Title: I have decided
Post by: Baxter1 on February 22, 2013, 09:50:00 AM
I have tried it in the past, but failed. I have decided that I really do want to quit dipping. I believe from the sounds of it that I have come to the right place. Let me know where i need to go on the site to get started.

Welcome to KTC. Go up to the "Welcome Center" and read all about the how's and why's of what we do and do not do here. This system works.

Go to your quit group which would be June 2013 and post your day 1, if you have no nicotine in your system. This is a cold turkey type approach we use here. Post roll everyday as your promise not to use any nicotine that day. 1 day at a time.

Reach out to your quit brothers in your group and exchange numbers for added suport during tough times. You can do it.

Welcome again.

You posted your Day 1, and you're off and running.

Read as much as you can, and don't be afraid to shout if you have questions.

Welcome again.

Welcome to KTC, go to "Welcome Center" and start reading and reading and reading. If you are quit then post roll in the June quit group. This is a nicotine free site period, no patches, no gum,no shit in your mouth. Congrats on finding this site, pull up a chair and stay awhile it's amazing in here.

In the past when I tried to quit it just seemed like either stress or certain triggers are what got me. But as I was looking in the mirror last night, as I brushed my teeth, I realized i have lost alot of gum tissue. That is something that I will never get back. It has also been a pain in the rump not to chew at the house. My wife knows that I started again but I just dont do it at the house. So any suggestions anyone has to help me would greatly be appreciated.

The next few days are going to suck...out loud. White knuckle it, drink a ton of water, stay away from the boys at the bar, and hunker down.

Being here is a great distraction when you're craving.

Chew gum (not nicorette).

Eat life savers.

Mints.

Toothpicks.

Straws.

Work out.

Go for a run.

Chop some wood.

Do anything OTHER than dip.

I obviously don't know you or your relationship with your wife, but I strongly suggest you pull her aside and tell her what's going on. Tell her you're Quitting. She's going to notice your irritability, and rage for the next couple weeks. Remember - it's not her fault you're a dumbass and decided to chew for so many years.

When you're craving, come here.

When you're raging, come here. Rage on us. We get it. Your kids don't. Your wife doesn't. Your boss already hates you, so don't give him an excuse to fire you. Rage on us.

I was a full blow can and a half a day Copenhagen guy for 29 years. If I was awake and breathing, I was dipping. Trust me when I say, you CAN do this! And it is SO much better on the 'other side'.

Freedom - it's worth it.

Hey, time to nut up and do this shit. Like Nolaq said, it's going to be tough. When you feel like a bitch come here and chew these KTC shitheads a new asshole. Chew on us, not Your family and don't chew dip! One day at a time. Be an asshole on here and these guys will have your back, but don't frickin cave! Nut up, be courageous, love your family, and be a bitch here on KTC if need be. It takes a true bad ass to quit - it truly does - do you have what it takes? I believe you do!

I was gonna post something heartfelt and creative, but instead I'll just request that you read Nolaq's post again. Seriously, I mean read it again. Really soak in what that brother is telling you. Then heed it.

Read everything you can here. There is lots to learn. Get your head in the game and really commit to this or you will fail. It is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing you do every day. You just have to realize that. There have been a few really good exchanges in some of these intros lately. Read up on those. Post any questions and you'll get all the support you need.

I agree completely that you should talk with your wife. Show her the spouse's section (http://www.killthecan.org/community/spouse.asp) and have her read it. I hesitated on telling my wife, and regret that decision. She has been a HUGE advocate since she understood what was going on. Before that she just thought I was being a prick for no reason. Seriously, bring her here.

You're a man of your word right Baxter?

I know how bad the suck is, we all do. But we can all assure you that it does go away and the view from here is VERY nice. I'll always be an addict but I'm not the same idiot I was when I was stuffing my face and pretending it was fun.

You WILL make it thought this if you honor your word. You're at the worst part and the cloud over your head will be gone before you know it.

I'll be keeping an eye on this in case you need help. Otherwise I'll be looking forward to your roll post tomorrow morning.

If you have to use the herbal to stay quit by all means use it. I personally didn't and haven't because I felt like it was to close to the real deal. Alot of quitters on KTC swear by it though. Bottom line do what ever it takes to stay quit today, 24 hours 1,440 minutes. You can do this, there is an army of quitters backing your quit today. QLF today

LOOT thinks like jaynellie. Way, way too fuggin close to the real thing. It would start the same old rationalization process that kill a bunch of other attempts. "You are spending money on it....You are dipping it...It looks like dip...It comes in a can like dip...You may as well dip". Thas how LOOTs mind works right there. Stupid assed addict rationalization.

