Title: First and last quit
Post by: mhfree on February 25, 2016, 05:25:00 PM
I am Marvin and have given up dip this week. This will be my first and last try at stopping. I say that because after dipping for 20 years I have finally found the strength to say that was my last dip. I refuse to fail at this and have no doubt I will never touch another can of dip. Saddest thing now is I truly wish I had never started dipping in the first place.

Welcome Marvin! The great thing about this place is you don't have to deal in such absolutes, it's just a day. Congrats!

Don't we all. Can't change the past buddy, but we can absolutely use it as motivation for the future. You sound resolute, and that's good to hear. Welcome to one of the best decisions you'll ever make and we're all looking forward to seeing you turn that confidence into a successful quit.

Welcome Marvin. I can tell you that you will NEVER regret quitting. Ever! Welcome to the first day of freedom. 22 years for me.....and I hate the first time I ever used. You are in control. You have to do the work, but we have all been day one at some point. Read, read and read this site but most importantly, listen to these quitters. They will be here to help you save your life!

Hey Marvin. Welcome man. You have made a great decision to quit and have come to the right place to kick that nasty habit.

You will be in the June 2016 quit group. Go on over THERE and post your name and # of days quit under new quitters. That is how you make your promise to not use nicotine today. Do the same tomorrow, the next day, etc. That is how we do it here. We quit one day at a time every damn day (ODAATEDD). I hope to see you there and I will be posting support for you daily.

Marv,

I think its safe to say that we all wish that we had never started dipping.  But, obviously what's done is done and there's nothing you can do to change that. So...no need to spend one more ounce of time dwelling on that. Get it, got it? Good.

Post that roll promise every day. Roll is your life line and the key to a little something we call freedom. Yea, freedom - and it never gets old. And one last thing

I'm going to re-write this for you. "This will be my one and only quit" There is no trying only doing. There is no stopping - stopping leads to restarting. There is only quitting and quitting is a way of life.
