Just found you guys today. I actually quit dipping on December 27 - the day they took a biopsy of my gums. Got the call last night that the biopsy was negative. I still haven't relapsed, but look forward to finding a great support system here.
-
Don't let that be a reason, ever.....its a trap. You've spun the bullet in the chamber long enough. Time to stop.
Welcome.
-
"I still haven't relapsed".................No. I will not relapse, I will not cave. PERIOD
Live in the present.
Just because the shooting has stopped, doesn't mean the war isn't over.
Stay quit.

First, welcome. You will certainly find support here.
Second, congrats on NOT having cancer, yet. If you go back to dipping, which would be easy to do with the relief you are likely feeling right now, you'll be in the same boat and playing the same ridiculous game. Train's right, don't let that be a reason to pick the can back up!
Finally, head on over to the April group and post role. The single most important thing we do here. If you need instructions on how to do so check out the link below:
index.php?show...ndpostp=157123 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50&view=findpost&p=157123)
Your role post is your promise not to dip today. Make your promise, keep your word and repeat tomorrow. It won't be easy, but its doable - this group is full of proof.
Proud to be quit with you! PM me if you need anything.

All 3 of you guys,
Thanks so much for the support. I suppose I worded my post a little loosely. I have no intent to go back. Feeling better eveyday and know how hard the fight will be, and now especially since I have found this group, it's almost going to be fun, I think.

Totally agree...fun in a sorta sick way. It is fun to know you're kicking the Nic Bitch in the balls each passing moment. Stay strong and stay quit.

My brother, welcome to the war. You will most definitely find support here. This support has made all the difference in my quit. Find your group, post roll with your word not to use, then keep your word. Its simple, just not easy. Congrats on not having cancer. NOW is the time. Today is THE DAY. Quit today. Tomorrow will be here soon enough. Proud to be quit with ya!

Ok. Don't panic and get all jump-on-me here , folks. I'm good. Day 19 and never felt better. Pride myself on posting every day. Here's my question.
I've gone cold-turkey, no Hooch, SM, nothing...
Gum, mints, will power, and encouragement have gotten me where I am, and I thank all of you.
If I haven't tried the fake stuff yet and am doing (seemingly) fine, should I even bother with it now. I REALLYwant to try it, but wonder if anyone has had it trigger the real thing more than not trying. Let me know.
-
In my opinion, if you have made it this far without something that looks and feels like dip in your mouth, DO NOT START NOW.
-
I agree with Parputt. That said, you may buy a can or two and stow them just in case of an emergency.
-
The question is: why do you want to try the fake stuff?

Everyone is different as to what helps with the oral fixation!! I've personally tried the fake stuff and for me it actually made me think more about the real stuff! I think you are on the right track to success! Keep using seeds, etc for the oral fixation!!

I didn't use any until a month in myself, about the time I started putting myself back into trigger situations. That said if you don't feel you need it, then don't use it. If you feel you do, don't worry about it too much, it isn't harmful, it isn't addictive, and you'll quit wanting it after some time.
Either way, I agree with Scowick, keep a can around, and if things get really bad, "cave" with it instead of the real stuff.

Yea everybodys rite if u haven't used it yet don't bother with it,on the otherhand I have used smokey mountain quite a bit since I quit I also chew gum and mints,I don't use sms as much the last wk remember KEEP IT UP
-
If you have been fine without anything, then no need to start with the fake stuff. I had been quit for a week and I was really missing it that much, I was missing the wintergreen taste from the Cope Wintergreen. I have found ONE Wal-Mart in all of eastern NC that carries Wintergreen Smokey Mountain and that satisfied the urge.
See if it is taste thing or the oral fixation thing you are missing.

Hi buddy. I'd very strongly recommend staying away from it. I'm personally on day 64 which is the longest quit I've had in 30 years. I tried the fake stuff but found it REAL easy to "fool" people and switch out the contents of the can for real cope (yeah, the smell of the fake stuff lingered enough to pass a quick sniff test from my kids).
I enjoyed the act of dipping as much as the nicotine. I've had to break both addictions to be successful.

I also want to add that the fake stuff stains the shit out of your teeth. I forgot just how bad it could be until I looked in the mirror to check my gums last night. Holly Shit. My teeth are brown and that is just from two days of mild Bacc Off use.

Again...try to ditch the fake shit. In an addicts mind it is no different than the real shit and it is too easy to start the justification process from there than it is from lets say...seeds. Can it be done with fakie? Yep. Should you? Not in LOOTs opinion. No way.
You WILL address the oral fixation. You continue dipping that shit and you are prolonging the inevitable. Get some seeds, gum, etc. It is going to take time. Took LOOT 90 days but it was like a switch...just dropped it one day. Plus...you eat seeds and they will destroy your mouth. Thats a good thing. It will be a good reminder of the pain associated with your quit.
This is of course, just LOOTs opinion.
