey and I'm a much weaker disciplined man than nearly any military man I've ever known. If I can do it, you can do it. The first couple weeks have some physical consequences, but really it's more psychological than anything. It feels like abandoning an old friend. But, it's not your friend, it's the devil whispering in your ear. You can do it!

skihugger,
I just retired after nearly 32 years. I also dipped damn near the entirety of those 32 years, finally extracting my head out of my ass about a year ago (for the second time), save for a brief stoppage in 94-95. The ball is in your court, bubba. You gonna sack up and post a day one or what?