Only you know you. Follow your instinct. Aint nuttin wrong with it as long as you can control it. LOOT can't and knows it.

You are going to deal with the oral fixation at some point or another. LOOT bit the bullet and had it whooped around Day 90. 3 months of seeds and sore, bleeding gums and it was over. Some guys one here are carrying fakie years after they quit. Aint for LOOT.

Again...only you know you.

^^^ x 3. I agree with Loot completely. I was tired of the addiction, the spit, the dribble down the back of my throat, the dependency on a can, the appearance of shit in my mouth. All of it. I knew that I had to get just as far away from the whole situation as I possibly could. I chewed through a damn truckload of seeds, though. I'd say stay away from IF YOU CAN.

Even with all that said, I have to admit that I personally know of many instances where fake stuff saved a quit. I will never bash my brothers who used it. Whatever works.

I am one that used the fake like it was going out of style but ended up regretting it. Had a TERRIBLE time quitting the fake stuff because it was like I was going through the first few days all over again (without the nic withdrawal). The same feelings of giving up a friend, the same feelings of being bored off my ass, the same feeling of needing something more.

Did it help me get through the real nic withdrawal? No, not any more than sunflower seeds did. If I could do it over with the knowledge I no have I would not have used seeds or the fake.

Go with your gut feeling on this. Only you know what it is going to do for your mindset.

I used Smokey Mountain and still do from time to time. Until you have been quit for a long time there are still triggers you will come across that you have not dealt with yet. I feel that it is a good tool to use early on but not as you used to use Chew. I was a can + a day guy so I only used it if I was really feeling the anxiety! I recommend you only use it as a safety net until you are ready to walk the rope without it. Whatever it takes to stay quit is what I say! Over time I have been getting the feeling when I use it that it is silly. There is no Nic in it so why the hell am I using it.

Welcome to KTC baxter, lots of good information in your introduction all ready. I will add a couple of things I have not seen posted yet.

As far as the herbal stuff goes, one of our strongest March quitters swore by lipton tea bags starting out. Soak in cold water for a minute cut open and pack it in. Not as expensive as the other stuff and a little further removed from your quit, no can, etc.....

Also there is a link in the top left. LIVE CHAT (http://chat.killthecan.org/) Use it, if you need to rant or swear at people that is the place to go.

Get some phone numbers. I sent you a PM with mine, call or text me if you need to. You can send a PM (private message) by clicking on the persons name on the left.

Read, read, read and post questions, if you are experiencing it chances are someone else here has as well.

The next couple of days are going to suck, no getting around it. Water and exercise help as well. Do it right and you will never have to go through this again!

No sugar coating, the suck is real and it doesn't leave overnight and there are still days ahead that you will doubt that you can do it or even want to do it! That is the addicted mind trying to get you to feed it one more fix. The one day you'll realize you haven't been missing the poison. Just listen to the advise others that have traveled the path give you and quit one day at a time. Check your inbox (1)

Well then, keep fighting and remember this suck as to why the hell would you want to go through this again. Let this strengthen you.

Get ready as day 3 will probably be all the same and/or worse than day 2. But guess what??????? after that 72 hour mark for when the physical nicotene withdrawl is over it will get better.

But for now keep fighting, be strong with that pair between your legs and be quit.

Fight brother fight!

Day 3...almost at the 72 hour mark. The physical part is almost done. Remember this feeling because it only happens once. You only go through withdrawal once. From here on out its mental and I'll tell ya that once you get there, there's a few thousand folks here that can pull you through. So get there. And we'll fight together the rest of the way.

You got to prepare yourself for the craves. You got any fakey? Or gum? Get something. Sunflower seeds. Atomic hot balls. Anything. Coffee grounds. Stuff anything but cancer candy in your pie hole.

Remember your promise, fight the craving with whatever works (slam your nuts in a drawer). Let that good feeling last, (don't hope)! Learning to control life's challenges and controlling how we feel about them is the beginning of freedom! That may seem very foreign to a slave. Six months ago I would have seriously doubted that I could be in control of anything in my life. But can and so can you!

