Title: Hello
Post by: clintrussell on October 09, 2013, 07:00:00 PM
My name is Clint. I'm 32 years old and made the decision this morning on the way to work to quit. I've been chewing for 14 years and everyone around me at work chews.
(I work in agriculture). Quit once before for 3 weeks. This time I quit for GOOD! Tired of being a slave to the can!

My biggest issue is not physically having the chew in. Feel naked without it. Anyone tried Smokey Mountain Straight? Need something to get me through

If you read through the other intro's you may see some of my same words on them but they always hold true so I will just repeat them...

You are in for one nasty fight but you have the tools here to make it.

Read everything on here, post roll call each morning and don't dip. Wow....that sounds so easy, doesn't it?

Go load yourself up with gum, mints, fake chew, seeds and beef jerky. Also get some member phone numbers right now, they will help you through the rough parts.

Next, exercise to exhaustion every single day and drink so much water that you feel like you may bust. Both of these will help.

Make sure your wife reads about what you are going through. 99% chance that you are going to be a short fussed dick for the next 3-4 weeks. Try not to take it out on her and the kids. Get on here and take it out on us, we will be fine.

I went through 4 cans of Smokey Mountain, it was OK but after the fourth can, I didn't need anything in my mouth.

I quit with you.

Good work on making the first right choice with many more important decision to come. A couple things:

1. You never QUIT before it was a stoppage. Quitting is a whole new mind set, but an easy one. You don't use nicotine anymore at least for the day, and never will again.

2. Nothing will replace the nicotine and that my friend is what your body wants. It does not want something in your mouth or we would all be a little GHEY. But do whatever you need to keep the shit out of your pie hole. Seeds, gum, toothpicks, hard candy, fake chew. Workout, drink a lot of water to flush the shit out, clean out anything that has to do with nicotine from your home or vehicles.

3.POST ROLL, get involved in the site.

4. You can do this and I promise it will be the best decision you will ever make....Is it easy? NO, but each day you will feel better and better until one day you are bad ass like myself

At day 51 that's still an issue for me. Enjoy trying out all the different fake alternatives! There's lots of good choices, just have to find one that works best for you. Congrats on your decision!

Feel naked without it

I remember this feeling. It's an eye opener when you reach for that can and it's not there. Then you think, damn, i'm not going to replace that can?!?!?! It's gone. Never again for any reason. REALITY!!!!

It will take some time for this reality to sink in to your mind. Quitting comes from deep. From this time forward reach deep and tell your mind how it's going to be. Quit with you today. You need another number let me know.

Welcome Clint!
It's always great to see another addict taking his life back.
Lots of perfect advice already given.
Remember, we were not born with the poison in our mouths!
Quit on sir! 'bang head'

Yes sir. I remember several days deep in the woods, on my mountain bike. I would pull over for a break, reach in my pocket and it would be empty. I would get a sick, empty feeling, deep in my gut and feel really like I was going to panic.

I'm glad to say that that feeling is gone. Sure, I still have a lot of difficult times but day 81 is 99% better than day 3.

What I am trying to get at is; it may seem like you are dying forever but really it's only a few really nasty weeks and then you will start coming back alive.

Listen to these guys^^^ they speak truth! I used back-off fake dip for the first few weeks of my quit, and then switched mainly to sunflower seeds for the next few months; now I mostly chew gum to scratch the oral fixation itch but it goes away. Hell right now anything that doesn't have nicotine in it and helps you through is fair game, but the empty naked feelings will eventually diminish and go away. Just focus on one day at a time (or hour, minute, second when needed), and keep +1ing. You will find yourself in a great place before you know it.

Wow! Lots of great advice. I REALLY appreciate it. I went with Smoky Mountain and it's helping. I feel like now I've made it after 3 days. Easy money from here on out. I'm never going back to that $hit.

It's funny....I kind of stumbled on to quitting. I was driving to work. I always put a dip in for my first cup of joe. I wondered if I could make it for 1 hour so I just tried. Then I tried for another hour and made it to lunch and figured, what the hell, might as well keep it going!

I knew I would need support so thank GOD for all of you and this website!

First of all, congratulations on 3 days. That is a huge accomplishment. One I never managed until I quit for real and wound up here.

Yes, Schwarts speaks truth. The nic may be gone from your system by tomorrow, but the bitch doesn't leave that easily. You created her with years of dipping, and it is going to take some time for your brain to rewire itself to a non-nic CPU.
THe good news is that you are quit, and you only need to get through one day. Then, do it again.

Enjoy you quit, take pride in each craving fought and PM if you need another number.

Weekend coming up, keep your head on straight. See you at roll call in the AM

Hell of a job making it to 3 days Clint. I use the smokey mountain like a lot of other guys here. I chewed Copenhagen for 19 years and NOTHING tastes like cope. I have found that the SM straight flavor does the trick. Like what everybody else has said, whatever it takes to make you nic free.

I'm in your quit group and I'm 13 days into my quit. Check your inbox for my number
