Title: Hello, I'm the new girl
Post by: cuttin247 on February 16, 2012, 12:23:00 AM
Hi,
My name is Lori. I wanted to introduce myself. I'm 32 and been a closet dipper for 12 years now. I'm tired of the lies and living in the dark. I'm tired of being controlled by a substance. This is my third day quit. I can't sleep and I'm a little foggy but I'm trying to figure out this posting thing. Posting roll and making that promise to all of you and myself has made a big difference. I quit so that I might live and live free!

Good decision! I've seen you on, glad to see you getting active and finding your quit feet.

You've likely heard all the advice...get numbers, post roll EARLY, post often...

Shout out if you need anything...

Welcome Lori! Ninja dipper here too. Not many people knew I chewed. Very few. The lady at the store. My close friends. My wife, I assume knew but I didn't put one in around her. I could be very discreet. Makes it harder to quit this way.

You are at about day 4, very close to my date. I'm technically at 2. I've been off since Saturday. I slipped on Tuesday a tiny amount. I feel I am about off nicotine physically. One more day. The craves are better already. The fog is a tad better. We can do this.

Focus on how much better you feel right now, that helps. I can feel a difference. Not as tired, lethargic, edgy.

Misterbean, what the hell is 'slipped a little on Tuesday'? This is a Yes or No equation. You're either quit or you're caved. There is no middle ground. Lori, listen to the guys with triple or quadruple digits in their quit days, not a technically "2" days. That crap doesn't fly here. Posting roll means you're quit that day.

Lori,

I saw that you posted roll. Congratulations. Welcome aboard. There are two pieces of advise that I can give you, that if utilized, will make this quit stick.

First, Post Roll Every morning making your promise, keep it, and repeat. I know this phrase gets used a lot around here, but we use it because we know its true.

Second, immerse yourself into this place. Read, post, log in chat, connect with people at your stage of the quit, and those beyond. This is just as important as posting roll.

Reach out if you need anything.

And again, congratulations.

Great choice, Lori!!! Post roll, keep your word, and repeat. Don't think about tomorrow, next week, next year, etc. We'll worry about those when they get here. You just give your word that you will not use nicotine today...and then fight like hell to keep your word.

Read all you can on this site. You've taken the first step...let us help you with the rest. You can do this!!!

Day 1 . . .again.

Please re-read this thread. I'll bet your opening post is still very much valid. If you haven't learned anything since your cave, there is no since posting roll. If you have, then you owe it to your May brothers and your new July brothers to share that knowledge. Sharing the whys and how's of your cave will help them, and you, and me.

It won't be easy, because there are bound to be people like me that still feel bitter about you not living up to your words. But thanks in advance.
