Title: Finally Puttin Down the Dip
Post by: leeron on November 28, 2011, 09:04:00 PM: Well today I found this site and I am thankfull that I did. I quit this morning at 11AM. It took me until now, 845PM to get the balls to post my promise (kept thinking I'd go get another can to have on last fix). I've read so many of the other posts on this website and I just decided that it has to be time. I am a nicotive addict.

I'm 44 years old and started when I was 15 (could have been earlier but it all runs together). My addition started with the Original Skoal (all they had was fine cut back then) and has included red man, cigars, and most recently I've been using Longhorn Wintergreen Long Cut. Hell, I'd change brands so my wife would stop seeing the same continuous charge on my debit card every other day. Damn, I'm a freakin junkie.

I am over living a lie and letting my actions be determined for me. I'm sick of staying up late for the qualiltiy dip time, letting my relationship suffer with my wife. It's time to hold myself accountable to me and my family.

One day at a time.

Kickin off Day 2! My first night sucked. It was a restless night but at least i did not break down and sneak out for a new can last night.

I agree, this is not an easy thing to do but it is a simple thing to do. Wake up promise us, and more importantly promise yourself you will not use nicotine, and then keep your word. I know you can do it, because you want your freedom and wanting is all it takes to get it.
I will quit with you all day today, you have my number use it if you need it.

My Quit Plan
February 15, 2012

1. I am an addict and I will NEVER be cured. I will not forget that.

2. I will Post Roll, Honor my word, Repeat. (daily and early)

3. Learn to recognize cravings and other quit symptoms (depression, rage, funk, etc.) by continuing to educate myself.

4. Tell all my friends and family about my addiction and my quit. I was a ninja dipper; I will not have a ninja quit.

5. Develop individual quit plans for trigger events such as: golf, hunting, fishing, out drinking a beer with the guys, etc. Plan ahead Â– be prepared.

6. Maintain an emergency supply of fake dip.

7. Continue to stay active on KTC; I am ACCOUNTABLE to me and YOU. Should I go missing I want someone to track my ass down.

8. Develop stronger relationships with my quit brothers so it will be easy to pick up the phone should I ever need to.

9. When I do get bad cravings and I feel like caving I will:
a. Remember My reasons for quitting
b. Remember The suck
c. Think of all the people I would be letting down, including myself
d. Call someone (IÂ’ve got a few brothers I have already spoken with)
e. Recall that I canÂ’t cave without calling Luby, Gator, Locki, and Sofgr.
I gave my word

10. Make and honor side deals with a couple of my March brothers (we promise to call before caving). I now have pacts with 4 quit brothers.

11. Pay it forward in order to help others and to strengthen my QUIT.

I know it's a little over the top complex but that's just how it is with me sometimes.
