Title: New Quitter
Post by: bennymac06 on September 22, 2014, 01:07:00 AM
Today I take back my life. I've planned, acted on, and finished the prep before quit day. I have a support system of family and friends supporting me. I reduced the amount of chewing tobacco each day for the last week or so. All should be good to go, right?

Well, as I sat watching Sunday night football and baseball, I realized I need a bit more support than family and friends can give. I need someone to kick my ass into shape and provide the accountability only a quitter can. I googled the same thing it appears many of you have and introduced myself to this site. I now introduce myself to all of you as I have just taken my last chew.

I have been addicted to nicotine since I was 16 years old. I'm 18 years into my addiction. I've made several attempts in the past, all failing within the first 100 days; a couple weeks here, a month there.

Nicotine controls my life. I'm alone more than with others so that I do not put them in the presence of the disgusting aftermath of this particular addition. Chew cups sit around the man room for days. Bits of chew are all over the place at home and work. I eat lunch alone so that I can take a dip before and after my meal. I've had enough. I want to take my life back.

For these reasons, I declare September 22, 2014 my official quit day. As it so happens, that 100th day will be New Year's Eve. Understanding that once an addict, always an addict, I want to be able to tell my wife (who's been living with this for too long) that she'll no longer have to be subjected to this habit.

With that, hello and welcome to the journey.

It's great to have you here part of KTC and it appears you have a good plan of attack. Just stick to it, don't deviate, never rationalize, and always come here to vent all your angst upon us. We are here for you and know exactly what you are going through.

Read the info on this site. Post roll every damn day. Engage with the quitters here. Interact with your quit brothers and veterans. Get phone numbers and give out yours. Dive in and immerse yourself in KTC, it will save your life.

Glad to see you posted roll. Learn to hate nicotine, and learn that chewing isn't a habit, it's a deadly addiction. The next few days will be hell, but always remember them. It's called "the SUCK", and you never have to go through it again if you stay quit.

Welcome Benny! Take heed to all the advice given and work this program like your life depends on it, because it does. One thing that helped me early on was reading through the Words of Wisdom section. The experiences and stories are not all "fun" to read, but it definitely strengthened my resolve to quit! again, Welcome and QUIT ON!

Welcome! You've decided to make your life better, and that's awesome! KTC will help you a toooooooon, but you have to use the tools provided. If you don't use the site properly then you will be right back where you are. So, at the minimum you should:

1. Post roll every single day. Do this first thing every morning without question. No internet? Tough! Call or text someone in your cave plan list (see topic 2). Posting roll is the corenerstone of your quit. You are promising a group of people that you are quitting for that day, and they intern are doing the same to you. If you don't think you can commit to posting roll daily, I really wouldn't advise using KTC. But, if you can commit, you will more than likely never be seduced by the NIC whore again.

2. Get a list of phone numbers from your quit group and make them part of your cave plan. These are people you could reach out to should you find yourself wanting to cave. Drinking to much or out with friends, and you feel like you're going to put a wad of poison in your mouth? Pause for a moment and call one of these people to help talk you out of it. It's part of your cave plan, and you need to have one in place.

There are countless stories of guys on here that have quit 500 days, and decided to cave. Why? They thought they had it under control, and perhaps didn't stay with KTC. You have to commit to this site, and your quit bros that you are in this fulltime.

I hope this doesn't sound daunting or to much. It's really not that hard to do. I'm glad you're here, and I look forward to seeing you in the HOF someday my friend! I quit with you today!
