Hey ya'll. I was lucky enough to stumble across this site this past Monday 7/2. It's great to be here. It's been 15+ years since this monster has tackled me. 15+ years of all the same hard aches many of you have had. When I woke up Monday morning, it was the same as any other Monday. On my way to work, I stopped at the exact same gas station I always do, I got my normal cup of coffee and a can of Grizzly straight and finished my exact same routine I have done everyday for as long as I can remember. However, this time, when I had made it to the office, something was different. For the first time in 15 years, something in my mind finally clicked and said this is enough. Today is the day that you quit regardless of the 3 full cans you have in the center console. I had every intention of quitting one day, but was in no hurry to do it, and would use every excuse under the sun to delay it. Currently, I am only 4 days clean and it has been a very humbling 4 days. The ole mind has tried to bring up every possible scenario to get the nicotine back. I now honestly know how it feels when you talk about being foggy headed. I am super glad that I have found this site, and really looking forward into getting to know ya'll. This will not be an overnight battle for me. Let me know if ya'll need anything. I may be a newbie, but it feels like i'm right where I need to be.

You're damn right you're in the right place. Great choice!!! Now go to the Welcome Center and read all you can. I didn't check to see if you have posted roll, but that is the first thing you should do each day.
I'm glad you see the mental games for what they are. Recognizing your own ability to come up with excuses and rationalizations is half the battle. The other half is staying accountable for your word. That's what this site is for...that's what we do, brother!
Take it one day at a time and enjoy your new found freedom!!!

ensor,
If you truly believe this, then you will be quit for the rest of your life. This site offers you the tools and resources you need to beat back your addiction. Bean laid it out for you - post roll early each day promising you, me, bean, and everyone else that you will not use any nicotine. That simple. Not easy, but simple. Post roll, use tools, seek help when needed, stay quit, sleep, repeat. Post roll for the rest of your life = no nicotine for the rest of your life.
So if you really think you are where you need to be, you won't fade away like half of the people that post an introduction and post roll for a couple of days like you have. If you truly want to be quit, you will read, learn, ask, participate, encourage, and soak all of this in.

Wedgie, Bean, thanks so much for the support. I have joined up on the roll call and will do it everyday. It's hard to see now, but i'll be at 100 real soon. It'll be alot easier with all this support. It's great!

Ensor, we are all together, so let's do this thing and see how many nails we can drive into that coffin to keep it out of our bodies, one for each day.

We quit one day at a time. It's great to have that 100 day goal, but don't let it get in the way of the next 24 hours. 100 days is a great milestone, but it is just that, a milestone on a long journey that never really ends. 200 days, 1,000 days, 5 years, 10 years.....all milestones just the same. As we are all addicts, the fight will never end.
I look at each day as a milestone. I post roll everyday so that I hit each one. I savor it, knowing I have taken control of my life again. 100 days will be sweet, but it's just another number.
