Title: Newbie on 10 day quit
Post by: wmcatty on November 26, 2012, 09:52:00 PM
Hey folks. Today is number 10 since quitting snuff...47 years of tobacco addiction is enough. Had surgery last week and figured it would be a tough time to quit, but when the hell would the time not be tough. Anyway, looking forward to the forum and meeting others that have quit using and thinking about going down to the store and getting a can...then remembering why I wanted to quit in the first place. All help/suggestions for getting through the day are appreciated.

Welcome to the freak show. Here's why you should get through today- because it's the only way to end slavery. Trust me on this - you are on the verge of a new world. A new chapter in your life. One where nicotine no longer calls the shots. Soon you will be able to go a whole day without thinking about dip. Soon after that you will be able to go several days. The longer you say "no" the weaker the nic-bitch's grip gets on you. The craves become less frequent and less intense. Freedom becomes the norm.

You can do this. Check your inbox (1)

Great decision you've made! But.... I gotta say you don't really sound committed to it. With 47 years of stupidity in your past, I'd venture to say that you've got a few failed attempts at qutting as well. You know how tricky it can be. If you want this time to be different, you have to be 100% committed. It's just that simple. When I quit, I had no idea how tough it was going to be. I had to totally alter my thinking. We all do, or else we fail. This can't be a casual "Oh, I think I'll quit.". It has to be "I AM DONE. I DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE!!". I am QUIT above all else. Yeah, it's that important.

You could figure out all my committments to quiting from that four sentence intro, or are you telepathic? Maybe this is not the forum for me, as I was hoping to see encouragement, recommendations, etc., not unbased surmises.

WMC -

Hey you have come and are in the right place. You are gonna have a lot thrown at you. The best advice I see on the site is take what you need and can and leave the rest.

You do want to be here as it will help tremendously. And you will find that most of us just want you to realize to yourself and understand why you want to quit so that you can build that wall to never to go back.

I have been there and not too long ago (day 149) and can say that the quitting was easy, I just did it cold turkey. It was the staying quit that was the hard part but being a part of the KTC family here, the reading, the posting each day and being accountable, that is what has kept me quit the one day at a time.

I quit with you today.

I spent most of the day today at the hospital for all the post surgical testing, interviews, etc. As the day lingered on, my patience was getting thin, my temper and anxiety levels were both high...and on two occasions I fould myself reaching into my left front pocket of my jeans for my pacifier can. I had never tried to quit dipping before, but this is a hard nut to crack. I just realized that today was just a scintilla easier than yesterday, so tomorrow is gonna be better than today. Screw you Copenhagen. Wayne

The first 15 days were not as bad as I was anticipating, but today has been a bitch since my feet hit the ground. The cravings have been intense and my disposition really sucks. But I made a promise to some nitwits about quitting today and I always keep my promises. Damn, I will be glad when this bitch gets off my back.

Well, spank my monkey! Sugar Britches canÂ’t stand the heat and wants out of the fire, huh? Bleeckerdogs wants to defend her honor and calls everyone on here assholes and childish fucksÂ…I guess that also includes those that only read the posts and did not issue a comment. Guilt by simple readingÂ…a novel idea. It seems to me that what Sugar wants is to be coddled, adored and held to a different standard other than that of which she purports to belong. Bleeckerdogs wants to make everyone repent in their lustful ways and analysis, but forgets that his little contributions were the catalyst that helped fuel this fiasco.
Maybe I am wrong here, but I always thought KTC was a nicotine quit site with a little drama to be served on the side. There are no entry requirements. There are no dues. The only prerequisite to join the club was a desire to be free of the grasp nicotine had upon us. So what the hell is the problem here? If you don’t like the people here, their comments, attitudes or the color of their hair…go elsewhere…get out now…run as fast as you can. As far as the particular insinuations posted in the forum, avert your eyes if you don’t want to read them. Close your minds or better yet…don’t read the posts at all. It is not difficult folks. Rocket science 101 is not in jeopardy. Nobody is holding a gun to your head to keep you here. This tremendous asset is not going to shut down or go away because one or two people got a case of the ass at someone else. I have seen people come and go due to the posts regarding them or something that really pissed them off. I used to feel empathy for most of them and wanted them to come back into the family. That was bullshit naivety on my part. The fact of the matter is that they were weak and were seeking pity for personal reasons from me and those that thought like me through their subterfuge. I will support anyone that comes here to help themselves and wants to quit. If you just want pity and your quit is second to your “hurt feelings”, go screw yourself and get the hell out of here. It is that simple. Otherwise, let’s put aside our bruised egos for this day and get back to the basics of what we do best…quitting!

Thank you gentlemen for your kind words and support. Although it has been 400 days, I was telling new quitter Pbrain this morning that it has passed quickly in some respects but has also passed like molasses in winter on some days. In looking back, I think the most enjoyment I experienced the past 28 fortnights, plus 8 days, has been in helping out the new guys and listening to the vets with those huge, friggin egos spout their esoterical wisdom when the opportunity presented itself. It still amazes me how those boys can walk, talk and chew gum at the same time while encouraging others to stroke those massive egos for them. Anyway, I am looking forward to the next 400 with ya'll.