Baxter - the poison is out of your system. Now, it's a gigantic mental battle. The more you anticipate cravings, depression, struggles and overall doom, the more likely you'll be to have a shit day. Focus on the positive. You're on the path to freedom. You've just accomplished an amazing milestone in your quit. Today's fucking fantastic!

you just keep on chompin those seeds man. having a mouth all torn up from the fuggers will be a good reminder of what you don't wanna do again.

when those craves hit, throw one finger on each hand up, and tell'em to Fuck Off. As loud as you gotta. Until you don't gotta.

Awesome! I am just a day behind you!

I bought a can of smokey mountain too. It's odd stuff, tastes pretty decent. I hear that Hooch is better though. I actually ended up ordering Jakes Chew in Cinnamon. I don't want to remember how my old dip tasted every time I throw in one of these alternatives. So, cinnamon it is.

Baxter, I was walking my dogs this morning, and I had an odd feeling and memory. Walking the dogs was my 1/2 hour of EVERY day to quell my withdrawal symptoms of my addiction without worry. Today, I remembered how the first few times I walked the dogs after I quit, I wondered to myself "How the fuck am I going to be able to walk the dogs without a dip?" That was one of my biggest triggers. See how fucking stupid it sounds? Chances are, you did everything with a dip. Being awake is a trigger. Lose the idea that things are triggers. It'll help. Laugh at how fucking stupid we all used to be. But not today. Just not today.

Keep your word that you will not use today and you will be fine. I cant think of anything that isnt a trigger since the only time I did not have a dip was eating or sleeping. So as long as I am breathing I will be kicking the bitch off. It gets better everyday.

Quit Like Hell!!
NICK
You know what I like about this intro thread?

Baxter is so scared that everything's going to be so difficult. Every day's so long. So tempting. So trying. It's like every morning's thread is the voice for the nic bitch. While Baxter's daily choice to remain quit is his proof positive bad-ass-iveness. FUNB. He's not taking shit for granted. The bitch still lives. But Baxter is stronger. Smokeyg is stronger.

+1 bitches.

Starting Day 9. Feeling good but I think today will be a long day. Going to have a bunch of triggers that I will have to get through. But I will get through them.
Hey Baxter1, You have my number use it if you need to. No caving, you do not want to have to go through the last 9 days all over again. Skip some of the triggers if at all possible, especially if you are worried it.

I have began to forget about dipping in many situations, no associated cravings either. When I look back I feel incredibly proud and motivated. Over thinking didn't help me in my first few days, so just began to push forward naturally. I know there are triggers I haven't faced, but I will tackle those triggers when I get there. I am quitting one trigger at a time.

Thanks for the words of encouragement yesterday. I have made it through Day 9 and now ready to tackle Day 10. I kept myself busy yesterday by cutting down some trees. Day 10 will be a nic free day. Stay quit June.

I'll add my encouragement. I t has become easier for me too. Each week has fewer strong craves, as I get used to doing stuff without nicotine. I'm day 68 and still have occasional craves, but it is getting better as one day leads to another in my quit. You will do this too and it will make you STRONG.

It has been a busy and rough couple days at the house, has nothing to do with quitting, and I havent been on here that much. I guess since I have been busy that I havent had much time think about my quitting. So I hope all the june quitters are still going strong.

You been posting roll bud?

That's all you need to do if so. Sometimes, we're takers. Sometimes, we're givers. Sometimes, we need some space.

All we ask here is that you post roll to play on the playground here. Take what you need, and leave the rest. Be comfortable in your quit, but don't be complacent.

Great job man!!!

If you still got a hankering for a "big juicy one" I can drive down to Ohio and offer up my member. Hey Ohhhh.

Keep up the good work. If you ca make it 13 days, you can make it 14, which is all you need to worry about. TWO WEEKS is MONSTER by the way.

You'll find that there are quite a few punk ass bitches who drive by this site looking for a magic bullet. They're not committed and ready to fight. When the going gets tough, they fade away.

By keeping this blog, you're making it harder to fade away.

Good thing the rest of June quitters aren't punk ass bitches. Stay strong, those who continually keep their word, in June.

Great job baxter1. I'm at 4 and I'm quit with you brother. Start believing it.
We are quit. We weren't doing a drive by. We meant our promise. We weren't joking, or trying something new for a little while. Great Job? If you need anything PM me.
