I am brand new here. I'm gonna need help on how to navigate this site. I've never been on bulletin board sites before so any tips and pointers are much appreciated.
I'm gonna need lots and lots of help. I've been a slave to the can for 18 years, and was a slave to the cigarette pack for 3 years before that. So that's 21 years of my life, and no telling how many dollars I have wasted on tobacco. I'm sick of it. I'm done with it. I QUIT!

Nice job on the quit and navigating to your quit group of Jan 2013.
Biggest thing to do is get acquainted with this site. Highly recommend you go here: WELCOME CENTER (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13)
Your quit decision MUST be 100% your decision. Anything short of that sets you up for failure by allowing your addict brain to blame a given situation or person as reason for you to go back to the can.
What to Expect When You Quit Dipping (http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/what.asp)
If applicable Spousal Support (http://www.killthecan.org/community/spouse.asp)
This a a NO NICOTINE SITE, period, no discussion.
Here is a list of Smokeless non-tobacco alternative (http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/alternatives.asp)
We "Post Roll Call" daily ( our promise to ourselves and to our brothers not to use nicotine today)- We DO THIS DAILY so make posting roll the first step of your daily proactive quit.
Read, read, read: Read for knowledge, to fight a crave, combat a cave or sheer entertainment

Great choice, King!!! CBird really gave you all you need to start out with.
"One day at a time" is your new way of life. See, quitting forever is hard. It overwhelms us. So, we don't do that. In fact, we don't think about tomorrow, next week, next month, Christmas or whatever. We'll worry about those things when they get here. All we focus on is right now...today. That's it.
All we ask is that you post roll. That is your promise that come Hell or high water, you won't have anything to do with nicotine today. And anybody can go 1 day, right? Then, wake up tomorrow and do it again.
Find your Quit Group (January 2013), post roll and repeat. Also, click around on a few of the quit groups other than yours. Look at all of those bad-ass quitters chosing to live nic free one day at a time. Pretty impressive, huh? Everybody you see was once where you are right now. Cold turkey, white knuckle, no sleep, no pills, no patches, no bullshit...we are quit.
I'm proud as shit to be quit with you today!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Post roll, read, read, read, read, and wake up tomorrow and do it all again. Welcome, brother!!!

Welcome.
I am only on day 9 and can honestly say this board and the guys in this Quit Room have gotten through some tough times.
If I am near a PC when a craving hits I immediately login and just start reading anything. That usually clears the fog. If I'm not near a PC, say in a car, I eat food, sunflower seeds, Jolly Ranchers, Life Savers, gum, whatever. My car has become a convenient store.
Get some cell numbers for guys in this group (I'll message you mine). If you need another voice to vent to, bitch at, blame, whatever...do it to get through it.
Last, post roll everyday. if you can't contact someone to let them know you are still quit and ask them to post on your behalf. Don't go MIA.
For me, the first 4 days sucked beyond imagination. I still crave it and think about it, but now those thoughts go as quickly as they come. I tell myself that I quit for today and will deal with tomorrow then.
