Title: Day 1
Post by: cgrant21 on June 03, 2013, 04:03:00 PM
23 Year old that has been on the tin since 15. After seeing how much time and money i spend on chew its time to stop. Im ready to be healthy and happy again. Longest previous quit attempt was 12 days so im ready to beat that by a mile. Bought some smokey mountain and seeds to take my mind off the oral fixation. Just here to look for some guidance and hopefully brotherhood with fellow quitters. Preferably someone else who is also on their first week of quit. I know ill need to lean on someone and it would make me proud to help someone else that needs someone to lean on.

Today is the first day and Im ready to kick the tin's ass.

i'll tell you what everyone else is going to say...one day at a time...post roll every day (i've been guilty of missing twice in 27 days and it wasn't pretty). Anyhow, you can do this...i wish i could go back to 23 and throw the shit out!

Oh and read all you can....all the stories and threads and hall of fame speeches etc. etc. Quit on brother

Welcome Chase, and good idea on the Brotherhood part. But don't limit yourself to just fellow September 2013 quitters, if you're posting roll you'll have around 16K quitters standing behind you willing to do whatever it takes to keep you quit.

Send out PMs to guys in your group, offer your number and I bet you'll get one in return. Send out a PM to someone from another group that you related to, who posted something that you enjoyed or made you think, or strengthened your quit. Go check out some of the forums in the Wilcard section, you may find someone with similar interests.

Text often just for the hell of it. Say, "I'm quit today. How you you?" Break that ice and start getting to know some guys on a personal level; old and new. This way when you need help, and you will at some point, reaching out is a natural thing.

If you want to quit you'll be spending a lot of time here reading. May as well try to get comfortable and have a little fun. If you need a number or anything else just let me know.

Head on over the September HOF group (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=8274) and you'll find some guys suffering right along with you.

Post roll there. That's your promise to us that you're nic-free for 24 hours.
Then keep your word.

Swap numbers with some of the folks over there and get to know your peers.

Congrats!!! You've gotten great advice so far. There's no pecking order. It doesn't matter how long you used nic or how long you've been quit. The only thing that matters is that you are fighting to control your addiction ONE DAY AT A TIME. We're all in this together, brother. PM me if you need anything. Congrats!!!
