Title: Day 1
Post by: Joebot on February 17, 2018, 02:32:00 PM
Hi guys and gals!

My name is Joe and iv'e been a dipper since I started playing baseball for big travel organizations at age 14. Just the make the next few sentenced clear I'm not blaming anyone else for my addiction, because it is my decision every time I put a dip in my mouth, but I just want to tell my story.

It all started when I had an overnight flight to Georgia for a tournament and had to pitch two hours after getting off my fliht. My coach saw I was dead tired and had me throw one in. I felt like I could do anything with that buzz going in my head, and dip soon became something I would do to perform at inopportune times. Since then iv'e been hooked for the past four years. My family didnt think anything of it, they all dip. But this past year my grandpa died of cancer and I want to make a change in my life. I dont want to go the same way.

I tries to quit last month, made it two weeks, but have relapsed. I found this site today and I figure right now is as good a time as any to try again. Any tips on gritting through the withdrawal would be very helpful. I feel as if I am more addicted to the actual act of dipping than the nic itself, so anything on that would be amazing.

Proud to say that Today will be the day I go from a can a day to clean.

Thanks for any words of wisdom yall have and God bless!

-Joe

Drink a lot of water to flush the nicotine. Some guys use fake dip, I used sugar free gum. You can find fake at Walmart or online.

Ultimately you need to embrace the suck and refuse to cave.

Join the May quit group. Learn how to post roll. ThatÂ’s the price of admission, and the backbone of the site.

Hey Joe,

What RDB said about drinking water is huge. You should keep a gallon of it with you at all times and just keep chugging it. Also, the support that you get from joining your quit group is really where its at. If I did not have the guys in my group, I would still be dipping today. I am now 32 days quit. Every morning I wake up and post roll in my group. Posting roll is your promise to not use nicotine for that day. We work on a On Day At A Time (ODAAT) philosophy here.

Everyone can make it for one day without nicotine. Then you come back the next day and repeat. If you need help during the day, you have the resources on this site, plus you should get phone numbers of some of the people in your group and give them your number, that way if you need it, you can call or text any of them for support and they you. Just an added layer of accountability.

You would be in the May 2018 group. Follow this link and follow the instructions at the top of the page to post roll : topic/30471996/329/#new (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/30471996/329/#new)

Welcome to KTC. Proud to quit with you today
