Title: Hello all!
Post by: chuckmalarkey on December 03, 2014, 02:41:00 AM
Just wanted to say hi. Quit a 20 year (man when i say it like that....) addiction 12 hours and 13 minutes ago and couldn't be happier to have found this site! I'm ready. After a can a day habit of everything from skoal to grizzly to Kodiak, I saw myself in the mirror in the bathroom at work with spit on my chin and it hit me like a ton of bricks: what the hell have I been doing to myself for the last 20 years?! F×@# this!
Glad to have found a group of folks who have gone through and are going through what I'm about to.
Thank you all!

Welcome aboard Chuck. I would say good luck to you, quitting nicotine has NOTHING to do with luck. You have to be really deliberate in your efforts here. Read all you can and get to know the program. You must do 2 things today

1. Post roll
2. Do not use nicotine

Focus on today and worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

You can do this. You are not alone.

Welcome Chuck! One of the toughest things to understand about our addiction or any addiction for that matter, is its life long effect. Plan on fighting this daily until you don't have to. Behind these sacred walls are laid bare hundreds of thousands of collective days quit. We don't take it lightly and only ask that you reciprocate and not screw it up. The cost of your freedom is a promise.

Welcome Chuck! Best decision you ever made!

On a side note, I'm sorry you could never play The Name Game...

Don't hesitate to reach out if you need to.

Wow, thanks for the encouragement, I need it! I don't think I slept at all, then got pissed cos I couldn't sleep then drank a lot of coffee and a 5hr energy, went to the gym and ran 8 miles on the treadmill and realized one of my favorite times for a chew was after a good run. So now I'm pissed off, amped up, dead tired at the same time. But fuck it, I'm not giving in! 3 more hours till 1 full day!

That's the right attitude Chuck! Take it a minute at a time if you have to. Minute by minute, day by day. Three days to get rid of the nicotine in your body. Then its all mind games after that. Be stronger than a can of shit Brother. You can do this!

Remember tomorrow what an idiot you looked like with brown goo all over your stupid face.

You've had some bad ass quitters reach out to you. Click in their names and go to profile options... Member topics, then go to their intro. Read the first few posts. These bad asses went through the same bullshit as you. Then read their last post in their intro. Like a mirror image. Hell to heaven... This process, this journey, will change your life. One day at a time. Glad you joined us!!

Going as good as can be for day 3 I guess. Still feeling crappy but nowhere near as bad as the last 2 days. Woke up this morning KNOWING I'm going to win this! Can't wait for 100 days but focused on the next hour for the next 24.

You are right on track Chuck. Congratulations on another day. Post roll early each day and honor your word. Get to know some people, it helps a lot. Jump in Live chat if you haven't tried it yet. Seeds, gum, candy, coffee grounds, whatever it takes man. Just keep that nicotine out of your piehole and things will get better. WARNING: Day 4 is a bitch..... BE READY!!

Great job, CM! Keep it up. In a few days it gets a bit better, day by day. I am just 11 days ahead of you, so I remember well. Embrace the misery, but enjoy the freedom. In a few days food will begin to taste better. Even mint gum will be more intense.

My bad. Last minute ski trip, left last night, all day with no service. Doing great! Before today, I'd have thought it impossible to ski without a dip in. Couple small craves but straight as shit no cave!!!!!

So kind of funny story... driving home from work this evening when the worst crave I've had so far hits. Put in a smokey mountain and nothing... I am more pissed off than I've ever been! A kid crosses the street at a light and I want to get out and bear his ass. Pull off the road into the parking lot of the second hand store (if I don't get out of that truck I'm probably going to jail). Walk into the store and see a heavy punching bag sitting there for $8. Today is my 6th day so I've already saved like $25. Bought the bag and a $4 Louisville slugger wood bat. 5 hours later, I'm tired as hell, sweating like a pig with a pulled muscle in my back and convinced this quit was made to be and so is yours!!!!!!!!!!

that is hilarious Chuck. That just made my day.I love me some quit rage. there is no doubt that withdrawal sucks. But I'm pretty sure that it is better than chemotherapy and radiation.stay the course Chuck. You are winning.
