I've dipped pouches for just a bit over 4 years. I guess I feel kind of lucky I've only been doing it for a short time (compared to some here), but honestly, I don't look at it that way. Will my two children feel lucky when they don't have a father?
I've had enough. Enough bottles and cans all over, enough hiding stuff at work so I can continue to use it.
I've started to have a lump in my throat when I swallow lately and of course, it scares me. I know that fear will only take me so far, but I've just had enough. I don't want to give excuses, I just want to stop, and I'll be damned if I give up.
I threw out a 1/2 can this morning just before lunch. I'm about 3 hours in and going strong...

Congrats on a great choice. Click on the Welcome Center link at the top and read everything you can. Learn how to post roll. That is the key. You're in the September Quit Group.
Read the Hall of Fame Speeches, read the Tom and Jenny Kern Story (at the Killthecan.org link above). Doesn't matter how long you've been using. Doesn't matter if it was pouches, long cut or whatever.. YOU are an addict. Now, you get to join us and fight it one day at a time and live free!!!
If you need help, just ask. Great decision, brother!!!

If you have the balls to own up to your addiction and introduce yourself then you have the intelligence and motivation to stay quit. Welcome, im in the sept group also. Listen to these guys and write shit down and put it in your pocket if you need to read a story or advice if you are away from the computer. These guys have helped me make it through my first few days without the bitch.
You will succeed.

Congrats
You will get alot of advice. Most of it good. Some of it shit. The basic thing is this:
Post roll
Quit today
Repeat Tomorrow
This shit is easy but it is the hardest thing you will ever do. You only have to do it one day at a time.

Welcome JTull,
Good to see you're posting early in the a.m. That is KEY. Making the promise early, gettin' it out of the way is smart.
Don't you worry about that lump in your throat, it ain't nuttin' to be concerned about.
Just stay quit, stay focused, stay true to your quit, fight hard, quit hard, quit like fuck QLF, drink water, piss alot, chew gum, eat seeds, use toothpicks, candy, life savers (wintergreen are best), scream, kick, exercise, whatever it takes for you to get to bed tonight and start all over in the early a.m......it will get easier, I promise. 1st week is a living fucking HELL!
The beauty of quitting this way is: we only have to quit today, one day, you can do anything for ONE DAY! We'll do tomorrow when it comes.
Cheers!
Proud to be quit with a ROCK STAR of QUIT like YOU!!

Great Job jtull, I'll share what my mentor told me on day1, "Hell son, LIFE is a TRIGGER!" Roll that one around in your noggin.
We are evolving into what we were meant to be....we didn't sign up to be addicted, but we are addicts, we didn't sign up to get cancer, but used a cancer causing drug.
NOW is what is important...as chewie always says, "It's a fucking choice/decision everyday, every moment in everything we do. Whether it is going to work, doing nicotine or exercising. It's our power of choice that makes up able to kick the nic bitch in the teeth everyday, one day at a time, one mow at a time, one shower at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time, one drive to the store at a time, in all of the TRIGGERS that life throws at us, we will CHOOSE "QUIT"!
I am proud to be quit with YOU and all of SEPT '12!!!
YOU are a ROCK STAR OF QUIT!!!!
