Hello,
I am new here, and haven't yet made the leap to quit. Like a lot of you--I'm guessing--I've quit a thousand times, but have always started up again. I'm a can-a-day Kodiak guy, and come April, I will have been at it for 20 years.
20 fucking years.
Anyway, in addition to being a father and husband, I am also a Freemason. The Brotherhood within the Craft has been one of the greatest gifts I have ever received.
As I approach my as-yet-unset quit date, I anticipate turning to this website often for support. I'm curious, though, are there other Freemasons on this site? Given how hard quitting is, I'm thinking that I will get even more out of my participation on this site if I know there are Masonic Brothers on here as well.
I'll be coming back regardless, but I hope there are other Widow's Sons on here.

Instead of worrying about Masons, why don't you just quit now? You don't have to pick a date, just do it now. This group is a fraternity of quitters, and KTC.org is our temple, why don't you join us, and be quit today?
-
Murphy, planning to set a quit date rarely works. There is only today. You've tried your way for the past 20 years and it hasn't worked. Why not try the tried and true KTC way? Flush your stash, post roll in the May quit group and let's get busy quittin'.
You can do this. You really can!!!
-
Tomorrow never comes. Quit for today. You know you want freedom or you wouldn't have come here looking...so just quit already. Dump that can. I assure you, there will be others of like interests here. We come from all walks of life my friend.
-
Quitting ain't hard. Especially if you never do it you gigantic pansy ass.
Dribble dribble dribble...hope....dribble dribble dribble
Have balls, will quit.

There are all walks of life on here. But we are Quit first and foremost.
If you're looking for additional accountability by associating with some other group, great.
But first you need to dump your shit. All of it.
Make your un-set quit date TODAY.
When you do, you might find a traveling man or two that are hanging around here.

wait. come april it WILL be 20 yeers? what are you gonna dip rite up to your 20 yeer anaversry then quit? man thats just stoopid. look in the mirrer and say that to your self and see how stoopid it looks.

Murphy, planning to set a quit date rarely works.
Especially if you haven't set one.
I don't even know where to begin here. This is not a social networking site. It is a save-your-life-because-you-are-too-stupid-to-do-it-on-your-own site. I'm suspecting there are plenty of masons that do/have come through here, but I also suspect they aren't willing to openly identify themselves to you until you demonstrate some seriousness about quitting first. Otherwise, why bother?
Jump on in, foggy. The quittin's good.

I understand that your association with the Masons provides a strong brotherhood built around a shared experience and shared commitment to certain principles. That feeling of belonging and accountability is precisely what we do here, except its all about one thing only...nicotine addiction.
If you understand and appreciate Freemasonry, you'll fit right in around here, whether you find any other Widow's Sons or not.
Like my brothers said below, there's really no point in setting a quit date if that date isn't today. Listen up, Widow's Son:
You may very well have a few skin cells in your jaw this very moment that are just tingling. They're yearning to mutate and start a process that results in your death in less than a year. They've been slowly advancing to that point over the past two decades. Which lipper will it be that finally starts the process? The one you have in your mouth now, or the one you'll toss in there tomorrow morning?
Won't you feel like an idiot if you wait just long enough to get yourself killed and leave your children fatherless? Toss that crap right now and let's get this started.
*insert goofy secret handshake here*
-
Unless the Freemasons have cured cancer, you ought to be looking for your quit group and post roll today.
Planning to quit is a bunch of bullshit. Come back when you're quit.

I just took out my final dip. Brushed my teeth. Threw away the rest.
I've been dip free for about 2 minutes.
I'm scared, and excited, and dreading the coming hours and days. And weeks. And months.
I've done all of these steps before, of course, but I haven't before had an on-line community as support. This is it.
I tried to post in Roll Call, but I kept getting an error message saying I wasn't authorized to post there.
So, here it is: this is my official announcement that I am done dipping.
-

Nice 100th post, Auburn. You're right, nothing to talk about until he dumps all nicotine and posts up his day 1 of quit.

excellent decision to re-take control over your life.
do not enter into this lightly. you're a mason, so you know what brotherhood, honor, and trust are all about. it's the same gig here... don't forget that.

Unless the Freemasons have cured cancer, you ought to be looking for your quit group and post roll today.
Planning to quit is a bunch of bullshit. Come back when you're quit.
HA! I love it.
Keep in mind, please, that we Freemasons actually *invented* cancer in order to destroy Catholics. Others' deaths are collateral damage.
