The fog....
It is complete bullshit what nicotine did to our brains. It deprives you brain of oxygen... Then you wuit and this big tidal wave of oxygen confuses your brain and the fog sits in. What you are doing is great... Post these memories in the intro thread so that you can look back and remember what nicotine took from you, and what you reclaimed.
Congratulations on the quit. 8 days is gees one. One day at a time freedom is yours. And you will never relive the fog! One the skies clear, you are really gonna like the new you.
-
Congrats on 8 days...but that is just the beginning of great things to come. Turn the tables on the Nic Bitch...your attitude is everything. The fog is the feeling of healing. You should be pumped about the fog. It is a privilege for folk who have the guts to quit. You GET to feel like shit because you made the CHOICE to save your life. That is huge, brother!
Post roll, read all you can and live free.

My first Post. I am 26 yrs old, Woke up yesterday morning and said enough is enough 11yrs the can has controlled me!!! I have 3 kids. Today is my 2nd full day without the can and nicotine. I have drank lots of water and powerade. My eating has been crazy seems like all i have done the last 48!!!! Any Advice???? Also, what can I expect day 3???
-
You posted roll so you are already ahead of the game. Early on there is very little advice that will make quitting less shitty. So early on dig down deep to whatever you can and try to gut through it. After day 5 or 6!it will get easier. Have plenty of oral suppression (gum, mints, fake dip, etc) with you at all times. You may find yourself eating too much or using fake dip as much as you used regular dip....don't worry about that right away. Right now your focus has to stay on quitting. Good luck.
-
you can expect to have all the nicotine out of your system day 3. First couple weeks suck, but you can do it. keep posting roll and get some digits for the days you need to rage.
-
Hey man im right there with you, just finishing up day 2. I used seeds, hard candy and gum all day long. And felt foggy for sure at times, couldn't concentrate on shit. But hey tomorrow we got to do the same shit we did today. Never give up
-
With ya Brotha. Glad you decided to quit now instead of waiting! Never give up.
-
It's a little bit different for everybody. Day three was better for me than day two but reminding myself over and over again, "no dip" started kicking my ass. That's where this site helps!!! I read every HOF Speech I could while drinking bottled waters, chewing gum, and fake dippin Smokey Mountain.. My head stayed clear of the fog, I forgot about wanting to dip and became motivated as hell to stay quit for another day. You WILL do this too!
-
I have a thought or two for you on what to expect on day three: if you post roll early, you will have already made the decision when the cravings hit. You will not succumb to your addition. I can't tell you how bad your pain on day 3,4,5 or any other day will be but I can tell you that it gradually gets better and if you continue to commit daily that eventually you will find that your daily commitment becomes natural. Remember that you are a addict and always will be but you don't have to be a slave to that addiction. From a four decade addict I can tell you that suffering through the short term pain that you feel now is nothing compared to the joy and satisfaction of that comes from quitting and the freedom that comes with it.
-
Thanks Guys!!! It's officially day 3, actually feel good this morning (will see how rest of day goes)! Happy Veterans Day!!!

Jdaley,
You have been given some damn good advice so far but I wanted to help give you more a glimpse of what is to come:
- Days 4-5 you will question your quit because of the wiring in your brain not being right from years of addiction; you do not need nicotine but you will question it. Post Roll early and collect phone numbers of other quitters just in case
- Days 10-15 you may start coasting, this shit is easy
- Days 15-25 be mindful of anger and rage, if you start to be an asshole take a deep breathe and walk away, no one but you is to blame for your addiction
- Days 25-30 damn starting to get it, hitting one month is fantastic
- Days 30-40 now what...oh yeah the HOF, never lose focus on each day individually
- Days 40-60 halfway to HOF, then hitting two months, excited and ready but don't become complacent
- Then about every 12-15 days in between you can affect some sort of emotional reclamation. You are becoming a new man, post roll early each day, reflect daily at the end of your day and prepare for another day
When you need help come here to KTC, use chat. Never ever rage against someone else, as it is not their fault it is your cross to bear. Forewarn friends and buddies that also dip that you are quit and if they choose to fuck with your quit you will dump out or piss in their tins.
Start to get active in your group and in the introductions area, it helps solidify your quit as you progress, also locate quitters in your area, meet them in person and make your quit that much more "real".
If you need a # to communicate with you are welcome to mine, it is helpful to talk to someone who walked the path or have that person who will post for you when you cannot. The minimum requirement to play here is posting roll, do more than the minimum though and the quit starts to become much more than just yours.
