Can't say I'm happy about being a newbie...but all good for this site.
Too many good things to live for and too many tries at quitting.
24.5 hours but this is different. A gift to myself that makes the suffering worth it. And whoa...what a foggy day.
Any encouragement for this old man is WELCOME!

Glad to have you here and quit with us. There is a lot to learn on this site:
1. Post roll, each and every day
2. Buy gum, seeds, candy, fake chew, anything to help you stay quit
3. Fight for your quit, and use this site, it works if you get active.
You can do this, read everything on this site

How old NimRod? I am 45, so if you need someone to text or chat (yell ) at, let me know and I'll send you my number. And if say you are old and turn out to be 28 I'll find someone to visit your porch.
Drink water like it going out of style today, and stay close to the KTC. LIVE chat in the right hand corner is a great tool to use.

Welcome aboard Nimrod. It is great to have you here. Never to late quit. Cancer 65 is no better than cancer at 25.
-
Welcome!
Quit with you today!

NimRod,
You from Minny? Town there named Nimrod is why I ask. Anyway I see you figured out roll and posted your promise, FANTASTIC. Believe it or not, roll is the key to your success and taking it serious is the only way. I see guys/gals half ass roll call and you can predict the cavers by how serious they take it. So do yourself a favor and post roll as soon as you can each day. As you are well aware now, thick into the fog, it is a bitch. I promise it will get better and always remember how much it sucked because that will get you through the craves. Remembering the suck has saved me many times. Hitting 42 this month and quit now for 387 days, would have never thought that possible being a nicotine user since the age of 13 and it wasn't possible until I found KTC. If you let it, this place, this plan will save your arse. Anyway you need anything, hit me up via PM for a number and stay close to KTC it will help get you through the first several days or weeks. Welcome!

Rod, you are not the only old dog here, and we CAN learn new tricks like Quitting!
Keep posting those +1's. They add up, trust me. From one old fart to another, we can show these young dickheads that 30 years of addiction is too much.
Shout out if you need help.
-
Proof it can be done. This really old dog is doing it daily at 57.
-
Nicotine is just about out of your body brother, drink water and stay quit!

Congrats on a great choice, Rod!!! I'm pumped for you. 24 hours is HUGE...but it is nothing compared to what you are about to do. My advice...EMBRACE THE SUCK!!! Everything you are going through is the feeling of healing. Take notice of it. You are winning ONE DAY AT A TIME.
Take a look at the Quit Groups...not just your own, but a few other months and years. Then think, all of those names have been right where you are now and are winning one day at a time. YOU CAN DO THIS!
Before I found this site, I would get over-whelmed with the thought of "quitting forever." It just seemed too hard. Well, that is because it is. And that is why we don't do that here. All we do is give our word that no matter what the fuck happens, we won't use nicotine today. Who knows what happens tomorrow, next week or whenever? Nobody knows the future. But I can guaran-fuckin-tee you that I will make it though today without putting that shit in my body. And YOU CAN TOO!!!
Every day of freedom is cause for celebration. Every day quit is a great day. So embrace the suck...even when you feel like you're getting crushed. Quitting is a privilege reserved to those who have the guts to do it. And you do. That is something you should be pumped about too!

Great choice to quit! Read EVERYTHING on KTC! All the knowledge you need is right here. Keep Quit.
-
Thanks for all the Posts...Day 3 and I'm still determined.
53 years old. I'm catching you Wt57.
Gotta stay quit.

Stay strong, NR! I am only 3 weeks ahead of you. Each day does seem to get a bit easier, but the marathon effect will hit after a while. Posting roll and staying connected to the KTC community is an important part of staying focused. Feel free to send a note to anyone or to post questions.
For me, at about week 2, I was getting tired of seeds, and my jaw was tired of gum, so the fake dip seemed to help with the cravings.
I also benefited from the "embrace the suck" comment. I took the misery in as a necessary part of recovery--and that memory is one thing that keeps me from diping again!

Nice nimrod. Keep it going. Failure simply is not an option.

Great post Stat and way to be there for a fellow new quit brother.
53 years young - all the better the freedom will feel when you emerge from the fog and cut free those chains of nicotine. Just pause for a brief second; think about how pathetic our addict behavior is to feed that addiction. Ninja dipping, out-of-the-way drives to replenish your supply; nasty spit bottle under your car seat, ...the list is endless. Whatever is on your list of addict behavior is your life as a slave. Now imagine not having to be that guy any longer. I can't tell you how frickin' awesome it feels to be free. I just crossed my 1 year mark and it continues to feel better and better and better. This shit never gets old.

Congrats on reaching the hall today! Proud to be quit with you EDD.
